On Tuesday morning at just after 6am London time, the Sun was eclipsed by the new Moon.  And so the pressure of this rare event – the Easter Grand Cross between Moon and Sun eclipse – begins to ease and release its energy field.   Un-numbered moments of death and birth passed through, and changed their tune.

As waves move through water, all is change, and all is still.

Be still and look.  Did something in your life shift to a different field or level?   What now is history?

Here is a poem I wrote during a much publicised Solar eclipse, 15 years ago – it felt like acupuncture :

Poem of Eclipse:  Archangelus

Ketu Southnode

Persons who look directly
might be blinded.

Michael’s wisdom sword’s too sharp
for the surface world to bear:
to receive unseen a big black blasting beam of light.

Like a needle
it enters where the meridian discharges.
It may secretly rest.
It is known from beyond the system.

In here,
a littleness oft asleep
into a great snake willingly grows.

The call of the hidden night is the Knight, Self knowing archangel Michael,
slayer of lies.

I recognise and within it, stay.
As it becomes, it disappears;

and do not say the miracle
should happen overnight.
Let the oracle rest inside, to clear
at point of spear… given time.

The sword of Michael archangel is the
serpent seeing itself dispassionately.

In Jung’s Red Book …

“He went into the desert … he wanted to find what he needed in the outer. But you find manifold meaning only in yourself, not in things, since the manifoldness of meaning is not something that is given at the same time, but is a succession of meanings.  The meanings that follow one another do not lie in things, but lie in you, who are subject to many changes, insofar as you take part in life.  Things also change, but you do not notice this if you do not change.  But if you change, the countenance of the world alters!”

Tao Cycle

Tao Cycle

“But I saw solitude and its beauty, and I seized the life of the inanimate and the meaning of the meaningless.  I also understood this side of my manifoldness.  And thus my tree grew in the solitude and quiet, eating the earth with roots reaching far down and drinking the sun with branches reaching high up.  The solitary guest entered my soul.  But my greening life flooded me. jung as hermit

“Thus I wandered, following the nature of the water.  The solitude grew and extended around me.  I did not know how unlimited the solitude was, and I wandered and looked.  I wanted to fathom the depths of solitude, and I went so far until every last sound of life had died.”

.

Our sound of life is the mind, whether open space or crowded. The emptying is filled.

..

“Balance is at once life and death.  For the completion of life, a balance with death is fitting.  If I accept death, then my tree greens, since dying increases life.  If I plunge into the death encompassing the world, then my buds break open.  How much our life needs death!  Joy at the smallest things comes to you only when you have accepted death.  But if you look out greedily for all that you could still live, then nothing is great enough for your pleasure …

“If you accept death, it is altogether like a frosty night and an anxious misgiving, but a frosty night in a vineyard full of sweet grapes.  You will soon take pleasure in your wealth.  Death ripens.  One needs death to be able to harvest the fruit …  Limitation enables you to fulfil your being.”

Poem of Eclipse – Light from Light being Taken

Rahu Northnode

Rahu Northnode

Distances in the solar system
‘twixt points of light,
are physical and illusory.
All occurs concurrently.

The fading here of the light
when the light goes out of things – the beauty
with light from light being taken,

my weary grieving
being drawn
during eclipse:

becoming less,
settling for less,
the fading light –

the fading and dismembering of Rahu is endarkenment !

What “enlightens”
but the withdrawal of excess meaning ?
a subtle sainted change
and thinning in the air …

the mist behind
the dying and the seeing,
is living here.

In the Vedic constellations (Jyotish), the Ashwins are in Aries, the sign of the New.

“The Ashwin twins are elder Vedic gods.  They were heralds of the dawn.  They left an impact in the sculptural forms depicting Skanda and the Buddha in later history.  As Solar deities, they were the first physicians – doctors to humanity as well as to the gods.  They were that rarest of heroes – intellectuals who could act decisively.  They were described as dazzlingly handsome, and as intellectual in action, the powers of movement, fierce-making in their paths … to think and act are one.  They healed countless numbers of the lame, and restored sight to the blind.

“They give that impelling energy for the great work which, having for its nature and substance the light of the Truth, carries man beyond the darkness.

Grand Cross part 5 – Moon in Aquarius

23.4.14, Moon in 13 Aquarius - Tarot Keys 2 and 17: the Priestess and the Star

23.4.14, Moon in 13 Aquarius – Tarot Keys 2 and 17: the Priestess and the Star

These Tarot Keys, the Priestess and the Star show in picture language, the Moon in Aquarius, to which they are assigned.

Aquarius is the Water Bearer;  and those same waters flow from the lap of the Priestess.  Half hidden, she holds a scroll of the Akashic record;  the Grand Cross itself is on her breast!  On the pargod or veil behind her, is woven the Tree of Life:  her head is Da’at, union;  the cross is Tifareth.   The Sefiroth are pomegranates.  She is in bud.  She sits between Solomon’s pillars of Jakin (Yod) and Bohaz (Beit) – the day and the night.  She is the whole of the subconscious:  she is everything in us before it flowers and sprouts leaves and lives.  The Priestess serves the tides of the Moon.

Key 17 the Star is also called “Meditation”.  You can see why.  The Great Star shines through the seven stars or chakras of her spinal column:  the well has concentric ripples like the rings of a tree.  The scarlet ibis in the background is Thoth – intelligence of the Priestess’s ripe pomegranates.   The Priestess is heavily robed;  the woman of the Star is mother-naked.

Picture-language such as this, serves to open the mind;  to contemplate;  to begin to think creatively, as the surface of the pool is quietened.  We begin to see.

Explanations and interpretations are irrelevant.

We begin to see differently.  In psychological terms, it is the capacity of the Moon and of Yesod, to perceive;  to open the way.   This Wednesday, the Moon in 13 Aquarius resonates through Jupiter 13 Cancer, Pluto 13 Capricorn, Mars 13 Libra and Uranus 13 Aries, an unexpected reflection;  as if above and below all the news and views, the hidden spring is flowering.   But we must look within to find!

It is a providential yoga.  It is an alternative view;  the innner benediction.

On the Tree of Life, the Moon is Sefira Yesod – sphere of the personal self, our childhood conditioning, the filtering vessel through which we perceive the world.   The word yesod means “foundation”.   The transpersonal Self is expressed uniquely through each personal ego or small self: each way the “i” is tempered. This is where we grow, and open out into the branches of the Tree, and the heart of it which is Tifareth:  the beauty.

Menorah - showing Hebrew Sefiroth; and Tree of Life, showing the Sefiroth in English. Sefiroth means sphere or emanation.

Menorah – showing Hebrew Sefiroth; and Tree of Life, showing the Sefiroth in English. Sefiroth means sphere or emanation.

Many interpretations of today’s Grand Cross are locked into strutting sandwich-boards of doom.    So what’s new?  The symbols may be read as a closed-circuit or as a living spiral.  It is as old as the hills for the human monkey to look out there and project fear, drama and death onto what we view, and to give away to it, all our power.   During an eclipse period we are vulnerable to our negatives;  and it is Easter too.

What is the lesson now?  Seeing – and suffering –  a negative trend, keep the mysterious option open, wherein it swims.  Hold in consciousness both realities;  choose the limitless, and let the limitation within it, melt.  To access the power which knows the way, we need to look at life unfolding inside ourselves.  We tend not to.  It is more amusing, more horrifying and more dramatic to look at what the politicians and the corporations are doing.

Here is where it starts, and it takes strength to keep open, and to be in touch with ourselves where we really, really are.   The rest is hearsay, habit and a shrinking screen.

The Grand Cross mirrors human values and chivalry, as well as tension, challenge and change.

Ask:  am I a rigid frame, or do I dance?

“Move with the movement, keeping still, move with the beauty of the Tao in its flow of balancing, re-equilibrating. What seems dark to you is the water moving, and nature’s exquisite tendency to flow in and out of stress points. Sitting on the nub of what seems to be depression and insecurity, is a place from which to view the ebb and flow of life; without judgement, including the mood, without the mood. Tao is uncertainty. Don’t make it an enemy.

”Touch the muddy face with tenderness, and allow it to complete itself.”

These are thoughts inspired by Master Han, who wove his poems from the grasses and rocks of Cold Mountain in the 9th century AD:  here is a drawing of my own interface with him.  I had forgotten him!  Quietly he emerges from the dark corner of my soul.

Grand Easter Cross, Part 4 – Problems

..

Angel with rabbit, 1988

Angel with rabbit, 1988

There is a small green book by the astrologer Roy Gillett called Economy, Ecology and Kindness.  It reviews the major astrological events during the present two decades of Pluto in Capricorn, and its thesis is of turning-point:  it is crucial for “kindness” to begin to pervade governmental and financial institutions progressively, as in our kindred, our relationships and with Nature, at all levels.   Well worth a read.   And kindness begins at home.

I am having quite a hard time just now – unkind to myself –  and serendipitous insights from fellow bloggers give me a real pick-me-up in the morning!   Charlie wrote:  “At what point did kindness fall down, leaving the mind in charge of the rest of an entire life? … At the very bottom of the well there is you and your heart … a sacred temple for one … it matters how you vibrate and hold space.”

And this one, following Katie’s post on our mind as autopilot (see the comments also) – the challenge to discriminate this and to develop conscious creative thought:   “Mind gets on an unhelpful track and runs with it … (It is so helpful to share and realise this) … Every day is another chance to try it out.”

ANY UNHELPFUL TRACK, yes!   I am trying, as all my life, to disconnect from those unhelpful tracks, and reach the kindness in the bottom of the well.   It is hard. There is no success. It doesn’t get better or easier.   Each time the same bleak misery, then identify, name it, and disengage – and glimpse space and truth through the fog – the same struggle. Poor Easter bunny!

Seeking enlightenment

Seeking enlightenment

..

Actually I spent the whole of Easter Sunday – after finishing and posting “Magdalene” – in bed (my burrow) reading Joanna Trollope and having short sleeps (by evening I was unhappy again).

Anyway, this is the poor old human condition, and we are in a mess, because we valiantly espouse our UNHELPFUL TRACKS and fervently believe in them.   The problem is my belief in myself being bad. The scolding mother has an embedded authority, and asserts this belief as top news item, come on, don’t tell lies, own up.

On the other hand, the weekend’s Tarot oracles show the lovers, the fool, and strength, they show me pujas and rose gardens, it beams to me the solace and articulate wisdom of fellow bloggers, THIS is real, this is the real condition, not my mental-assertive concrete bits.  Caught between the two, and with pain and grief in my stomach, I yet see my mind’s “unhelpful track” for what it is, ephemeral.  This helps me “lose” its command station, its power over my mood, its way of shutting me down.

But by yesterday evening, I was without community again.   That is what it does.

I am in community again now, thanks to writing, and I note my weakness; the idea I should do or be something bold and strong for Easter Grand Cross Bunny, and Pluto on my Jupiter – I feel actually overwhelmed and disabled by it all.   As a volunteer, I standunder the human condition –  where it lives, where we live in and out of community.   This is a useful definition.

The well - November 2013

The well – November 2013

..

I live alone, and am vulnerable to battle and monitor these states.   That is to say: to endure them, and keep remembering – just enough – to awake from within them; to be kind?   to feel what is true. Kindness and … (visually) broken concrete slabs and landfill – the hard, dead, crumbling rubbish that gets thrown into the well – this and kindness –  kindness is the deep dark water which breathes.   Focus on kindness as “real love”.   Focus the open and never ending story.   Make this thought-form “Accurate, profound, courageous, positive” as Paul Foster Case wrote of Tarot Key 8 Soul Strength.

Change the pattern, and you change the result.

And if I go under and have to keep starting over, this is not failure.   It is work in progress.   It always even if for a brief time each day, awakes.   This is ongoing.

Good meditators and advaitins spurn the mind.   Some people have an ability to set themselves apart from the unhelpful tracks.   I haven’t.   And perhaps it is my nature and my job to suffer them (usually from ‘something I did wrong to someone else’), because dissolving their delusion each time, develops the muscle of what is true.   Like now, I see through the delusion into the kingdom of kindness – the unhelpful track is IRRELEVANT!

There is no fantasy in kindness:  just do and be it.

There is a big insight into why therapy can be for long intervals stuck and unproductive.   It is because the client is churning around and along the unhelpful track … the Great Story Fantasy of Done and Done-to.

The infertile Done and Done-to story fades.   It bears no relation to the light of today, to the river, and to kindness.   The Done and Done-to ethic is contagious through the lower mind in a novel, or something someone says … a collective opinion rules the unhappy roost for a time, until I slowly ignore it and climb out from the slurry.

cockerel

..

What is interesting, is how compelling it is.   It fastens on every operating wheel and lever of my mind and mood.   Of course, it is depression.   Depression is when I am cut off from community, from family … in the unhelpful track of me.   Depressives suffer from seemingly massive insights and motor feebleness.   Depression is the magnified self-script and scolding mother – a child too small and exhausted to tidy the house or cheer up or do anything interesting.   See?

Neptune in Pisces; Tarot Keys 12 and 18. This will be the Ascendent here in London when the Grand Cross is in full focus (23 April 4.15 gmt). On the Tree of Life, this represents Malkuth, the sphere of action, embodiment, materiality, type of birth.

Neptune in Pisces; Tarot Keys 12 and 18. This will be the Ascendent here in London when the Grand Cross is in full focus (23 April 4.15 gmt). On the Tree of Life, the Ascendent represents Malkuth, the physical sphere of action, embodiment, materiality, type of birth.   Neptune represents the Godhead, cosmic source.   They combine as the divine thread or KAV, through the Tree of Life:  as above, so below.

Neptune in Pisces! –  sounds mystical, but is actually the Hanging Man’s (reversals and turning-points) Self-surrender within the Moon-child’s journey of embodiment. There is the Self, head down in the well, being born and breaking invisible rocks:  a paragon of high and noble spirituality.

And there are my small-dog personal selves, sent to the bottom of the class to begin their journey again, through the Piscean Path’s snakes and ladders.

But the Self in the well – is where it bottoms out.   All is well.

The Piscean path of the Moon in Key 18 evolves from earliest life forms clambering from the sea – or the desert – to humanity and consciousness.  The sign Pisces rules the feet. The record is kept in that tiny part of our brain, the medulla oblongata, just where the spinal cord reaches the head.   It holds our lizard memory.  The distant mountain is Key 9, the Hermit’s illumination.   And what do the digits of 18 add up to?

Arcana 6 Lovers - detail

In the Lovers Key Six, there is the mystery of that same pointed peak between them: they do not touch.

..

Tarot Arcana 4 & 5:  the Emperor (Aries) and the Hierophant (Taurus)

Taurus begins, today and tomorrow.   This thought opens my fire and earth landscape between Aries and Taurus, where I have the North node … the liberating Beauty, its fullness with life and humanity.   Be brave.   Be bold.   Be kind.   The Moon today works through Capricorn.

With these images, the Inner Lover is back, quite physically, through the wood and the well.   The discarnate One is closer than my breath:   I receive. I become still, with the subtle Kingdom in my pulse.   Touch and be touched with the root of the well which is kindness;   move onward with this, keep walking, the Hermit is not on a far distant mountain, his staff is in my hand, and so is his lamp with the Seal of Solomon.

footprints - Version 2

..

So on with the Red Book.

Jung writes:  “The small grains of sand have rolled in fabulous primordial oceans, over them swam primordial monsters with forms never beheld before. Where were you man, in those days? On this warm sand lay your childish primordial animal ancestors, like children snuggling up to their mother.   O mother stone, I love you.   I lie snuggled up against your warm body, your late child. Blessed be you, ancient mother. Yours is my heart and all glory and power. Amen.

“What am I saying …?   — Here the stones form states. … Is it the sun or is it these living stones, or is it the desert that makes my head buzz?”

In the desert there is nothing but prayer, the posture of prayer.

..

He returns to the Anchorite, to the Hermit. He tells him, “Why, all the things that you must experience in the desert, you wonderful man!   Even the stones are bound to speak to you …   although the thirsty desert surrounds us, an invisible stream of living water flows here.” Jung

He tells the Hermit that he is a stranger to the teaching – more foreign than one from Britain’s furthest shore – and has much to learn. The Anchorite tells him he “found inexpressible words to greet the break of day: let the heathen prayer to Helios suffice; be astonished at nothing, and in no sense condemn or regret it.   Let us go to work.”

The Anchorite (who is Ammonius Sacca) goes on to tell how he himself was freed from the awful predicament of spinning words – the days when he was a famous university lecturer in Alexandria.

..

 ..

The Scarab is a classical rebirth symbol. In my own light: the desire is to honour a Mystery effectively, to worship it well in its moving parts.   When I fail in any part of this, I suffer until the imprint fades. I suffer as an artist, getting the painting wrong.

The Greater Mystery of Life does not oblige me to be happy or sad. Those are adjuncts and adjectival only. The Greater Mystery does not mind how long my route turns around it, for it is timeless.   My Grand Easter Cross produces the scarab, and symbols of birth and death and second-birth, and planting flowers in the garden, and the word “COMMITMENT”.

In my desert I discover a greater commitment perhaps, and realise my faith is to my interior, and it doesn’t matter if it cannot or should not be told.   In the same instant of in-turning to source, is the outward flowing NOW, the connective fibre with the human family, as given.   The situation is so simple.

..

Daffodils in Douglas Harding

Daffodils in Douglas Harding

Thus, for me, the Grand Cross resets my commitment, the same way as a home-hub modem is reset, by turning it off, then on again; or a piano is re-tuned.   The resetting recurs again and again in life, but is likely to be profound during a major astrological event.   And in the resetting is the soul’s dark night, a little death: paralysis for a while.   A fixed patter dies.

Dies Irae – from the deep we cry to thee.

Magdalene

The name “Magdalene” is derived from a Hebrew word, magda, meaning “tower”:  a vessel for the second birth.

the tomb - October 2000

the tomb – October 2000

..

This morning in my dark night of the soul, I remember a painting I did.  Here is its story:
(3 October 2000): “Season of mist and mellow fruitfulness.  If I am sitting in the retort, seeing out of the window, the birds of mercury that fly by, are throbbing warm feathered vitalities of the Spirit.

“On Sunday a powerful bolt of feeling – listening to Messiaen’s organ music of Mary Magdalene/Jesu in the sepulchre (No.11 in Livre du Saint-Sacrement) – produced this drawing.  Mary M is leaning back into him and giving birth to the Sun, which is still inside her.  He appears in the grey dawn when she thinks he is dead:  he says her name very quietly, and her heart awakes with joy.

In the night I woke up with foxes shrieking outside;  and I felt in myself what was still blurred in this drawing.  A “hermes sensation” came slowly over me, with the teaching.  On Monday morning I completed it – a cracking dawn landscape, her womb.  The rocky cave around these beings became like the original Serpent.  Christianity is more timeless with adam and eve, and more esoterically erotic, with the Son being born through Mother Earth, than most of its caretakers might care or dare to see.

water into wine

“Then last night I dreamed I’d given birth to a baby, and now the pair of us – baby and I – were engaged on the enormous and exhausting task of feeding the baby from my inner body;  i.e. to find a position where this could be done, how to hold it and the blankets around us (as Earth):  the vast and cooperative hunger of the child.”

“O Night you black wet-nurse of the golden stars!  From this darkness all things that are in the world have come as from its spring or womb.”

Thomas Vaughan

“The red and the white tinctures of alchemy are in this drawing:  the pinkish violet in the rocks around him like the changing of the water into wine.  It is a geode, and also the fresh, cold sea.”

..

19 April 2014
I recall now, that I did the drawing with an awareness of history.  Like Jesu’s agony in the garden, foreseeing perhaps the centuries of abuses in his name, the woman bears with the Sun in her labour and return, a knowledge of how she will be suppressed, distorted and demonized, for religious reasons.  Deep down, the Yeshua Maria consciousness is alive, two halves of the same seed.

two men with bread and wine_0001_2

Easter is a family time.  On holy Saturn’s day, when all the religious images in their churches are shrouded, I sorrow also – my sense of apartness.  It aches sharply through my hands; but the pain brings connection to my creativity.   I asked my Tarot for a key to open my day with.  It turns out to be Key 0, the Fool:  the alchemist:  the eternal antidote to depression.   To the left and right, I found the Lovers and Soul Strength.

Yes, the stone will roll away and the Son of Man will come out.  In this moment the cave of the tomb is Mary Magdalene, as in my painting; and he called her name, she heard, and he came and stood beside her.  He is free.

The solace is as ever, my interior world and its precise vision;  it wakes through the shutters.   Life strides on brightly through the shadows;  all is well;  there are these passing shadow states.  Connecting seems to happen through the passage of pain through my hands – brief and sharp, like lightning – for the creatures of the forest begin to stir – the Glory begins to stir – my resources flow their lifeblood through me, I am in the dawn.  The healing is that I am not limited.   Don’t get bogged down with life.  Keep travelling the mountains and the ravines.  Pick me up each time.  “If you don’t fight with life, Life takes you up and puts you on her shoulder” …  an old Osho song.

I climbed out of the dark night and grasp the bright, sun warmed rock.   Be at peace with the turning point, however it manifests:  for still there is pain, and the grief of having been unwise, and now my trapped negative nerve is clamouring.   Look to the progress of humanity, of human values:  courage, honesty, mindfulness and real love.

the Fool with Lovers & Strength

You see, the Fool travels at dawn, the Lovers are open, the lady restrains the red Lion so he will roar in a different way, he will sing to the dawn.  The red Lion is bound to her body softly, with roses.   Look to the human values, and mend.

In the churches, the holy images are draped in mourning cloths.  If we have a troubling inner issue, we are likely to be crucified on it for holy Saturn’s day.  Fall, fall, fall into the dark tomb and rise again as Light.  Everything that is preached about this, is theory.  I have to do and be it myself, or pass for ever, the buck.

In my previous post, I mentioned that we can reflect on the April Grand Cross in our skies, as an emblem of noble human qualities.  Not surprisingly, it is struck for the highest orders of knighthood.

..

Here is a small gallery of Maltese crosses:

The portrait of Sir Geoffrey (painted in Oslo, in 1988, showing his CBE) reveals my early fascination with medals.  I researched them carefully, and went into a rather mystic state when painting them. For me, the mystic dimension has great precision – far more so than the muddle of our beliefs in life. I intuited them as elder emblems of human value.  I was attracted to their geometry and detail.  At that time I was just about to study Kabbalah.

The two final crosses show the cardinal points with their zodiac signs – fire, water, earth, air.  In those days I did a lot of work with the Tetragrammaton (JHVH) on the Cross of Ezekiel – my text book was Mouni Sadhu’s The Tarot (Mandala 1962).  I drew and experimented with placing the four elements in different points of the compass.

Today is Good Friday, and we concelebrate the light and shadow of Easter Cross.

Finally, here is an esoteric explanation of the Maltese Cross from a theosophical book called Saint Germain on Alchemy, recorded by Mark and Elizabeth Prophet.  The chapter on the Maltese Cross of God, Power, Love and Wisdom inspired me years ago, and I am glad to rediscover it.  To read it, click on any page:

Page 283 continues: “Thus is the fullness of God’s kingdom conferred upon his sons and daughters – thus through the pattern of the Maltese Cross is the concept of “Thine is the Power” realised!”

Those ideas inspired – in 2003 – this ‘conventional’ portrait of Saint-Germain.  It is unlike my other ones of him as a musician, alchemist and diplomat, in 18th century dress.  See http://janeaquariel.wordpress.com

Part Two:  Tarot Keys

23 April 2014 Grand Cross

23 April 2014 Grand Cross

In my previous posts, we looked at Uranus in Aries (fire) square to Pluto in Capricorn (earth).  In picture language, we see The Fool in Key 4, the Emperor – both in profile, but with different attitudes: the Fool dances and begins:  the Emperor surveys and is vigilant.

Aries is a sign of birth and soldiery.  Capricorn is a sign of old age and authority – the controlling powers.  Both signs at present show transformation, wake-up call and upheaval.  They are in Square aspect – a 90 degree angle.  There is a lot of tension, but also room for building work, as they are part of the Grand Cross.  T-squares – an opposition pivoting on a right-angle – are found in the charts of creative artists and high achievers.   It takes work, and a passion for finding a solution to difficulties.

Uranus in 13 Aries is set in Cardinal Square to Pluto in 13 Capricorn, as pictured by The Judgement (Ascension) and the Shadow (Materiality). Note that under the Shadow’s authority, man and woman are in fantasy bondage to each other.   In the Judgement, they open up and out, give birth, and are uplifted.  This Key pictures a quantum leap.  The Archangel is Gabriel whose trumpet calls the unique and beloved infant in each one of us. The Shadow effigy stands in front of Archangel Uriel of the lightning-flash.

..

Today I am looking at Jupiter in Cancer square to Mars in Libra.

Jupiter in Cancer, Keys 10 and 7

Jupiter in Cancer, Keys 10 and 7.

Jupiter (Key 10) is exalted in Cancer (Key 7) the sign of growth and tidal movement. This combination fascinates me, for the Wheel is on the Chariot. Idly, I reflect that the Chariot was stationary because a wheel broke, and Jupiter brings the repair kit and moves things along. A highly auspicious partnership. I had a dream, recently, about this. An articulated lorry got stuck, and the calm sea filled with great waves which came over the land from the horizon, and lifted the vehicle onwards.

Mars in Libra, keys 16 & 11The Mars (Key 16) energy is uneasy and excessive in Libra’s (Key 11) serene prevarications and shifting diplomacies.  Mars is in his detriment in this Venusian sign.  He wishes he could be where Uranus is now – in his own sign Aries – and change everything.  In places among us, truth speaks through shattering walls of falsehood;  seed cracks for the plant to grow;  chrysalis decays and releases an inconceivable butterfly.  This is regulated by
cosmic Justice or equilibrium.

On the planetary Tree of Life, Jupiter is Hesed, grace and opportunity;  Mars is Gevurah –  discipline and constraints in the triad of the soul.  On the face of it, these images in right-angle stress, balance each others’ archetypal character, for Jupiter is growth, and Mars rules the energy of that process.  But astrologically, Jupiter is in his sign of strength;  Mars in Libra is swayed this way and that.   Watch the tide.

Any further comments on these pictorial effects, are welcome!

Secret dakini oracle 18 April 2014

Secret dakini oracle 18 April 2014

Here is a fascinatingly precise answer to … my personal question, this week.  The cross’s vertical arm shows a transformative process – rising fire or altered state – Blow your Mind’s shisha and let it go.  The Joker’s body is pure solar energy and fun.  Horizontally the sacred masculine – (a priest’s puja with flowers over the shiny black lingum) – and the sacred feminine (the flowers in the rose garden, yoni) are honoured, and in balance.  Siva’s “cremation ground” between them, is his dance floor – a challenging ascension through confronting death and Reality.  It is related to Tarot Key 7, the Chariot.

To each side of this spread are – left-pillar or past – the Ally, corresponding to Tarot Key 15, the Shadow:  confronting the unconscious.  And (right-pillar or future), having ‘blown it’  – dakini 64’s Cosmic Smile !

In my notebook I jotted for general reference:  “The jewel … is the most precious thing on earth, and the most abused thing on earth.  Carry it with reverence.  It is the same with words.  Do not use them, without their pulse of meaning.   What is respect?  Respect is commitment and cultivation.  The vessel, the seed, the human, needs shattering, to be born.  The seed which didn’t get thrown around, is cherished.

“Miracle is real, through the stony beach of life.  The miraculous is the natural state:  stop thinking, and listen. The philosophers’ Stone is free to all who recognise and carve it in our shared subtle body of Life.  Thank you, peace pipe dreamer, for understanding this.

“Miracle this morning, through the sign of the cross, changed my attitudes.  Every single one of us, each fish, each elephant, plant and tree, is turned a little, by the cosmic crossing through our Earth body.  How do I feel?  Tears of joy earlier.  Now tired, and need to sleep.

April Grand Cross & Tarot Keys, Part 2

..

15 April 2014 - a chart of today's lunar eclipse on the forming Grand Cross. The moon and retro mars in Libra are a warlike feature, balanced by the grand trine venus-neptune in Pisces, with Jupiter and Saturn.

15 April 2014 – a sketch-chart of today’s lunar eclipse on the forming Grand Cross. The moon and retro mars in Libra, (opposite mercury-uranus in Aries), are a warlike feature, balanced by the grand trine venus-neptune in Pisces, with Jupiter and Saturn:  Venus exalted in Pisces in 10th house suggests a factor towards peace making.  This is a chart of opposite waves, and of unexpected change:  indeed a tipping-point.  The Eclipse period lasts until the 29th of this month.  The seed of eclipse is alignment in the planes of Sun, Moon, Earth.

**

Here is a precis of a recent Kabbalah meeting, in which we looked at a chart of today’s formation of the Grand Cross.

This morning, 15 April at 8.47 gmt, the Moon is eclipsed in Libra by the Sun in Aries. This might be a peak or tipping point.   We examine our impulses working for and against the situation. The crisis affects every one of us personally – to make up our mind: do we go forward? Or back?

Observe the shifting ground, the Karmic connections between involved nations, individuals and their planetary patterns.

Tonight – 15 April is Seder night – when the children of Israel left bondage and travelled into a new way of life. This applies to us all. In the gross media among nations, we can only hope the decision is peaceful. Pluto in Capricorn is Da’at – the space for long term processes – the knowledge of a civilization at the end of an époque: to evolve? Or to revert to savagery?   The present tension cannot go on.

Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto is assigned to Tarot Key 20, Judgment (ascension) and Capricorn is the sign ruling Key 15, the Devil. Behind the tension of opposites is their deliverance and release - the triad as with the child in Key 20.

Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto is assigned to Tarot Key 20, Judgment (ascension) and Capricorn is the sign ruling Tarot Key 15, the Devil. Behind the tension of opposites is their deliverance and release – the triadic release, as with the child in Key 20 – the family of humankind.

The Grand Cross works out in terms of our local interest and the bigger picture of the human community.   Are we selfish?   Or are we a human family? – our childrens’ children?

It is tentatively suggested that the World War One multiple-reactive patterns in Europe are now UNACCEPTABLE. This never before happened in history.  The economy cannot support them.  The situation is cosmic. In our sphere, the turn of the spiral crosses 1914 – the pattern was repeated since Roman-empire times.  Attempts to “secure” land go out of date, in the era of internet trading.   The guiding Hand pushes the situation as a challenge; the Tree of Humanity sways back and forth.  In 1962 (Cuban crisis) the planetary line-up was lop sided – with nearly all the planets in one sign, Aquarius –  and very dangerous.   The line-up this year is less so, because the celestial tensions are evenly balanced.

OBSERVE IN OURSELVES CLEARLY: local self interest versus the bigger picture in our conscience: watch the months following April.  Someone mentioned a recent TV programme on the beginning of cosmos, and the subtle electronics of our body – how illogical and unscientific it is to say “it just happened”!

Forces are at work at a very subtle level. Only from a Kabbalist-history standpoint can we get some idea of the bigger picture unclouded by surface hype and fears. A general feeling emerges here, that nothing spectacular occurs, but a great deal changes, which future perspective will reveal.   Countless geo-political and ecological factors are involved.  We shall see.

Uranus (The Fool or Pilgrim) in Aries (The Emperor, or Constitutional intelligence). This combination is a wake-up call, for Uranus is "change" and the Emperor's sign Aries is "seeing".

Uranus (The Fool or Pilgrim) in Aries (The Emperor, or Constitutional intelligence). This combination is a wake-up call, for Uranus signifies “change” and the Emperor’s sign Aries is “seeing” – and also, Aries is the first-born in the Zodiac.

Uranus on 13 Aries forms an exact right angle to Pluto on 13 Capricorn (see above, in this post).  Since summer 2012 and until spring 2015, we experience a series of seven tight “squares” between these two planets.  23 April will culminate the fifth in this series of seven.

Additional meanings are:  Capricorn, old age;  Aries, birth.

Pluto through Capricorn uproots old and outworn infrastructures – everything that was toxic emerges.  It is an agent of transformation and renewal.

The Tarot Keys are assigned to the signs and planets of the Zodiac, according to the Hebrew alphabet.  Letter Aleph (the Fool) is Uranus;  Letter Heh (the Emperor) is Aries the Ram. Uranus (radical change and revolution) in the Zodiac’s sign of birth, Aries, illustrates the obvious wake-up call.   A wealth of personal association may be discovered through contemplating these images.   For instance:  the relationship of dogs to sheep! – or “unarmoured” and “armoured”.   Please feel free to comment!

The Grand Cross is elegantly depicted here, as the bow across the strings.

The Grand Cross is elegantly depicted here, as the bow across the strings.  The hands depict the angle of Aries and Capricorn.

In the School of Cremona, the violin makers were a soul group. Modern American violin makers don’t know how to do it!   They unglued Stradivarius violins, took them apart, to find the secret – and they couldn’t.

Likewise, the esoteric view on history escapes linear historians.   The principle comes into focus in the NOW – our current understanding of psychology: our rights and wrongs in nature: and how Providence operates through the numerous Schools of the Soul when we sit and listen. It is a different climate from the past, indicating a new unfolding future. More persons are being trained than ever before. The Schools of the Soul are what Jesus meant when he said “you are salt of the earth”.

Ez Haim, the Tree of Life

Ez Haim, the Tree of Life

Never underestimate the general telephone exchange and post office – Hod on the Tree of Life. How beautifully organised it is! We mess things up when we don’t notice them.

Though the Grand Cross configuration is massive, the decisions individuals make, matter; and for us personally, these decisions feel terrifyingly important to get right.   We are cells of Adam Qadmon.  Change and progress are inevitable.

Only individuals can change things and set the ball rolling – and not necessarily with great effort, it may come naturally.   It is about DOING YOUR JOB – or wanting to do it!   It is provided.

A friend was made a non-executive director of a company. He noticed how the business conducted itself in the boardroom much better in his listening and attentive presence, than it did when he was involved and trying to run it. A non-executive director in Life, learns all the time by listening – by being detached and seeing.   The art of life refrains from trying to tread the gear or push the action.

This is pure Da’at on the Tree – operating by inference, and not by leaning into the situation. Rather than try to fix someone’s problem… hear the voice, hear her speak, so she hears herself and melts her own resistance to solution.

Solution is relationship – an interior connection..   Da’at is Yesod of the higher world. A director in a company who watches and takes notes, gets everyone working – it irritates or galvanizes the workers a little!   The Da’at of any situation is its essence, lightly touched to life.

Further thoughts for today: The Order of the Grand Cross is the most advanced in many knighthoods.  I hadn’t realised this.  Why not regard the planetary Grand Cross in this light – a sign of nobility?  What is noble? – the aspiration towards the best in human nature:  values which endure and transfigure great difficulties.  Lean consistently towards the better in myself, to which I aspire, and towards what works for the bigger picture, as far as I can see.  Cultivate it here.  Keep remembering, keep picking myself up through raw and vulnerable moments, remember again, and draw strength from that quality.

It occured to me, that I can take certain qualities – such as courage, honesty, mindfulness, real love – and contemplate them.  For what we contemplate we become.

Then a friend rang up this morning and told me he had a dream.  A voice in it was saying, “Cry me a river”.  The human racket goes on, and there is a deep grief and pain of life.  Go into a secluded garden and make it beautiful, he said.  When the tension eases, as we go into May and June, we all shall do our summer planting, as  spring this year buds and flowers a month early – we had no winter frosts.

Sad it is for each of us, that the pain in humanity is our non-recognition – often until late in life – of our Soul Law triad (Hesed, Gevurah, Tifareth) and its response to the transpersonal Daat in the tree.  We are born again, we come into life without the integrating memory, and we have to find it all over again, like a blind person feeling along the walls of a room (between people) towards … the open door.

We recreate our wholeness again and again, through the sweat of our brow, the willingness of the heart, and the sturdiness of our limbs to turn the earth and make it fruitful.  We labour to give birth.  The awakened “quantum” of humanity is – as ever through history – of homeopathic potency in its dilution.  The ratio remains about steady.

The April Grand Cross in Tarot Keys

..

Grand Cardinal Cross 23 April 2014, 04.15gmt

Grand Cardinal Cross 23 April 2014, 04.15gmt in London UK

This event is building in our lives all spring, ever since its New Moon messenger back in January.  Here – as the first in a series of posts – are some of my thoughts about it.  My drawing of the Grand Cross is coloured in the spectrum of the Tarot Keys (applied to  Zodiac signs and Houses) as taught by the Builders of the Adytum.

..

Here is a reminder of the New Moon chart at the beginning of this year: and a link.

..

Glancing across to the Red book this morning, I caught sight of the “little black beetle on a rock pushing its mythical ball of sand”, and Jung (on his journey in the desert) wondering if it creates its conscious Scarab myth: and a thought comes up, that when we are living the myth – the Great Myths & Archetypes, as well as our small local ones – we are perhaps unconscious! (We dream.)

scarab and granite

scarab and granite

Those titans who seeded their endeavours into the human collective imagination, endured (in their sight) perhaps ordinary and laborious lives, unawake to the resonance.   Perhaps the weight of the unfolding myth puts us to sleep, so future millennia will sing.

What is your myth?

I have been turned rather towards one room, lately and am loaded with Jupiter.   Time to step back a bit, and take a look through other doors. Yesterday, a lady from Cypress showed me a print-out from the internet, concerning the Christ-conscious viewpoint of the Grand Cross – the Child being born; the symbol, like a star, implying 4 and 8, and so on.   It was enough to remind me that the Grand Cross on which much human tension is projected, is an actual alignment of the Great Maestri or Hierarchy; it is full of “yogas” or points of resonance.   The Moon at 13 Aquarius in 12th, “sings” the Cross’s tone, each arm on the 13th degree of its sign.

Here briefly, is a list of Kabbalistic meanings for the number 13 gematria.  In this system, the Hebrew letters which spell a word, have numerical values.   The Hebrew consonants in each of these words add up to 13, and so each word (through spectrum of opposites), carries the same meaning as the others:

Gematria ahbh achd 13

The meanings are: “BNH, Binah (Understanding)”.  “AHBH, Love”. “AChD, Unity”. “AYB, Violation”. “BAHU, Void (desolation)”. “DAGH, Anxiety/cave/grief”.  “GHH, Healing/health”.  And GY, “Valley” …

… a depth of feeling and resonance.  Other echoes are the Sun and 12 Zodiac signs;  the Anointed One and 12 disciples, and so on.  A circle has 12 divisions and its centre, the One. “13” is union.

..

In 2011, I laid out the T-Square of Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries and Saturn in Libra with the Tarot Keys (see at the end of my next post.)   This was pictorially effective, giving a different angle for interpretation.  So this morning I laid the Grand Cross out on the floor here, the same way.

The long arm includes its Yesod foundation – Moon in Aquarius, Keys 2-17. The Ascendent (Malkuth) is Neptune in Pisces; the Hanging Man in the path of the Moon.   That goes in the centre, where the horizontal and vertical arms intersect.   Look at that! – what powerful incentives for evolution and reversal of old patterns.

We will look at each pictorial pair, in my next posts.

Whatever makes or breaks in the surface dream, here are the long term dynamics, here is the river as it flows, the Wake up call … to contemplate.

The April Grand Cross laid out in the Tarot Keys. The Wheel is Jupiter, in the Chariot, Cancer. The Judgement is Pluto, in The Devil, Capricorn. The Tower is Mars, in Justice, Libra. The Fool is Uranus, in The Emperor, Aries.

In this series of posts, I shall discuss the planet/tarot relationships in more detail. For the moment, here is the situation in picture language – (for our subconscious storehouse responds to images, rather than to words) – and here are a few general observations, below.

The Sabian-symbol degrees of the April Grand Cross are not very auspicious.  (You can look them up online). This suggests to me the cosmic capacity within us, and in the Guardians who form the Cross, and in many key personages in world events, to catalyze or bring the light right into dark situations, and to be unexpected agents for transformation. Our view of anything at present, is incomplete.

It is make or break:  a time of decision in a myriad facets of the same gem.  Are we to continue selfishly – (unacceptable) – or with conscious community?   regarding our eco-system and human family?   Isolation or connectivity?   It starts at home.

..

It so happens that the Grand Cross forms a major transit with my birthchart.  Here – for my own archive – is a brief run-through of my connecting points with it:

Pluto in 13 Capricorn, on my Jupiter.

Jupiter in 13 Cancer, opposite my Jupiter, and T-square my Neptune.

Mars retro in Libra, conjunct my Neptune (15), which it will cross on 17 April, and then again, (after the alignment), on 16 – 25 June.   Today Mars is at 17 Libra.   It will turn on 19 May at 9 Libra, to travel direct.  So look towards June for the full “effect”.

Uranus in 13 Aries, opposite my Neptune in Libra – a transpersonal contact/collective.

The Sun in 2 Taurus, conjunct my North node (touching Seal of Solomon aspect pattern).  It is in the April eclipse-alignment channel.

Saturn in 21 Scorpio, conjunct to my Midheaven/midnight axis.

Last but not least, is Neptune on the Ascendent, 7 Pisces, opposite my natal Saturn on my Ascendent.

..

..

A further thought: events such as this in the sky around us, are older than the hills.   They are always happening, and passing through one another.   There is a Star when Jesus is born, which only a few wise elders recognise. There is a Harmonic Concordance – a Star of David – at eclipse in November 2003.   There is the lunar Grand Cross in summer 2012, and the bigger Jupiter Grand Cross this month.

There are countless similar events and births.   Each time, we look, we react and point to it as our ancestors did, and load it with racial and individual conscience, and try to figure out the meanings. Each time such a star forms, there is a tension of what is to be born.  We are the system of our Sun, our Solomon.  We embody microcosmically, the serene stresses of the planets’ orbital dance and nodal points of meeting.   Always it is changing:  arise, settle, change and vanish ;  arise, settle, change, vanish …

..

Mercury April allegory, after Botticelli (2007). Note the right angle Mercury makes to the nymph, in his self-enquiring stance, like a tree. He is the messenger of the planets; their swift voice - and in the Grand Cross, Mercury is in Aries between the Sun and the south Node.

He is the messenger of the planets; their speech and bearer of tidings. In the Grand Cross, Mercury is in Aries between the Sun and the lunar-eclipse south Node, and almost overwhelmed. Keep quiet!

The Great Star patterns – such as this Grand Cross of Jupiter, Pluto, Uranus, Mars in Cardinal signs – were in place when the solar system’s present aeon through time and space began, and to the majority they pass un-noticed.   Through global networking, there is some stirring among the sleepers.   Here and there, Psyche beholds her Cupid.

But to apprehend
the point of intersection of the timeless with time,
is an occupation for the saint –
no occupation either, but something given and taken,
in a lifetime’s death in love,
ardour and selflessness and self surrender.
For most of us, there is only the unattended moment, the moment in and out of time …”

Where is Mercury on the Grand Cross in chart?  He is conjunct the Dragon’s Tail of eclipse, and almost hidden by the Sun.   In London the Sun is still asleep, it is (in 1st or 2nd House, depending on the house-system used) the hour of Dawn, the hour of the Sun’s greatest power and potency below the horizon.

A week earlier, on the 15th, the Sun eclipses the Moon.   A week later, on the 29th, Moon’s shadow will pass over the Sun. We wake when we sleep. The Archangel draws upon our door, a phoenix feather.

Millions of children in our world, young and old, are trapped in the agony of civil war, starvation, displacement and abuse.  Rain forests are destroyed, fuels are sucked from Earth, we destroy what we devour, we uphold petty arguments of empire, and those in government steal from the petty cash.  How can this go on?

Yet I feel the day will be a peaceful one.   We will be dreaming, and later events will reveal what dreams we let forth into the light.   We will in fact be delivering birth.   This is a time to be silent and hear.   It goes deeper than our emergency with ecology, climate change and international tension, for we have to get to the root – to touch the root of it within ourselves, as we are not separate.   How this feels, and how it informs you is for you to discover; for though we are not separate, our “I” is infinitely distinct and diverse in nature.

A Grand Cross of this kind, gives you a whole season, and the unfolding years, to feel it in your bones, and to grow. If you are able, be mostly at home during its peak period (15th – 29th April), and especially on the 23rd; and do practical house things to earth the currency, or to help someone who needs you.    If you are travelling, keep journeying into your private oasis, whenever you remember it is “here”.

The word “private” is highlighted here; for the Moon persona on 23 April at 4.15am in London will be in the 12th house, where she isn’t strong in the ways of the world.   The Pisces Ascendent has an introverted “psychic” character – in the higher humanitarian octave.

 ..

Respecting this trend, do not go forth too much during the peak period; do not force any issue.   Whatever agitates your fishes in the sea, is in the hand of a Power which knows the Way.   Decisions will appear, in your field, after the new-moon eclipse on the 29th – when the new cycle begins.   This will be a wonderful time to start planting in your garden.

Eclipse is a darkness, such as fell over Bethlehem the House of Bread, when the secret Child was born. The seed is like yeast or sperm. The seed falls into the ground and sprouts.   This is the meaning of Key 13.

The seed falls into the ground during autumnal Scorpio, and germinates during the winter;   this spring, we are given the whole process again in a nutshell.   If the germinating energies are very tiring, rest yourself, and don’t try to do too much.   You may feel an urgency to bring matters in your life to a head;   but this is being taken care of.   Your creative activity will gain surprising strength as the flowers come out in May, and as those forces which stir within the ground, come out onto the physical plane.   Watch this space!

..

Eclipse is a simple withdrawal of energy.   The tide goes out.   The tide comes back in again.

For more on eclipse, see my post “The Field of the Dead”.

J. Krishnamurti (who experienced and monitored his conflict in a moment-to-moment way) stated that the essence of conflict is peace.   The polarities – the high tide and the low tide – are not in conflict with each other.   He said essentially, there is no conflict in the movement, the unbroken circling of the tide itself. There is no conflict in our breathing in and out:   the Tao.   The NOW.

The Desert Rose

Hermit, Arcanum 9

Hermit, Arcanum 9

What is the desert? the innate way of unfoldment: truth.

In the Red Book, Jung journeyed and wrote: “Walking around in a circle I happen to return to myself and to him, the solitary one, who lives down in the depths hidden from the light, held securely by the warm bosom of the rock, above him the glowing desert and sharp resplendent skies.

“The solitary lives in endless desert full of awesome beauty. He looks at the whole and at inner meaning. He loathes manifold diversity if it is near him. He looks at it from afar in its totality. Consequently silvery splendour and joy and beauty cloak diversity for him. What is near him must be simple and innocent, since close at hand the manifold and complicated tear and break through the silvery splendour.”

..

There follows a long poem with expanded script, in which the magid, Philemon or Ammonius Sacca speaks:  (see italics)

“The sun and its glow nourish him … the solitary loves the desert above all since it is a mother to him, giving him food and invigorating warmth at regular intervals.”

Thus also the interior sun of the soul.   I have mist on my window. I am dull this morning, and out of relationship.   I have nothing and am uneasy with what I have.   Yet I know it is condensation on the window, which blurs life, and the sun – Great SOLomon – will clear it as he rises. The creatures and the histories of the soul wake up slowly, and give the prospect some positive meaning.   The soul is a full engagement with everything.   I think this defines the soul.   With the waking up there is a deepening of the mirage, and some change of key.

The thin Hermit in his hut with his book and the heat, wanders in an orchard of lush fruit and flowers, all reaching for his hand, his breath. He engages with the desert.   “Fragrant resins drip from his trees, and under his feet, thrusting seed breaks open.

..

I engage with North London. It is the poetry of life in whatever medium.  Sometimes the poet over-reaches, fantasises and falters. The poet has an ethical task, to remain where it is real, and to question every surplus.   The poet has an ethical task: to not invent.   Invention turns to mist on the window.

I think for human default mode generally, “the horror of the desert and its withered evaporation …” permeates the conventional stress of livelihood, entertainment and mortgage.   For the hermit in the Libyan desert or in North London … “he stammers when he speaks of the indescribable fullness, his eye rests on the garden, his ears listen to the source, his breath draws in sweet perfume from blossom rich trees.” …

..

..

I see the hermit in the midday sun, in the deep shade of his tent or hut, with book and abundance: the ferocity of the dry heat, the ringing silence, his parched limbs, the rustlings.   I see human security which seeks above all else to cover my head with a roof and a story.   The stories in our souls are read to us at bedtime, to keep us covered and safe.   The hermit falls into a place where he cannot write any story at all; there is no room for it.   The sea in my face is a desert.   From the desert all things come.   In the desert is the well, and the camel drinks.

There are many sounds in the desert – of the soft mother, the wind; and of cracked insects and darting lizards.   There is the endless sound of space. This is the fruit the Hermit hears.   HERE.

Hear it through the trains, the passing cars, the songbirds in the budding trees. All of London is the sound in this corner of it which is silence: this window on which a Rune is drawn in the dew: my body’s unending kiss with gravity.

Are not lovers the gravity with each other? Is not the Hermit the gravity with God?   In this mode the thought with the beloved is gravity.   The Hermit’s daily dawn footprints through the silver dunes are blowing in the wind.   Their edges soften, but he walks some more, and again next day.   There is always the trace of his passing, and the wanderer finds it, follows the thread to the web’s gossamer centre, follows the Sun’s rays inwards, becomes still and is blessed.   The Question is left open.   The wanderer abandons the answer he or she seeks.

“He gives you a small insignificant fruit, which has just fallen at his feet. It appears worthless to you, but if you consider it, you will see that this fruit tastes like a sun which you could not have dreamt of. It gives off a perfume which confuses your senses and makes you dream of rose gardens and sweet wine and whispering palm trees. And you hold this one fruit in your hand dreaming, and you would like the tree from which it grows, the garden in which this tree stands, and the sun which brought forth this garden …

“And you yourself want to be that solitary who strolls with the sun in his garden, his gaze resting on pendant flowers, and his hand brushing a hundred fold of grain and his breath drinking the perfume from a thousand roses.

“Dull from the sun and drunk from fermenting wines, you lie down in ancient graves, whose walls resound with many voices and many colours of a thousand solar years.

“When you grow, then you see everything living again as it was. And when you sleep, you rest, like everything that was, and your dreams echo softly again from distant temple chants.

“You sleep down through the thousand solar years, and you wake up through the thousand solar years, and your dreams full of ancient lore adorn the walls of your bedchamber. You also see yourself in the totality.”
