Discovering Alchemy in the Tarot Keys

Priestess, Justice, Emperor - Tarot Keys which spell "galah" meaning 'to discover or reveal'.

Priestess, Justice, Emperor – Tarot Keys which spell “galah” meaning ‘to discover or reveal’.

Three BOTA Tarot Keys (read from right to left) spell a Hebrew word:  Galah (GLH).

This word means to Uncover, denude, strip of concealment.  It looks rather formal with three throned figures.  Yet, what is hidden in subconscious recollection (the Priestess, Gimel) may be upraised with the Sword and Scales (Lamed, the Law) and sighted openly in the Emperor (Heh, long range vision).  Justice is the law of Equilibrium.  The Emperor is alert: the reasoning mind.

The word Galah is a shorthand for any taxing process in life, and the gradual unveiling of its essence which is Alchemy.

The law of Equilibrium is supreme here.   The Priestess wears a cross.  Justice wears the bottom half, a T for TAV, and the Emperor carries the top half in his regal ball (with a cross on top). Look carefully, for another cross in his Key!   Nothing is stripped bare but the truth;  and truth is poised throughout all phenomena, without frontier.  Truth is also hard won, through the goad of Karma in the Justice card.

Justice and the Emperor carry out-front their emblems of status:  the Priestess is discreet.  The cellular memory in her scroll, flows from her lap as the waters from the mountain.   The cellular memory – the Akashic record – converts seamlessly into the cloth which fits today.  Every single little detail on the loom is in the Record of the Rocks.   I feel suddenly that every item I am now, my house, clothes, ideas and story, recalls Plantagenet history –  I happen to be reading about it just now. On that turbulent high-medieval period, many Tarot archetypes were based.  I am much the same, today.  I have the same feelings and fears.  The Moon converts through Mercury, what I am, or believe myself to be … throughout the ages’ teeming diversity of Consciousness and Creation.   The human-ness.

Realisation of this, may lead to mastery of Karmic situations and samskaras.   It cleaves them with the Sword of Justice, as it recognises the elder version under the present cloth.   We are one.  Justice wears the red robe of action/Mars with a green mantle and cap – Venus.  The Emperor surveys his dominion – red, which is Mars.   GLH, galah: to disclose – to unveil.

The alchemical First Matter is distributed equally through all phenomena AS IT IS AT HOME.   Note that the Priestess and Justice both sit in front of a veil, a pargod.   Only a tiny bit of the Priestess’s floor is visible:  it is yellow, the colour code of Divine consciousness: E in the musical scale.   And behind Justice’s throne, heavy purple curtains are parted a little, to admit that yellow tone.   The Emperor holds a yellow sceptre – a T with a very long stem and a circle on top, like a Venusian glyph.

Tree of Life and Menorah

Tree of Life and Menorah

The Keeper of the Records is the Priestess.  She has the winged opening at her back, as a Tree of ripe peachy pomegranates and green palms.  The moon between her horns is Daat on the Tree of Life: the cross on her breast is Tifareth: the scroll in her lap is Yesod.  Daat and Yesod, the transpersonal and the personal, are hidden to each other, yet united through translation.

The curtains behind Justice are parted at the same place … where the wings begin.   The Emperor surveys his red crystal canyon and orange sky.  Surprisingly, grass grows at his feet – the hardiest herb.   Green is the code tone for Venus.  Now, the Emperor is Aries ruled by Mars, and Justice is Libra, ruled by Venus.  The Priestess is the Moon, our tidal and cyclic nature through lifetimes.

Narrow minds find it difficult to enjoy the element.   It might be for them an altar object;  a cloister.   Angry at anyone who doesn’t tip the toe just so.   Paradoxically however, the teaching must be guarded against adulteration and distortion.   The shrine keepers have an essential role.

Note that Justice (11) and the Priestess are both 2;  the Emperor is 2 squared, which is 4 – the first square root.   (Because The Fool is 0, and assigned to Aleph, letter 1 in the alephbeis, the other 22 Tarot keys follow suit.  Thus, the Magician, Key 1, carries letter Beit, 2 – and so on.)

Sword & Onion

I noticed while re reading, that my imaginary Sword is of crystal.   The Sword of light which parts the waves, did crystallize from the shining metal.   I should meditate each morning on my Rose Cross sanctum?  But I find my way there, anyway, through thick and thin.  Peace be still.  Crystal is a living, flowing metal, a blade of the sun and moon with mercury.  It parts the waves of why the sea is salt.  It bends like a glass blade, and it melts with heat, and yet it is very powerful.   Think of it fluid, and at rest, on the sanctum table with a golden cross at whose heart unfurls a velvet red Rose.  Sink into the zabad perfume, which is ancient and evocative once it settles down.   I feel the far cities at sea:  the musky resins and their honeyed mixtures.   I was always a sailor, a trader of rare commodities.

Cup and sword copy

Artists, adventurers and merchants, eventually settle down to distil their commodities in the soul.  It transmutes from commerce to currency.  They become alchemists of the Living Path.  They distil each wine which comes to them, and make rare brandy.  They taste the grape and knead the grain.

Now, here is the 18-9-8 oracle, which I mentioned in my last post:

An oracle - Keys 9,18,8 - hermit, the moon and strength

An oracle – Keys 9,18,8 – hermit, the moon and strength

All three have the Mountain.   In alchemy, we are miners of our mountains, where the metals of earth – our body –  ascend to the sky.   It is in the background of Strength and the Moon;  the Hermit stands upon it, upon that mountain:  we walk our talk.   With his lamp he illumines the ascending souls.   The magid in the sky in Key 18 sheds YODs of light on the path for evolution.

With a similar gesture, and with her hands, the lady in Strength gently restrains the red lion, and teaches his raw Hermetic roar to purr, speak and sing.  The tone-vibration of this Key is yellow – as the Moon in 18 and the Lamp in 9.  Light presses through every appearance, every cloak and every bossy veil.  It frays our life at the edges.  When it is strong, it turns life against it, very black.   And so through the deepest black, the raven’s wing in alchemy, we often are the Light.   The Black Restful is the Light without end:  en sof.   The Light is an inner condition, an inner way:  receive.   Osiris of the Sun is ‘a dark god’ – this was whispered to initiates in days gone by.   The Light is interior peace and perspective.   The Light recognises that the learning curve of life takes much longer than overnight.  To feel more at ease with life, however strange its form, is progress.

The wolf and the dog in Key 18 feel exposed and vulnerable out in the open, without the Light, and a long way to walk.  Whatever gradient they reach, they feel as if they were sent back to start all over again, near the lobster.   Their drama at the moon almost hides the distant mountain:  the picture profoundly depicts our psychological state.  Yet they do the job in time and space, moving through the physical gate.  Embodiment is their staff and evolution.   They are like the footprints in the sand along the sea which became only one pair.   “Why am I alone?”  “Because my beloved, I am carrying you.”

The Winged Peach

..

A winged book - an open one - is like just discovering someone. I don't know their face yet.

A winged book – an open one – is like just discovering someone. I don’t know their face yet.

..

The caterpillar butterfly transition – see Rohit’s blog in previous post – is for most of us a magical archetype.  It has a ripple effect.  Sure enough, the following morning I opened Wilhelm/Jung’s translation of The Secret of the Golden Flower – an elder Taoist alchemy – and there rose up from it … something with wings!

In The Secret of the Golden Flower, it says:

“Compared to the Great Meaning, Heaven and Earth are like a bubble and a shadow.  Only the primordial spirit and the true essence, overcome time and space.  The power of the seed like Heaven and Earth, is subject to mortality, but the primordial spirit is beyond the polar differences.  Here is the space whence Heaven and Earth derive their being.”

Self enquiry is beyond and antecedes the polar differences.  How often do I practice?   Rarely.  But it is here for the point.

800px-Viola_odorata_whole

And “When men are set free from the womb, the primordial spirit dwells in the square inch between the eyes;  but the Conscious spirit dwells below, in the heart.  This lower fleshly heart has the shape of a large peach.  It is covered by the wings of the lungs, supported by the liver, and served by the bowels.

“This heart is dependent on the outside world.  If a man does not eat for one day even, it feels extremely uncomfortable.  If it hears something terrifying it throbs;  if it hears something enraging it stops; if it is faced with death it becomes sad;  if it sees something beautiful it is dazzled.

“But the Heavenly Heart in the head, when would it have been in the least moved?  Do you ask, Can the Heavenly Heart not be moved?  Then I answer, How could the true thought in the square inch (between the eyes) be moved?  If it really moves, it is not well.  For when ordinary men die, then it moves, but this is not good.  It is best indeed if the Light has already fortified itself in a spirit body, and its life-force gradually penetrated the instincts and movements.”

..

Now as the vast bulk of human beings are NOT set free from the womb of Gaia, we are in strife to overcome Her and get out.   We have no peace with our mother because we are confined to toils of fate, field and enclosure.  And so we make war and poison her soils and seas, restricting ourselves to toxic building sites.  My royal we – note – passes the buck unconsciously !

Yet, the “fortification in the Spirit body” brings forth the square inch in the square mile.   The square inch contains EVERYTHING of a square mile and that of which the square mile is a tiny square root or root cube.   Containing Everything, it has no ‘other’ to move to.   It is openly awakened into.

The Hebrew word for “Discover” (as applied to First Matter in alchemy) is a verb GALAH.   This is related to “to lay bare, to denude, to strip of concealment, to reveal the secret” and “to open a book”.  The first letter, GIMEL relates to the Priestess who holds an open book or scroll.

Tarot keys spelling (from right to left) the hebrew GLH - Galah - to uncover or denude

The second letter, L (Lamed) is the card of Karmic Justice or equilibrium.  The third letter H (Heh) symbolizes clear sight.   More of this, in my next post.  At the moment my thought is drawn to the Welsh hills.

..

The further upstream I go, by VOLONTA, the more open and bare the landscape, as in mid Wales.   Seek the opening, the well, each morning.   How?  Through a little being dazzled by the Beauty.  No emotion or state of consciousness belongs to me.   It is as I become on arrival.   When I am dazzled I am consumed:  and the flame enters the fire.

What am I inside and what am I outside of?   Conditioned building sites are the trap and fate of many souls.  But being both within and outside the Cube of space is a liberated way.

The Peach with Wings in the Golden Flower is delightful.  Lungs are great pulsing shimmering wings, propelling me along, beating sometimes fast and sometimes slow.   The Peach with Wings is the Solar head of the Caduceus.   The Wings are like the fins of a great fish-ray in the waters, with their millions of vessels and little sacs, all concordant like a murmuration of starlings.   A peach is the Fruit of Life … sometimes an apple, which serpents like to present to curvy ladies.   Watching the breath should be done lovingly, in wonder, the picture language and sense of taste.   The jewel-case opens with a sensuous flow of images.   A winged peach does what Yoga teaches.

The Lighthouse Keeper – Part Two

..

tintagel merlin

17 July                         PART TWO

I discover some thoughts in blogland which convert the esoteric learning curve and fascination, to Humanness, compassion, right living, mindful presence … which is what they truly are. They are atomic particles from a goldmine – the miners in the mountains, as the alchemists say.   Language slips away, into the hard graft, the Way of Life and love.

And I find another post, on moderation – enrich your life with simplicity, enjoying technology efficiently, but without excess.  The wealth is here and now.

I try to stay near the Hermit, for he is easy to visit across the starry water, and to find, and to cool my mind.  Enoch and the Well – see the post before “the Lighthouse Keeper part One” – was a profound contact.

The Hermit’s cottage is earth lined;  walls are minimally dressed, a plaster wash maybe, stone-flagged floor, and bits of rug.  When I go inside from the sunlight, I can just see an open fireplace for the kettle, and the table which sages and teachers have – the noble grain is scrubbed white.   There’s a bench and possibly a chair or two.   Enter this room at any moment, without even crossing the water:  a brief impression of the lake in my mind.   I am here, within the summer drone of outdoors.

9 hermit - Version 3..

The Hermit is my Tarot Arcanum 9, and sometimes he looks like this.   He doesn’t  reveal too much.  Impression of a person of great delicacy, able hands.   His presence is a sweet altitude in my breath.

When I drew him in my Arcana in 1991, I was giving up smoking.  His is the Tarot of the Will: the deep impenetrable power which picks up life and helps to overcome old addictions, however painful it is to do so.

There is an absence of the sharp smoker in my breath;  an absence of other attachments also, as they wore away.   They become light cloths or rags – the sun burnt holes in them –  they do not matter.  Yet I feel a little bereaved of my romantic intensity. Sometimes there is a “flip-flop” – as Ramesh Balsekar would say – to a momentary surface sceptic, who lost that fuel, and feels tired.

The Hermit is the well:  the well of depth, delicacy, wonder and becoming.   His blue cap is YOD – I need the concentration.   I get scattered easily.

bota key 9 hermit

I cannot see many disciples rowing across the lake with groceries for him, but I suppose he has them.   Each is like myself, and feels uniquely connected.   He is yet Self- sufficient – our sense of “all-oneness” alone.   Between the physical and subtle worlds, he doesn’t need much to eat.  Like Master R, he is fueled by oats, honey and fresh water.   I am sure he keeps hens too.   He keeps bees and makes strong cider from his fruit trees.   He is actually quite busy.  Profoundly Virgoan, he manages to grow and grind enough oats and wheat for his bread.  There is some for visitors.  He is busy! – he is a smallholder.   Yet he has the gift of the Magidim, to increase his present supply – the well never empties.   He handles in this Way, the physical environment, by touch.   I can learn everything from this, bringing it back to accompanying my loved ones.

He is maintained physically through his well fed students.   We give him manifestation.

(There is a high Law in Creation (Beriah), which in the lower astral worlds (Yetzirah), gets perverted to vampirism.   Vampirism is not just the Dracula tales of old. It rampages through relationships, the media and the commercial world in the collective subconscious, and generates imbalances.  Its fuel is ignorance and greed).

But the Law between student/disciple and the Inner-plane being, is the Law of love – a two-way current of regeneration.   As Ramesh Balsekar used to say, there is no Guru until the devotee discovers and makes him so.   Guru manifests in dialogue.  Guru takes shape and eternal fluid form, according to the desire for interior peace.   Guru is not a person.  Guru is a sanskrit word, meaning “dispeller of darkness.”

..

Magid

..

The interior contact established, is Antakharana or pipeline for the Maestri.   It is the conduit whereby an electron orbit of life, jumps to a higher one.  Through Daat – union on the Tree of Life – the quantum leaps.  Profound distress is often the prompt.   Out of the depth we cry to thee, and we leap.

When we find Guru, the dispeller of the dark, we pray together.  That means, there is an interior birdsong, the light of the Holy One … through the sap of each tree in the countless forest.   My Hermit’s eyes are amused; sometimes blue and sometimes brown.

“Find what you are gifted in, which no one else does, or is;  and develop that.”
Peace Mercutio!   and gratitude.

Swan of Brahma

..

Now I love the Hermit, who is Hermetic mercury.   He combines in his fragrant person, the Cube, the staff of Asclepius (one snake), the caduceus (two snakes) and all those quivers of the quick silver.   The highest region of alchemical mercury is the golden cube Tattva in the Sahasrara lotus “above my head”.   The nectar is collected in the third eye, which bows like a swan through Sushumna, to the heart.   My heart is a Sun with wings.   The staff materializes down through the lower chakras, and meets like a root, snake-entwined – the lovely Kundalini.   It is silent.

Sacred India Tarot Queen of Staves - Radha Ma Svaha

..

Kundalini awakening opens inexhaustible secrets of the Universe.  They burst up through my column in a fountain of “write”.   There is no end to the play of the Fountain – the j h v h pulse.    As I grow older, I discover the silence is all the secrets of the Universe, and nearer than my breath.   Access to them – the key – can be turned to love or to self-inflation:  to Life or to live-backwards which is evil.   Of themselves the Mysteries are neutral – they get converted to human feeling and to Old Issues, expediently.   There is no end to Nature’s cosmic abundance – the empress:  wisdom and folly.

..

The Empress, Arcanum 3

The Empress, Arcanum 3

..

The note in my mind just now is A-sharp – violet:  the meditation key.  Though my Hermit contact is so personal, I feel I can and should share him.   Why?  because the inner hermit is Archetypal – a type of home coming..

The lovely Kundalini is a Rod stuck into the ground:  she twirls like a distaff, spinning yarn. We are individually suited to perceive objective Teachers or subjective ones.   I am of the subjective type.  I develop my picture story, as an artist, a maker of windows.  However, their symbols and associations within my field, are an ancient Common land.  It is free for all who have the heart’s entry.  A fluid, shape-shifting firewall is not static.

Being a subjective type, means I co-create:  that my creations when mature, reside on the astral plane for other souls to access.  It gave me a lot of responsibility, to define over the decades, what it entails, and how to edit, and how to sieve the wheat from chaff.   There were and are deep wounds in life.   But the Process is a shining farm-labourer, carrying the sheaves for stacking, in scratched hands.

Wheatsheaf in the shape of letter GIMEL, with labourer in the field

Wheatsheaf in the shape of letter GIMEL, with labourer in the field

..

Sometimes my entire lifetime is joined together, all the impressions as  One.   Fancy admiring farm labourers when I was a child … because they showed me the essence of the Great Work which I would engage in – the Will.   Our soul knows infinitely beyond what we think we know, or are taught.   I have the same knowledge now, extending into the future.   What is it?

bota key 3 Empress - Version 2

What do I know about my Self?  and the farm labourers carrying wheat?   There need be no verbal answer yet, but how does it feel?

Harvest and fertility.  My drawing of the wheat-sheaves stacked together, forms a Gimel.   But Gimel is the potential harvest of the Priestess.   While the Empress is Venus, and pregnant among standing wheat, the Priestess is aligned with Mercury.   The Priestess of the Moon is aligned with Mercury because she keeps the shrine swept, and holds the memory.   The shrine, a cave in the earth, is Virgoan, and thus Mercurial.  Recall and respect the Shrine in my everyday doings.

..

What is my knowledge of the future?   Rather than speculate, which the surface-mercury does haphazardly and with fear, build and sweep the inner shrine each day:  creation – a conscious performance.

Where I am coming to now, is the job of the personal shrine.   This is the one which makes the contact.   Organised shrines administer the contact by committee to belief.

The personal shrine is a holy place.  By whatever means, it enters the wide world, beginning HERE.   In Halevi’s zodiac wheel, the 6h house (Virgo-ruled) is “Operation”.  Virgo as the shrine, and as the cosmic secretary, operates:  “le opere” are the works.   Transmission – as on military ships – is a morse-code operator.

..

My personal shrine suffers a continuing breakdown of shallow pride.   When we accept the job of Lighthouse Keeper, we accept this.   We live in a tower which shines at sea.  By hook or by crook, my dark tower of pride, my cracking seedcase, transforms to a tower of alchemy.

GALLERY – to view, click on any image and wait to upload

..

A tower of alchemy – (and make of it precisely what I can) – shines across the sea like the Hermit’s lamp, and the vessels out there can see it.  The Hermit stands on a mountain guiding souls up the path:  the Lighthouse keeper stands in the sea – Hermes walks in the sea, carrying a globe and Staff –  the same.   I shall get submerged again during the day, but I write this, as always, with the commitment to transmission, here and now.

A note on HARPIES – when passing between Scylla and Charybdis:

When I look at my harpies – the spiteful scolds –  they stop what they are saying.  If I look at them, they cannot speak or screech.   Give it time.  They look horrible and hot and carrion, and they might change colour.   Mine are black like crows, and after a while they turn greyish, they start to fade and get weak and meaningless.   Harpies do not thrive on being held in the air and looked at.  They thrive on swooping – just as I am dozing off – and pushing and stabbing and being heard and believed.

valorous strength Emblem 2

..

Dawn complaints drift slowly apart, like heavy clouds.  The nectar is a little stream on the hillside, as I touch up my recent Tarot reflection – a visual poem in itself, within Death and the Empress to each side.  I like the way the Priestess and the Hanged Man peep through the firm positions of the Chariot and the Emperor – I love the colour scheme.

I am depressed about the human monkey and all its unhealthy persuasion.   Deeply so – I have to wrestle with it all the time.  My small old fashioned sermons to myself are mocked by the disturbing glitter of DNA-meddlesome-technology.

Yet that genetic engineering stuff, the ‘playing god’, is itself ILLUSORY.  I see this now.   It is a trap – a religion even – capturing worshippers, consumers and fearful adherents.   When my Hermit helps me to awaken, I have perspective;   I see a scale of values.   I see the utter seductiveness of the monkey game, which has no understanding of the Great Game of cosmic balances.   The monkey game believes and fears, that we humans are all alone, spearheading the universe and bent on self destruct.   That primitive dark-ages concept prevails.   I feel something other, beyond and behind and inside the box.   Is this too, a daydream, a denial?    Who can say?

The one thing which is sure, is the Good.  The essential human values and friendship.  The right from wrong.   It has an utterly different flavour from anxiety-default-mode – or ambition – which crowds and occupies the race’s big brains.

Parallel worlds touch and mutually thrive.

The hanging man overturns the conventional occupation.  “Go on walking contrary to the way of the world.   Lift a stone and I am there”.   The hanging man upends the nightmare. With my Hermit in the cottage, is the moment smelling of bees;  eternity. Choose eternity!

In reply to dear Genie’s comment yesterday – I am Inside and outside the box!  Mouni Sadhu devised a contemplation exercise:  study the interior of an empty matchbox till it can be visualised precisely and perfectly :  then study the exterior likewise, every detail.  Then try to fit the two visualisations together, seamlessly.   This practice enables us to think and perceive four-dimensionally.

That is why I love the Cube of Space as a philosophical tool;  and why I struggle to build one in the way I do.   Inside and out.

I discovered while blogging yesterday, that I had sewn the Cube’s east and west squares THE WRONG WAY ROUND!!   I let the photo stand, to demonstrate my perils, mistakes and oversights, and re-cobbled the material in the evening.   It took hours to re-sew the two squares.   I DISLIKE SEWING and all its fuss and fiddle and my sore fingers and poor eyesight.

Anyway, here is the amended construction:

Here in principle is the Rosicrucean idea – a Rose Cross to meet in every heart of Life.  I love rediscovering this, although my arts & crafts attempt is somewhat scruffy.

I think my best posts are about my problems.  I cannot for obvious reasons draw these out in detail.   But we all share the difficulty of encountering Life, and my way isn’t more “erudite” than a musician’s with her instrument.   I use the Tree of Life and Tarot Keys as coloured lenses.  My problems are Tarot Keys of their own, permitting the essence or “template”  to appear.  It is satisfying to dwell on a circumstance – like painting a picture and gradually filling things in – until suddenly a little lever releases, and it springs into life:  a fully fledged Arcanum.

An Arcanum is an illumined collection of Mysteries.   An Arcanum is a teaching-point:  a paradox:  a living bird just air-borne.

I decided to follow up “But … there is Hope in the Well”  with  “Along the Lane”;  as I rode my bike onward into the map last week, after bumping into the light.   But materialising my Cube of space, comes in between!

To cut another long story short – I accompanied Jack to Burnt Oak mental hospital yesterday, for him to pick up some pills.  He flushes them down the loo, as they are poisonous: they cause diabetes and worse, and carry the Elf & Safety warning.  But psychiatry’s hoops and loops are navigated as prescribed.   The E U is slicing disability benefits again, while the House of Lords – so one hears – spends £100,000 on redecorating the lavatory.  I feel the fear and distress of disabled persons all over the land.  Briefly … Jack has to play the game objectively, and supply Caesar’s pence – an object exercise to respond not as an ego, but as a statistic:  it is the form.   Inside the form is a crippling anxiety.  Inside the building is a nightmare of contagious fear.   The patients pace up and down the cage, waiting to be administered their poisons and bangs on the head, and sent off home again. Drugs, fear, clinical dysfunction, human degradation and the cheery cleaners – I felt sick.

When in panic, when boxed in, do something practical to earth it.   We went back to his house and began to fill up the renewal form for disability parking – overdue, and by now gone toxic. The local authority’s labyrinthian call centre was clapped to poor Jack’s left ear – we ended up laughing.   The tension changed and settled.   Slowly I remember, again:  Befriend the situation – any in life – adapt, soften with it.  Be sly.   Smile.   Deep inside, the way through is known:  just do it, step by step.

I went home and spent the evening re-doing the Cube’s east and west.  I am like Johannes Kepler with his ‘dear and diligent readers‘ – each error in his planetary calculus is enthusiastically shared, as integral to eventual triumphs.

JA JK Synastry

My natal Seal of Solomon – lode-star –  is In the astrology synastry with him.  And look at the mutual lunar-nodes Grand Cross!  And the Uranus-Neptune, Jupiter-Uranus conjunctions …  and his Midheaven on my Ascendent.  In my present life, I studied astrology intensively under his tuition and inspiration:  his music of the spheres, is mine also.

Yet I can’t have been Kepler in a previous life, if I was romping around with Simon Forman in London at the same period (said to be).  I may have known Kepler selectively on the inner and subtle planes.  He was a Capricorn, and so was S.F.  We human beings are mind-stuff.  The solidified texture we move within, and have our being and our stress, is a temporary facet of the world.  We do move freely in and out of each others’ soul, according to affinity, once we attain the gift to realise it conscientiously.

Did we but know !  It is timeless.  It is unfettered by storybook sequential incarnations in space and time.  I may visit Kepler or Master R any moment, if I draw together the vessel to catch the dew, and concentrate.  AFFINITY happens.   The Great Work, and all spiritual endeavour, consists in learning to travel Consciously in the planes and levels.   That means, to quieten and harness my headstrong I-thought process.  And so, freed from the unconscious barrage of the Netzach Hod Yesod merrygoround … a gentle amusement self-defines.  Reality emerges from the mist into shining bas-relief:  clarity.  In Malkuth which is Earth and Tifareth which is Consciousness, Kether the Divine thread stands tall like a Sequoia pine:  the sky within.   Perhaps group ritual work and worship boils down to this.

The Buddha is said to remember all his myriad lives, because the personalized dream doesn’t stand in front, obscure or apparently separate any of them.   And so the Avatamsaka Sutra has countless towers of individual Infinity:  the trees in the forest, each unique, and each containing the boundless forest.   This is life!   This is the countless incarnations!    When I am lost in my mouse-scurry, I see none of it.

A friend who blows wonderful coloured glass, writes long posts almost every day – well, at least 3 times a week, like I did last year.   We of the Illumined – who are stained-glass windows – cannot stop writing, ever.   We let in the light;  It writes us.    I write every day a trans-formation, and blog a few little things from it, which I hope might be useful.  I begin in the morning stiff and foggy, and I feel the muscle warm up, open and loosen, as the interior sun comes out.   It is the same as going for an early run, or a ride.

The musical tone in my mind this morning – I checked on the pitch-pipe –  is INDIGO – A-natural:  Saturn.   Saturn’s tattva or sense of touch, is AKASHA – keeper of the cosmic records:  cosmic memory.

Now, here is the Avatamsaka Sutra.  It is in one of my bog’s earliest posts – no harm in repeating it.   It is an Invocation for Life:

..

“THE TOWER is as wide and spacious as the sky itself.

“The ground is paved with (innumerable) precious stones of all kinds, and there are within the Tower (innumerable) palaces, porches, windows, staircases, railings and passages, all of which are made of the seven kinds of precious gems …

“And within this Tower, spacious and exquisitely ornamented, there are also hundreds of thousands … (innumerable) of Towers, each one of which is as exquisitely ornamented as the Tower itself, and as spacious as the sky.

“And all these Towers, beyond calculation in number, stand not at all in one another’s way;  each preserves its individual existence in perfect harmony with all the rest;  there is nothing here which bars one Tower from being fused with all the others, individually and collectively;  there is a state of perfect intermingling, and yet of perfect orderliness.

“Sudhana, the young pilgrim, sees himself in all the Towers, as well as in each single Tower, where all is contained in One and each contains all.”

But … The Well gives Hope

sketch of Master R

..

My journal entries often begin unpromisingly, in a down in the dumps way … then a weather-change rises from the deep, as I write my path along the shadow.  Those testy bits of life and English fog are ALCHEMICAL as the box opens. A blank and dreary mood transforms to a philosophers’ Stone, a river.   A pig’s ear turns to silk.

In my next post, I shall tell you – another diary entry or “transformer” – how I rode into the map last week beyond my bike-bump (there are no accidents), and what I discovered there:  how strength as the river flows and the roots grow, is softness.  Then we shall return to the SITA suit of Lotuses – the Knight, Queen and King.

..

TODAY, Dear Magid, I am in a misery of life.   I am worried about my loved ones and their difficulties.  Scratchy panics break surface.  Indoors all summers day yesterday, struggling to make a box – a Cube of Space, which I had promised to someone – been battling with this delayed construction.   I was determined to make progress with it, though I nearly gave up.   But at last I have a cube, with coloured cloth glued & stitched over hardboard, and I think I can make it stand up firmly by sewing in little ties at the inside corners.   The Cube is a philosophical instrument or tool of stability.   Maybe it will gladden my life at present.   I can visualise it.   The six faces are each 12” square, it is a Latin cross, one side is white, the other side is in the Cube Tarot colours.   It cost me an arm and a leg in glues and materials and general exhaustion and dispiritedness and the telly.

..

Hey – I made a mistake ! (see below.)  Will re-do the east and west sides later.

..

And oh!   I missed playing in my blog – my alchemical crucible, and the feeling that I keep a contact going there – I was away from home for a few days, and then I was too busy.   I feel flat miserable about everything at present.   One of my famous DULL PATCHES.   My sad personal scenarios have a field day:  the heavy itch of sorrow and grief generally:   also the state of humanworld.   The prevailing dysfunction.

Dear Magid, I noticed a quality of my mind, my mental setup.   It charges into the problem like a cart-horse, at first sublimely confident, it forces the matter to  “solve”, it blunders and  tries to fix and limps and sags and gets it the wrong way round and gets worn out.    It is the same in conversation when my buttons are pushed.   The Goat goes into overdrive, and I get carried away.

It is one of the unattractive traits of Capricorn.   I go into emotional overdrive very easily, when with my parents or with anyone I am close to.   I promise myself not to, but it happens.   I babble about love and things, or I start advising or trying to fix.  The Galloping Goat leaves me depressed and muddy.   Magid, what do you think?

AND:  the need to be truthful.   Honesty is not easy.   Some persons whom I respect, tell comfortable lies about their past, which they believe in by now.   I would also, if my past wasn’t all diary’d in detail.   There is some personal lie telling in any account:   the white wash and fear of emotional exposure:  the local – loco ! – editor.

But my inner need is the unvarnished truth.   This is very difficult to reach, between persons.

..

..

My mother wrote letters during the war, which are a vivid and unconventional record of the times.  She thinks her letters are all white-washed, and to some extent they are;  and yet they bare her soul.   I keep and read hundreds of letters which my parents wrote to the Edes – all preserved.  With their youth and passion, they recorded the glories of English wild flowers, birdsong and the backbreaking labour of postwar farming.  My busy father’s more occasional letters develop his philosophy of human-ness, and his painful struggle to make it work in himself.   They have an illumined beauty and tenderness: that which he was erratic with in family life.  He was shell-shattered from the war.  Tears!  Oh – it gets so mangled! If one is a writer – of books, blogs or letters – the ESSENCE of the daily battle emerges like the wild flower from the tangled path … as I sense it does at our death:  the clarity of our entire life is telescoped into high-relief, and the Beauty shines.   Thus the authenticity of my mother’s letters, and my father’s, and what I do now.   I try to show all the shadow with the light – like they did, and still do, at ninety.

But the light makes the shadow disappear!   The more light you let in …  ah, this is the paradox.   As I grew up, I had a passion for the Shadow.   I lived along the edge.

The Stark Bar, Carlisle - 1964

The Stark Bar, Carlisle – 1964

..

My childhood was not always happy.  How could it have been?  I am the same now.  But it was rich in essence, landscape and opportunity.  The fertile stress between my mother and father in their years together, developed my artistic gift.   I contemplate and just catch the full flavour now, as it percolates:  something of their private conundrum to each other – a shared task, and their surviving companionship.  Hard times are as golden as the easier ones, as I grew up among persons who work the ground and love nature. There is a philosophical stone … the old sundial in our rose-garden at Broomlands.   My father chased me and my sister round it in a fury with a stick, when we were being very bad.

In relationships, we cannot hope to be brazenly honest with each other – look at the disasters my clumsy attempts got me into – but I try to be truthful with myself.   I can try to do this daily.   Occult language, and even astrology, seems less relevant as time goes on.   It is another mask to peel away, as it begins to convert to living openly.   But it is mighty helpful for colour enhancing, for seeing the bigger picture, and for the cosmic codes and keys which unveil the inner Great Work.

..

cube with chair & tarot tree

I can’t believe this.  I’ve sewn the east and west sides of the Cube of Space the wrong way round!   Red is Mars, and faces north.   Green is Venus, and faces east.  I put the violet square, which should face west.   Now the long labour to unglue, unstitch, and change them around.   Blast and dammit.   Isn’t that just typical !

The top face (yellow) is Mercury:  the bottom face (blue) is the Moon.  The south face is the Sun, and it is orange.   Indigo is Saturn in the Cube’s centre point, within.

..

The truth of the moment – whatever the miseries – is the sea in my face:   attending to the present flavour without comment:   the salt of the earth – the feeling.   It is a sorrow that I have to watch stupid telly during the day when trying to do or make something, just to push away the dreary stuff in my mind;   but you know – the present society and its inane distractions and cushion technology IS THE HARDSHIP ZONE.   We cannot repair the innards of our own cars and telephones – we are buffered away from that skillful contact with the way things work.

..

Cars new and old

..

Whatever period I lived in, had its stress and hardship zone.   The consumerist microchip   is a terrible place for the soul to be – and yet it manages, the soul integrates with the electronic junk, and converts it to an adequate medium, a ship to sail.    In other historical periods and in large parts of the world today, we have religious intolerance, female mutilation, grinding physical hardship, starvation, military conscription –  all in their ways, are just as bad.   In this period we have toxic-addictive entertainment, and the destructive uglification of the biosphere – a mass de-sensitization.   This is no different in essence, from the violent social mores of yesteryear.   They prevail in this form.   There was a time when NOBODY’s house and cattle was safe from civil wars and robber barons.  Nowadays, no one’s house is safe from invasive moron-technology – devices and fiendish frustration with carcinogenic call-centres.

But what about my truth?   What is it?   Thou who art behind my shoulder, what is my truth today, where should I go, what do you see?   This question cheers me a little, it reminds me that no matter what the day, and what to do, (Wigmore Hall with Southgate, then Clark’s astrology quiz) I have no idea what will happen or what will be, it is unknown and full of potential.   Life is up to me to taste:  taste it carefully now, and keep tasting.   Savour the flavour rather than the her-story.

Magid what do you see?   What are we up to?

dakini oracle reflection - 30 June

dakini oracle reflection – 30 June

A SECRET DAKINI ORACLE:  12 – Kali slaying the ego   To the left is 0 Joker, and to the right is 17 Island of Jewels.

I don’t like dakini 12.  There’s the black goddess all alone and fierce in the sky, chopping off heads.   I feel like a pruned bush – a slaughtered corner, after garden clearance.    Indeed the serene Hanging Man depends between two lopped trees in some tarots.   In the Builders of the Adytum, he hangs inside a TAV.   12 is when things turn over or reverse.  It flips the world-view;  it suggests the other swing of a pendulum.   Not a comfortable situation to begin with.   The challenge is to hang in it peacefully, finding pendulum’s rest ;   tread the sky:  be born here and now.  Birth is uncomfortable.   There’s black Kali up there, cutting the cord!

..

Being predisposed to inner work, is hard and distressing in life and in the nightmare widgets, weevils and idiocies which buzz around the well.   There is no avoiding these distressed and dreary moments.   Keep quiet, this too shall pass.   Judge not.   In distress, there are vicious little elementals which we only see in very bad dreams;  but we suffer their pressure and persuasions.   I am deeply sad that persons I am close to, do not have THE CONSOLATION.

Symbols of speech

The consolation is the Wisdom, which in due course comes to the fray, even when I cannot see it against the light.   The Wisdom is like the fourth incoming horse in Dakini Oracle 47, whose reflection only is glimpsed in the wet sand beach.

dakini oracle Horse Play

The hanging man is about this type of reflection.   The Island of Jewels is really the Star Woman who is naked, who pours and looks into the pool and watches truth.

Serpent coil

Perhaps 17 is the most nourishing of all the Tarot Keys.   It always invites peace, hope and depth.   I mentioned the well, didn’t I?   Well, she is the well, the pipeline from the stars, the root in earth, the Violet.   Look – the Cube of Space’s west side is violet, the east side is green – the leaves of the flower.   Healing remedy applied!   A certain remarkable gardener goes around making wines, candy and alchemical balms from the flowers  he harvests with tools made of bone, when the astrodynamic astrology is about to crest.   That is a towering skill I admire and cannot hope to emulate.

I am in touch now, with my well.   The spinal core, up and down:  the cuore or choir.   My morning’s work is always the same – to restore the choir, the inward touch which is Real, finding Reality – the Medicine – unconditionally.  The philosophers’ Stone is here for the polishing:  polish the mundane – the Beauty breathes inside.   It doesn’t push away the heavy cloud yet, but the Woman of the Well gives Hope.

Inner Journey, finding Botticelli

Link to Aquariel: When Reflecting on the Lovers

21 October 2012 – now we are in Scorpios …  I recollected this morning, that my daily Invocation combines Dion Fortune’s “master contact” gesture, with Halevi’s Tree:  “Let us gather together, draw together.

..

Hand Mudras or Gestures on the Tor - the Shepherd, those who sailed west to east, and theBuilders,

Three Hand Mudras or Gestures on Glastonbury Tor/Avalon – the Shepherd, Those who Sailed West to East, and theBuilders.

..

Saluting the Tree, I stretched, and when you stretch you hold up all your weight with ease.  And stretching is the capacity of the inner and the occult life, because stretching grows.  I am moved too.  Everything in nature stretches – plant growth and penile arousal.  To stretch upholds itself, and widens, and the key to “stretch” is desire.

Feeling physically heavy is perhaps due to the lightening of the body weight during moments of inspiration and lift-off.  One of Dion Fortune’s teachers lost two-thirds of his body weight while meditating – she could pick him up with ease.

The resumption of materiality is felt more, after an illumined inner journey or creative process.  That must be why some trance mediums – particularly those in the dark circle – get burly and coarse.  They pile on weight to offset the astral networking.

Tree of Life in Queen Scale colours (Sketch). These are the Beriatic colours for the Sefiroth – their vibration in the World of Creation:  Kether white, Hokhmah grey/silver, Binah black or indigo, Hesed blue, Gevurah red, Tifareth yellow/gold, Netzach green, Yesod violet, and Malkuth  combines citrine, olive, russet, slate.

..

Dion Fortune “in-vented” the Fountain Breath.  It was designed to assist the early twentieth century problem of purity – how to pass up through the sexual-energy reservoir without flooding the engine, and do good work with it.  Her generation’s natural sex drive was expressed in society, in stifled, cramped and addictive ways.  Due in part, to the work of this great teacher and others on the astral plane between the Wars, there is a small amount of liberation in our sexual mores.  We are able to be more honest with each other in our relationships:  gender timelines are not rigid:  parents share the active care of their young.  Of course, media attitudes and the Karmic heritage of centuries of subconscious abuse have not kept pace with this.

We have to look within our situation and take a great interest in it, to see what is true, and to manifest our Life force in an evolutionary way.

..

Fountain tree of Life

Fountain tree of Life –  Queen Scale colours, but the Sefiroth are turned around.  Normally we view the Tree facing the same direction with Adam Qadmon’s back to us, with the same left and right sides as ours.  Here the aspirant and the Tree are turned to face each other objectively.   They embrace.  As if in a mirror, the Tree’s Yang right pillar – Hokhmah Hesed Netzach –  is reflected in the aspirant’s Yin left side – Binah Gevurah Hod.   Some Kabbalists and occultists do practical work in this manner.

..

About ten years ago, I learned a fountain breath method, up through the “Tower of Alchemy”, the tree and the body of light.  So the tower is in my inner eye, right now,  by ventilation – it “vents” the Kundalini shakti, in a way which blesses the surrounding landscape with Her Light.  The tower is phallic, pumping up the dragon seed.

The Tree of Life/Tower of Alchemy as a flowering Staff, showing the Malkuth cavern with almond flower, Yesod with almond nut, Tifareth as the Rose Cross and Daat as pineal sight - the pine cone at the other end of the Yesod staff.

The Tree of Life/Tower of Alchemy as a flowering Staff (2002), showing the Malkuth cavern with almond flower, Yesod with almond nut, Tifareth as the Rose Cross and Daat as pineal sight – the pine cone at the other end of a Yesod “almond” staff.  Yesod is the personal consciousness;  Daat the transpersonal link, or Union.   Through the interlocked Four World-trees on Jacobs Ladder, Yesod and Daat overlap.   See other posts on Jacobs Ladder and Kabbalah.  NB – This painting and the inner journey with it, was inspired by David Goddard’s book THE TOWER OF ALCHEMY.

..

In the root cavern underground – Malkuth – is an almond flower.   Beneath the almond flower carved in rock, is a rough ashlar cube:  the altar of our life.  Through it pulses a fiery fountain, dark and light –  a circuit of perpetual cycles:  J H V H.   In the curved rock walls, are doors – entrances:   the Tarot Keys for the Judgement, the World and the Moon converge here.   There is also a portal to the planetary Kundalini where we are not supposed to go.  It seems to descend a stair, as in my dream of The Witch. (House of Hundreds of Rooms).  I went a little way down that stair, and heard the builders’ tools deep down within the basement or outside the House of all Souls.

GALLERY 1

These three Tarot Keys represent the three paths of the Tree which converge to Malkuth, the Earth.

The paths from Malkuth - SHIN, TAV, QOF

The paths from Malkuth – SHIN, TAV, QOF.  In Malkuth are shown the four elements.

..

At the door by which I entered – down the spine, ida pingala spiral stair – is an earthen jar in which is distilled and grows the Wine of Life.   The Wine of Merit is life.  It is also a signature of vitality.  So attention to it may help mine.

With regard to journeying – my third eye focuses, like a little button put here.   Third eye and the fountain breath are what is needed to travel accurately, and go places.

So I’m walking along the centre opening passage, it is of rock, a round curved tunnel, but illumined.  My plan from Malkuth is to visit Yesod, where the tunnel opens to a circular  “room”.   On the Beriatic Queen Scale, Yesod is coloured violet, a wonderful crystal living flower.   But first I am in the central tap root rising to Yesod;  it is the World dancer’s path coloured indigo :  TAV the Sign, GVPh the body as our living temple – and Gravity:  a rich indigo upwelling darkness.

Key 21, ruling this path, is called “the Administrative Intelligence“.   It contains and regulates the subliminal knowledge of our cellular and Karmic organization, and of the  Tree of Life as a whole.   Kether is planted deep in the ground!

..

Note a triad pattern –  three figures in the cards to each side of The World.  They form the letters L.V.X. – Light.

..

Perhaps when I overheat and the dark is red like brick, it may help to inwardly transform it to blue-violet indigo, to cool down and soften.   At once I feel the breeze, like the sea.

Do I meet anyone along here?   Some peoples’ meditations teem with inner plane beings and elementals, which I don’t “see”.   Perhaps I feel their companionship in the space.   I imagine the hoards of workers in the Ministry of Magic entrance hall under the streets, as in the Harry Potter books.

There is a press of workers and of city dwellers in the Passage of Administration, to and fro.   I don’t see them, because that is not the trick or birth/Ascendant type of my mind.   But I perceive that this path is a vast station of departures and arrivals – rather like Lime Street where I sat with the Yellow Man.   He was a classic appearance of the inner Teacher or guardian angel.  In that brief encounter in my dream, he nourished and informed my entire life … thank you !   “Ireland was his home.”   His impact would lead to leprechauns and Dancers of Pan in my language … see how I am led around to the World Dancer again – for she is truly a dancer of Pan.   The trail again is warmed, even heated, as kundalini rises through my ebbed physical strength.  Turn Her from redbrown to deep velvet indigo cool.  Contain her in the Night of cold waters, silver Isis reflecting stars.

The heat passed, as I realise I have a trained and focused mind in fact;  for I do not wander off into irrelevant spooks and glamours.   The abstract living essences are what I love and dwell among.  Always they return me to the visual Rhyme:  the  play of the Archetypes.  Watch and feel; relax;  be greeted.   Greetings, my Holy ones.   They dance slowly round the Muse like Botticelli’s angels.   Primavera.   I stop here this morning, with Her.

She, so much gazed upon by millions of art lovers down the centuries since he painted her, is fully fledged, a living Goddess:  the Archetypal Mother of All.   Botticelli.

The violet crystal flowers, all around.   We are inside a little spring violet, and in it there is a stone font with a fountain almond mist:  a shining in the air.   Now Yesod is where I meet my mental-plane Lover, and here I am with Botticelli.  Here we are by the dark maternal enigma of giant Isis.  So do what is natural.   Get into the font, and twine my arms and legs around him Yab Yum and start to breathe together the Y H V H around.   We fuse the painterly craft, the renaissance genius, the beauty and purity of the Line.   Be still and know I am God.   Botticelli got scooped by Savonarola, but I won’t.   Ever.

Sandro Botticelli, I am free from persecution, so now I am your Primavera and your Aphrodite.   You are ebony lingum in my curvy clouds.   A small fiery triangle glows with orange light and flame.   We are an Indigo oval stone with scarlet triangle :  Akasha tejas, the inner Key to Gold:  refinement of the Saturn and Mars centres, and their blend.   Isn’t it remarkable how we changed roles,  the gender free exchange, when conducted in Beriah.

Akasha Tejas tattva

Akasha Tejas tattva

..

The essence of the akasha tejas nuptial is the pure white brilliance.

Be still, be still and know I am God.   Kether is the deep of things.   Kether is everywhere and all pervading, even the enormous floating masses of forgetting.   I don’t “see” my lover:  I find the sparkling point, the inward lead.

It is a subconscious induction or programming.  The inward spark is fresh as a field of hay.   It finds and pleasures every crevice.   Delta of Venus!    Now I am this bud. The green-red drawing is part of a series I drew in 1988, just before I began to study Kabbalah – the story of a Fool and the Lamb he liberated.  The Tree spirit in the cell has “black” tributaries like roots or branches and little space pads between them, like foetal fingers.  Encircling it concentrically under the epidermis are the notes – F,D,C,A,F – of the Fool’s Chord which he played on his flute.   In it is a diamond, the drop of dew on the Rose.

Tree spirit

It is the bliss before bothering about sexual arousal.   Before sexual arousal – for I  picture the ebony linga teasing and fondling the dew – there is a moment 99.9% ignored, of peace and plenty, stillness and the unknown.   Perhaps this is what Ida Craddock was teaching.   The ruach is unhurried, deep, gentle and cool.

I suffer from insomina, even when my mind is quiet.  To go to sleep at night means:  to the right department.   Sleep in the body is given when I am free to lay her aside and travel to the right place in the subtle Kingdom of the world.

Somewhere along the line, this facility got tangled up.   It works fine when I am writing in the morning, but not when I need to sleep at night.   Sleep isn’t only for rest.  Sleep for someone like me, is a medium within which to do good work.   Not “good works”! – good interior work.  In ancient Egypt, the deep sleep of initiates releases their Ba or Ka or Light-body.

Impression that when I am properly asleep and not hooked up to anything, my “Egyptian” consciousness awakes and can travel to wherever some assistance is needed – perhaps to cross the river.   I have rather a clear picture now of the Egyptian, and how she works with Thoth and Horus.  It is a feeling, rather than a picture.  The Egyptian or Atlantean consciousness resides in Beriah.   She pervades everything and all the centuries on Earth creatively, a perfume.

Black hair, brown skin, white something.   I am sure she is the sunburnt black haired Older Sister princess who comes to sit among the flowers and skipping children in my Cornish garden, age six.  Her long head and buck teeth.   My new teeth of course, were growing.

An unconditional happiness plays near the Cornish Pyramids of white china clay in the 1950s.

In those Egypt days, our gardens were written in formal hieroglyphs, for the student to en-picture and cultivate and make his or her own.  Jonquils, jewels, wildflowers:  the letters for speech and learning to read.

I have a taste of that wonderful elder society now, its salt sand perfume, and its cool clear vision, long before it got muddied by the priests of power.

In subsequent lifetimes, I became one of these muddy priests also:  for everything we en-picture with the trained psyche, we some day embody.  It is Nature’s requirement to be fully expressed.

..

The trained psyche comes into flower and operation only at a certain level of the focus.   That is her field of protection.  She is sealed from the clutter and persuasions that float around and bombard the everyday life.   I have an agreement with her:  the faculty only works when consciously in the World of Beriah with her.

I seem to have slept enough last night, to liberate this depth.

Here is a sketch of Elisabeth Tomalin – I just thought of her….  and of her grandson Tom Hetherwick.  I found and cut out that photo of him in the paper.  I was struck by an essence of his Granny – her lineage – I see her eyes through his, and smile.   She was by nature a guardian and Guide of Souls.  She was the only person in the world who knew and kept the secret of the Olympic Cauldron – Tom’s Torch of Time.  He shared it with her, while she waited in her bed to die, last spring.  She was 99.   It was an intense frustration to her when she couldn’t dream, and remained locked in life’s tiny, distressed and despised body.  I am sure she is now at large, bigtime.   While tidying up my emails I found the eulogies they read at her funeral.  All of them agree with love, what a hard trial their Grandmother was.

Meanwhile the diamond grew bright, like rose quartz.  It is linked to the Rose in the dark, in the inner rose cross sanctuary.

Keeping the whole pattern clear for next time, withdraw back to Malkuth, the almond flower in the cave’s ceiling and … how did I enter that?  Ah – it was the talk of Dion Fortune and the Fountain breath, and how it irrigates the surrounding countryside.

The dragon rises and falls peacefully, after all my practice back in 2002.  The dragon has a core of fiery whiteness, little puffs of the Brilliance.   The universe is composed of Brilliance;  why else do the stars shine?

I can visit where I like in the Tower, in a trice.   Strange how seldom I come here!

This morning/during the night, I started to form a talisman:  Calm, Confidence, Competence.  Say those words as often as I can.   A picture came with them – a big dew drop, with a tiny one the other way round, inside.  It is like the Soul Tetrahedrons.   But now I understand what it really means – it is the akasha in the tejas, scarletindigo, the Aries in Capricorn.   A little oval Stone of the Wise, in various expressions of density, is realised.

So keep a hold of it at base.  When cradling a lover’s fine warm shape, remember this.   For all things, to store my energy and help me to sleep at night, say Confidence, Calm, Competence and see the dew inside the dew.   It is a Mantrayantra.  She’ll get the message soon.

The Chakras with the Tarot Keys

..

41 - Sri Chakra & Vitruvian

This post, concluding my Chakra journey, partners Vishnu, the Covenant and Exodus in my other blog, Aquariel.

(Hence, my new drawing of Vishnu in this one also.)

The Builders of the Adytum Tarot cards are supplied as line drawings, uncoloured.  We  colour them in “by the book”, to take them into our own energy field, as co-creators.  The colour relationships speak louder than words.  In this set of windows into the inner plane,  each colour has its musical tone, Hebrew letter, number and vibration.  Very long ago, when the teaching of the Ageless Wisdom was endangered, it was put into coded picture form, to protect it from abuse and persecution.  Additionally, the subconscious responds to images rather than words:  the pictures as living archetypes were circulated underground, and survived.  In the Middle Ages they surfaced as a deck of playing cards.  In the 19th century, Eliphas Levi and others revived a Kabbalistic Tarot, and re-discovered the key to the Greater Mysteries.

Eliphas Levi (1989)

Eliphas Levi (1989)

Eliphas Levi referred to the Tarot as a divine algebra, and wrote, “A prisoner devoid of books, had he only a Tarot of which he knew how to make use, could in a few years acquire a universal science, and converse with an unequalled doctrine and inexhaustible eloquence.  The oracles of the Tarot give answers as exact as mathematics, and measured as the harmonies of nature.  By the aid of these signs and their infinite combinations, it is possible to arrive at the natural and mathematical revelation of all secrets of nature.

The 22 Tarot Keys are a full Alchemical process, a western Yoga method.  Not only does each one have its special path on the Tree of Life:  pictorially they illustrate the Chakras for westerners.  This illustration shows the sequence from left to right – the root chakra being The World, the sacral chakra The Tower, and so on.

Each Chakra has its specific planetary vibration.  Of the 22 Tarot Keys/Hebrew letters, 1,2,3,10,16,19 and 21 are traditionally assigned to the alchemical properties of the planets.   If we want to practice the instrument more deeply, this colour scale is equally related to musical tones and frequencies.   Therefore, when we look at those colours in sequence, or study the Tarot Keys together, their picture language messages those centres in our subconscious.

The Indian Yoga system energizes the subtle/physical centres more subjectively.   This science of the nadis is ideal for a culture where a meditative life style apart from life’s muddle is – or has been – supported.

The Western Alchemy system disapproves of this, because it can overload and imbalance the physical
organs and endocrines.

Third eye Chakra, Key 2 The Priestess - Moon

Third eye Chakra, Key 2 The Priestess – Moon

Our system is based on the mutual information of self
conscious and subconscious.  It therefore views the chakras objectively, as pictures to observe and meditate on.

The Indian emphasis is on purification and immediate deliverance from caste restrictions.  The Western emphasis is on acceptance of life’s rough and tumble, and that things take time to ripen.

So with the Builders of the Adytum, we lay out the Tarot Keys for the seven chakras, and contemplate them one by one, and in relationship.  Each one is designed to “message” or illumine its assigned centre.   There is an elder wisdom of subtle anatomy in this.

My rainbow spectrum for instance (discussed in the last 4 posts), is a view of the chakra principle all in one – the white light fountains up through the colours of the rainbow, as Ruach;  as Kether:  the cleft of the seed.   To go into more detail, we need to adopt a system which suits us.   It doesn’t matter which one, for their destiny is the same.   The Indian system for instance, is very elaborate, with gods, colours and Sanskrit intonations for each one, and I have not studied it.

I think the inclusion of gods and prayers helps to protect and guard the physical centre so transposed and energised.   It does not do to gloss over any esoteric system superficially.   Nobody can play certain kinds of music till they have practiced the notes, the keys, the scales and arpeggios.   Those musicians who are natural and brilliant improvisers, inherit the fruit of previous lifetimes’ practice! – built into the cellular and subtle memory.

So called spirituality is a detailed map of anatomy, physiology and psychology rolled into one.  Coming to us from the ageless wisdom, it not only instructs:  it creatively inspires, and kindles the secret of health, vigour and love.

The proper description of a Chakra is “vibration”.   Without the primal vibratory wave or concentricity, no organ, no physical function can come into being, or operate, or be coherent with the rest.   When we are awake to our chakral centres, we move a little upstream, into their potency.   We reflect on the potency rather than on the visible area or physique.

This is a homeopathic practice.   We move upstream from the molecules to the atoms.   (The atoms clump together in numerical patterns to form binaries and thus the molecular lattice.)

As mind and body are interwoven through the organic capillary of Daat, the Tarot Keys as archetypal pictures of each centre, bring clarity to the way we think and live.

The Tarot Keys are codes.  They are cylinder locks, whose numbers open the inner room.

It is a waste of time and energy to try to resolve the different Chakra systems and “prove” their different colour notations together.  It is best to work with whichever one you respond to best, and to respect the way other systems – according to culture – teach the Word, with a different spelling.

“Churning”

He displaced his passionate mind.
His quest into the nadis churned
from nadir’s night, the nectar; then turned
to embrace undying spark, refined.

Reversing dark to light, the dross to burn,
he suffered his painful insistence.
In Self, the Self is all existence
consuming resistance:  in Atma born.

Within and without, the same lamp shines.
He saw as One the world,
so broke the nexus, knot of nadis furled.

In my dwelling, light enshrines
my bond of body, Self empearled:
the churning is the Sun itself, pure gold.

Notes from a Group Discussion, 21 April 2013

In Key 14 Temperance or Probation,  the Archangel appears like a white Fountain, shining through the rainbow spectrum and the worlds.

Key 7 the Chariot, is a stepped-down voltage of Key 1 the Magician:  to form an enclosure or vessel for the seed of light.

bota key 7 The Chariot

bota key 14 Temperance

..

NOTES ON KEY 14:  Why are the sky, crown and seven point star coloured gold?   To prove the Work of the Sun.  Yellow, and thus also gold, are the Eagle’s beak (speech) and feet (walkers of the Path) and the lion’s eyes (sight). Eagle and Lion are otherwise earth-brown, the mixture of the primary colours as solid clod.   Gold gleams through life’s clouds, like it does through Earth’s mineral veins.  Gold within our bodies and within the planet, is “petrified sunlight”.

The path just visible behind the lion, is also gold.   In the distance, this golden path reaches the twin peaks Binah and Hokhmah.  Above and between them shines the Crown of the Sun – Kether on the Tree.

Clearly, we can study each Tarot Key from Malkuth subjectively, as a map of the Tree looking upward into the living Sefiroth.

The Archangel who pours the fire which flows and the water which burns, is clad in shining white. Over him is a rainbow corona.  The whiteness fountains up through the apparent rainbow spectrum.  The Archangel’s wings are designated red, but I have coloured this redness to contain the shine of the rainbow itself, through it.   Light plays and dances this way, everywhere.

The seven point Star on the Archangel’s breast cannot be exactly measured by our earthly geometry.  7 does not divide exactly into 360 degrees.  Each angle of arc from centre to two points of the star, is just over 51 degrees.   This is the same angle of inclination in the Great Pyramid.  The correct figure can be found by tying knots in a druid’s string.

(9) Seven Branch Star

..

In other words, the attempts to measure things exactly by our geometry, do not adequately reflect the Cosmic pattern.  If we force the issue, the result is discordant.   If piano keys are tuned logically, each at an exact interval from its neighbours, the result is discord – it clangs.   A piano tuner works concentrically from centre or middle C, adjusting the relationships of octaves, intervals and chords till they “chime”.   Each key has three strings:  the adjustment of the resonance, to ring.   Every occult and esoteric system through our history is based on the triad – the primary circuit of electric power.

The tetrahedron is a circuitry – with its new cycle emerging from the “produced” fourth point, whichever way it turns.

Tuning a part in relation to all its surroundings is a way of Mandala – the way a keyboard tuner checks the chords around and fore and aft, to harmonise.   Such are our individual lives in relation to all the other parts being played.  It is the Sri Chakra web, constantly being tuned.

40 deer Sri Yantra

How do we tread the path?   Start walking into Nature’s mirror!   What is the Great Work?  We keep plodding.  Our subconscious and selfconscious learn to converse, rather than to collide.

..

Yehudi Menuhin was born with an old Talent or passion.   As a child, he played without practice, and could perform anything.  It was all embedded in his cellular subconscious.  As a teenager, he became self-conscious and the faculty disintegrated.   He became a notoriously unreliable musician, because his tutelary subconscious was not yet working consciously.  The levels were in disharmony.  He played wrong notes, he fell out of rhythm, he was Out of Tune!   So he had to re-tune.  Yehudi’s autobiography about his re-tooling process, is very moving.   Falling off the adult pedestal of Prodigy, he had to learn like a child, the scales, fingering and arpeggios.  Gradually, the fully in-formed musician emerged.  Kabbalistically, we have to balance the right and left pillars in our Ground.

This calamity and the dark valley it took him through, led him to study Yoga and be a messenger for Iyengar in the west.   Similarly – like Barenboim – Yehudi became an ambassador for Israeli cultural consciousness, and the healing of the holocaust.   He took world citizenship;  he spoke out about ecology;  he expanded his musical horizon to India and to jazz;  he experimented and played his fiddle with Ravi Shankar and with Grapelli – not very well, some think:  how could he keep up with these Masters?  His enthusiasm was contagious.

Galactic Core and 2012

Key 14 – the Arcanum of Probation, the testing of the spirit – is assigned to Sagittarius.  Viewed from Earth, the Sagittarian constellation is superimposed on Galactic centre.   Sagittarius is called Mula in Indian astrology.   “Mula” means the root, and Muladhara (root hari …) is the name of the base chakra in the Indian system.

“Mula” is likewise darkness and death, according to our projection – the unseen black hole of an Unimaginable Light behind billions and billions of stars and years of light.   Great sages perceive, in the core of our galaxy, the root of the multitude whirlings (gilgalem),  a Sun so vast our physical eyes cannot see it.   The American seer, Robert Adams spoke often of it.

robert sketch empty

Now, at the end of the Mayan calendar, 21 December 2012, our Sun transitted this degree of Mula forming an exact alignment with it.   At all other times – as the galaxy is not a disk but three-dimensional and moving as a spiral – this transit rocked above or below the point.

This time, on that day, there was a kind of eclipse, rather like in our microcosmic scale, the biannual alignment of earth, sun and moon.

We all were aware subconsciously, of the gathering moment of the dark crossing, and each culture projected its own tensions upon it:  there was a concerted belief, deeper than usual -(due to the transit and to long projections onto the telescoping of time) – in the Worlds’ End.

This tension had built up over several decades, and is now released in the way tidal waves travel through the cosmos as unseen ripples.   Only with many decades’ hindsight will we be able to discern the effect.   We are still inside its “eye”.   We are affirmed to drop some of our bundles which bind, and look through a window to a simpler way of life.   It is as if what bothered us so much before, gets unknotted and drops away.   What we seem to agree on, is a new and multi-dimensioned perception of Time.  Time is not a line, but a sphere – a flower of spheres.

..

The shift is timeless, but in our terms it doesn’t happen overnight.   More likely, we enter a process of facing each of our restrictions and working through them: conflict resolution.

On the whole, and in planetary fashion, there is a reduction of general tension, a slowing of the breath.  We passed through the centre of the hourglass.

..

Netzach Hod Temperance

Netzach Hod Temperance

Key 14, Temperance, illustrates the fact that “the Sun, the Crown is coming to find you.”: “equilibrium is the royal road to gnosis”.  To the left is the cool current (water on lion) – inhale;  to the right, the warm current (fire on eagle) – exhale.

The teaching advises:  if we want to achieve something, try focusing on its complementary or polar opposite, to allow it to grow.  Our wishes often overload and incapacitate the desired object.   Cushion the billiard shot!   Most esoteric methods are cunning billiard shots.   The cue hits the ball into the pocket by bouncing another one to it, from off the edge.

The Great Work is:

the way of an Eagle in the air,
the way of a Serpent on a rock,
the way of a Ship on the sea,
the way of a Man with a maid.

As all the medieval Alchemists agreed:  when our eyes are open to the Inner Gold, or work of the Sun – unbrokenly aligned to the whole galaxy –  we shall never more know poverty of means or spirit.

This fact, engendering awe, love, freedom and reverence – the sacred Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh –  is Brahman, the Tathagata, the Buddha Nature, Yeshua, the Arc of the Covenant.

As the Age of Aquarius matures, the Arc is delivered from priesthoods, into our hearts’ response-ability;  into these feet which do walk the Road, into these hands which touch, this heart which speaks openly.   Thus, there are more born on Earth at present, than ever before;  containing by homeopathic proportion, a larger number of the Awakened incarnates.

We who awake traverse a valley of great shadow where the Sun is rising over the mountains.  We sow glow-worms in the abyss …  seeds of gold.

The Chakras Part 3: A Star in the Field

Concluding – for the moment – my mini-series on the Chakras.

..

The Star in the Field

“The body … is called the field;
Him who knows it, the sages call “knower of the field”.
Know me also as the Knower of the field in all the fields.”

Bhagavad Gita, transl. Ramana Maharshi

This morning I had a brief dream-flash of Vishnu.  It said perhaps “Vishnu and the Tree of Knowledge” … meaning also, Vishnu and the wise Serpent.  I saw Brahma Creator being dreamed out of Vishnu’s naval CHAKRA.

Sacred India Tarot - Vishnu dreams Brahma

Sacred India Tarot – Vishnu dreams Brahma … Copyright 2011 Yogi Impressions Books

..

The dreaming Vishnu lies on a serpent – his full length contact with the planetary Kundalini.  The serpent has five “waves” and five cobra heads, which like five fingers form a canopy over the god’s head.

Now, Vishnu is the presiding deity around Badrinath – (see The Chakras part 2: the Mountains) –  where they honour and release the ancestors.  Vishnu is also the eternal prototype of Krishna and of Buddha and of Maitreya – for Whom J.Krishnamurti was trained to be the vehicle.  Reflect on the burning sensation which JK – since his youth – endured in his head and spinal nerves, and called “the process“!   It is a classic example of the cosmic and the planetary kundalini in the physical body, as they “rub”.

..

In his own words:

“In the car on the way to Ojai, again it began, the pressure and the feeling of immense vastness.  One was not experiencing this vastness;  it was simply there;  there was no centre from which, or in which, the experience was taking place.  Everything, the cars, the people, the bill-boards, were startlingly clear, and colour was painfully intense.  For over an hour it went on, and the head was very bad, the pain right through the head.

“The brain can and must develop;  its development will always be from a cause, from a reaction, from violence to non-violence, and so on.  The brain has developed from the primitive state, and however refined, intelligent, technical, it will be within the confines of space-time.

“Anonymity is humility;  it does not lie in the change of name, cloth, or with the identification with that which may be anonymous – an idea, a heroic act, country and so on.  Anonymity is an act of the brain, the conscious anonymity;  there’s an anonymity which comes with the awareness of the complete.  The complete is never within the field of the brain or idea.

Krishnamurti at Rishi Valley

“… Woke up at about two and there was a peculiar pressure and the pain was more acute, more in the centre of the head.  It lasted over an hour, and one woke up several times with the intensity of the pressure.  Each time there was great expanding ecstasy ; this joy continued….  – Again, sitting in the dentist’s chair waiting, suddenly the pressure began.  The brain became very quiet;  quivering, fully alive;  every sense was alert; the eyes were seeing the bee in the window, the spider, the birds and the violet mountains in the distance.  They were seeing, but the brain was not recording them.  One could feel the quivering brain, something tremendously alive, vibrant, and so not merely recording.  The pressure and the pain were great and the body must have gone off into a doze.

“The strength and the beauty of a tender leaf is its vulnerability to destruction.  Like a blade of grass that comes up through the pavement, it has the power that can withstand causal death.

Krishnamurti at Gstaad

Krishnamurti at Gstaad

“Woke up in the middle of the night, and found the body perfectly still, stretched out on its back motionless … The pressure and the pain were there.  The brain and the mind were intensely still.  There was no division between them.  There was a strange quiet intensity, like two great dynamos working at great speed;  there was a peculiar tension in which there was no strain.  There was a sense of vastness about the whole thing, and a power without direction and cause, and so no brutality and ruthlessness.  And it continued during the morning.

“The ambitious do not know beauty.  The feeling of essence is beauty … Woke up in the middle of the night, shouting and groaning …

Orbits - a sense, in 1988, of planes of consciousness touching each other, perhaps extra-terrestrially

Orbits – a sense, in 1988, of planes of consciousness touching each other, perhaps from outside our dimension.  Convex could be a concavity, and vice versa.   The ELOHIM came very close to earth, and still are.  Their Presence throws everything into high-relief.

..

“… That which is sacred has no attributes.  A stone in a temple, an image in a church, is not sacred.  Man calls them sacred, something holy to be worshipped out of complicated urges, fears and longings.  This “sacredness” is still within the field of thought;  it is built up by thought, and in thought there’s nothing new or holy.

“…But there’s a sacredness, untouched by any symbol or word.  It is not communicable.  It is a fact … It is not possible to be one with a swiftly flowing river.  You can never be one with that which has no form, no measure, no quality.  It is:  that is all.  How deeply mature and tender everything has become, and strangely all life is in it;  like a new leaf, utterly defenceless.”

“This sacredness has no worshipper, the observer who meditates on it.  It’s not in the market to be bought or sold.  Like beauty it cannot be seen through its opposite, for it has no opposite.

“That presence is here, filling the room, spilling over the hills, beyond the waters, covering the earth … Yesterday afternoon it was pretty bad, almost unbearable.  It went on for several hours … Early this morning, there was a benediction that seemed to cover the earth and fill the room.  With it comes an all consuming quietness, a stillness that seems to have within it, all movement.

Orbits (2) - sketch in 1988, of a wooden sculpture I made at art college in 1968

Orbits (2) – sketch in 1988, of a wooden sculpture I made at art college in 1968.  Lower left corner I can just see two figures – an old philosopher (with right hand outstretched) and his bowed companion.

..

“The process was particularly intense yesterday afternoon.  In the car waiting, one was almost oblivious of what was going on around one.  The intensity increased and it was almost unbearable, so that one was forced to lie down.  Fortunately there was someone in the room.  The room became full with that benediction … It was the centre of all creation;  it was a purifying seriousness that cleansed the brain of every thought and feeling;  its seriousness was as lightning which destroys and burns up;  the profundity of it was not measurable, it was there immovable, impenetrable, a solidity that was as light as the heavens.  It was in the eyes, in the breath.  It was in the eyes, and the eyes could see.

“… Through the back of the head, rushing forward as an arrow with that peculiar sound as it flies through the air, was a force, a movement that came from nowhere, and was going nowhere.  And there was a sense of vast stability and a ‘dignity’ that could not be approached.  And an austerity that no thought could formulate, but with it a purity of infinite gentleness.  All these are merely words and so they can never represent the real;  the symbol is never the real and the symbol is without value.   All the morning the process was on, and a cup that had no height and no depth seemed to be full to the overflowing.

“… like a knife thrust into a soft earth, there was that benediction with its power and strength.  It came as does lightning, and was gone as quickly …  a stream rushing out of the rocks, out of the earth … an aspen tree and its leaves are trembling in the breeze, and without that dance life is not.

K on the sands

..

I have quoted this at much greater length than intended, because as I skim the pages, I pick up the Presence of Vishnu, and of Siva.   These are names for the nose on my face – the vast empty, the zip of fire and water in the thunder cloud, the … Chakra.

Here is Vishnu, Sustainer of the Dharma or Laws of Creation.  Note the Kundalini up his back, and cobra hood!   Vishnu is … obviously …  the Lord of the Chakras.

K is a surprise entrance here – I have not posted about him for six months or more.   He arrived through the Vishnu archetype, because he was trained since boyhood to be Buddha Maitreya’s vehicle, in that lineage.  The current of the Un-named god in his spine and head, expresses the Chakra.

Sacred India Tarot 8 of Arrows

Here, in the Mahabharat, King Bhishma surrenders to Krishna, who carries/spins an enormous blue cosmic Chakra:  the Vishnu lineage or galaxy.  (In the finished card I drew a palm tree and three stars in Bhishma’s blank shield.)   This is, as Rohit Arya says, an “end of Karma” card – an 8 of the suit.

J.Krishnamurti was groomed by the theosophists as a vehicle for Maitreya who was of that lineage – Buddha, Krishna, the blue ones.   He cut it away, but it stayed inside his nervous system and nadis.  He spoke often as the medium, and did not remember afterwards what “the Speaker” had said.  The intensity with which he lived, enquired and spoke, did not leave ‘a recording’ in his conscious memory, because it was ongoing, moment to moment.

This has a Rahu resonance – J.K. yet conveyed the flavour of the gods, as profound psychological verities in his teaching.  Rejecting Vedanta – cutting away the conditioned images – cutting the fence – he offered the utmost Transparency which is Brahman.  Not many could follow him there, without the pilgrim’s prop and staff he cast away.  It is ironic that his name translates to “Image of Krishna” – the murti, or sacred object.   For him, the sacred has no object.  Any object stands in the way of the sacred.   K invited us passionately, to live unobstructedly.  But the eternal Snows are in his words, and their teeming archetypes.

Masters of their Interior Stars – by Paul Foster Case

Paul Foster Case 2008

“(An adept’s) different organism gives him another kind of vision.  His unfoldment has made him able to deal successfully with situations and events which baffle the understanding of ordinary men and women.  He is skillful where most persons are inept.  Yet there is plenty for him to do, and plenty to learn.

“He knows how to set about solving his problems, and has behind him a record of successes which gives him confidence.  He approaches his problems with joy.  His work is not labour, but in the truest and best sense of the word, recreation.

“He belongs to that small minority described as BAALI HA-ShMIM, masters of the heavens.  They must not be confused with ordinary exoteric astrologers.  For besides knowing and interpreting the influences of external celestial forces, they have become masters of their interior Stars.  This mastery is one consequence of the meditation symbolized in Tarot by Key 17.”

17 star - Version 3

(NB –  Key 17 The Star, contains the arcana of Chakra study.)

“The nature of the experience of such persons … is truly UNSPEAKABLE.  Yet in this, it doesn’t differ from your own experience.  One of the most valuable results of silent meditation is that it makes us realise that we live our whole existence at a level of activity which cannot be put into words.  All that we say about our experience consists of arbitrary verbal symbols, representing our mental abstractions from an inexpressible field of living experience – that is, all we say which makes sense.

“We are unhappily, able to speak and write strings of perfectly meaningless verbal symbols.  We hypnotise ourselves and others with these noises, and entangle ourselves in nets of misunderstanding.  Quarrels between persons and nations are more often due to this misuse of language, than to any real clash of human interests … “

Paul Foster Case

My problem precisely.  I am writing about Chakras, but I am not a Yogi.  I try to tackle relationships but get bogged down in things we said to each other.

However, here I enjoyed a moment of direct, non verbal experience:  (29 March 1991) – and it stays for ever true.  One of my paths to peace is through contemplating the beauty and balance of simple numbers.  It focuses and opens the point within:

“They must become not intellectual but living concepts.  The livingness unfolds the mystery of FIVE, the number of Life.  Here is an exercise of space:  The All-Space, cosmic without end or beginning, which is awareness, expands beyond the body-form because … why?   I dive into the creation of interior space, like a pioneer.

“Couldn’t every thought arising during a concentration, which tries to sleep me and pull its important woolly habit over my eyes, be pressed into service?   The movement may be used, undressed, as a key to penetrate that inner and infinite Circle whose centre everywhere is not circumscribed.

“Strangely, into the sphere go straight lines of attention to …  I wake;  are those obscuring motorways a joy to be and to hold?

“No!  Then to question them, unwordedly, is the creation of an un-thought inward, which yet is boundlessly alive outward, through objects, feelings, galaxies, everything.

“Tsim tsum …  the pregnant void.

4 compass directions plus up, down, all radiate simultaneously outward with the inward enquiry which is their Sun.   A Star.

Imagine not a mere six directions, but the numberless points of the sphere, inward as outward:   the vibrant soft stillness of Who? is everywhere.   Hu  …  a Hebrew name of God.

Test it always – see how it feels, and hear the in-formation which is real to me, how does it look?  Look inward, feel its space and dimension, direct sight to the centre of knowing which has no end.   To the Answering Service!

11 vesicae hook, mandorla

It develops from this mantra …  which I held inwardly, a week or so ago;  it hummed.

This is how it looks and feels.  It is called a mandorla.   It was a multiple mandorla – three or five “circle” curves or planes met :  the focus of encounter, an encounter of planes, an interior gyroscope in my solar plexus spine:  a setting.

It feels like a HOOK.  It is a hook – one which joins, or one which catches fish.  It pierces the soft interior of my spinal stem, steadfastly.   It is a hook, a fountain and a snake;  it is everlasting.

When annoyed with anyone or anything (which is frequent), try practising my inner pioneer of space.   Use the same energy-particles of the annoyance, to collapse the thought-form into radiance.

Huh!   Tall order!   It’s funny how my mind LIKES to be annoyed, agitated and blind, in dreams and so forth – like that poor cat in Barclays Bank I once dreamt about, whose owner dragged her about and didn’t let her sit, so she wouldn’t get into mischief.   I said to the cat’s owner – I think – that I thought the cat might behave much better if she was kind to it and gave it some peace and quiet.

12 Zain letter

ZAIN is the Seventh letter of Alephbeis:  its Tarot is 6, The Lovers.  In Number Seven, all directional points meet at their Sabbath, or resting place.  The warrior puts his spear in the ground.  The true warrior exerts gentle control over … the thought process.   S/he is the needle through whose eye must pass the camel – i.e. the whole of the subconscious!

13 Gimel letter

Not as difficult as it sounds: the third letter of the Alephbeis (in Tarot, it represents Arcanum Two, the Priestess) is GIMEL, which means Camel.  In Hebrew the GOMEL CHESED means an act of kindness:  the camel will carry a traveller very far in the thirsty desert.

“4” centres the Seven – the four of matter.  To each side of this 4, are three digits, the supernal Triad. “3” centres the Five.   To each side there are two, the Binary poles.

The Chariot’s letter is the 8th, CHETh, meaning an enclosure, fence or field.  Its path is Binah Gevurah on the Tree.

The meaning of FIVE

Is that today – an almost tangible and quite definite sensation – a door, the needles’ eye into Jerusalem, stands open somewhere within my backbone, to an odyssey of infinite depth.  I never died.  I never will.  It finds its own, each time I am born.  It always will.

I suppose this is what leads to joy.

It ‘s quite strange.  The ground along the street to Waitrose, is a cushion to walk.  I have a cold in my head, which doesn’t matter.  I have a boundless universe inside.

… never mind the beautiful patterns of numbers around it …
and all I can say or know is:  it is THERE,
the yield, the ever-ever, within,

there is no death
and no confinement, just

the path that is rich, mid spine
like love, I suppose

travelling to greet the world, the portals of heaven
stand open within
the matter.

Oh, I suppose it’s probably a Chakra!

But who cares?   This is life.
It doesn’t introspect.
Life is.

The Chakras, Part 1- the Journey

..

[NB the time line became a little mixed up here!  The Chakras, Part 2 – the Mountains (posted 17 April 2013) is marked Previous to this one.]

Tree of Life, showing 3 granthis - solar plexus, throat and third-eye chakras

Tree of Life, showing 3 granthis – solar plexus, throat and third-eye chakras.  NB – the Sefira on the left pillar, centre, is GEVURAH.

..

This has become a somewhat Himalayan project.

You won’t find a conventional description of the Chakras here.  I don’t practice Yoga, nor think about them very much – but I have attended to what and where they are.  I did classes in the Tree and in the Body of Light.  The principles are laid down in my strata as an artist.   I get inspired by the Chakra principle:  it generates poetic images, landscape and inner journeys.

2 key 17 bota star

The Chakras are the Interior Stars.  For myself, Tarot Key 17 the Star awakes their spectrum, their depth all at once, from the subconscious.   With this figure, this picture, I send a fish-hook, a request into the deep;  and up comes all the data.   It glows – the chakra-spin.

3 Tree of Life chakras

My sketch of the Chakras on the Tree of Life is a body-of-light, or vehicle within which to perceive the universe.  It was done many years before I knew of this, formally.   When I am in this body of light, it takes me at once to the Himalayas;  to the sages and the sources.   That is the way I happen to be.

The mountains do not bestow their gifts in moderation.  Rivers flood, avalanches fall from the soaring rock, brushed by the aeons’ feather.   The mountains are slow:  their forces are vast.

So Part 2 of this series will contain two mountain galleries:  words and beyond words.

Paul Foster Case wrote:  – “The wise are silent.  They waste neither time nor energy in trying to say what cannot be said.  Some symbols, like those of Tarot, they have found to be more truly descriptive of their experience than words.  Yet even these symbols cannot communicate the experience itself, though they do call forth a response from one who uses them in the right way, and this response makes it easier for such a person to follow the Path of Liberation which leads within.”

In Elder Ancient Egypt, students and initiates drew formalised gardens – diagrams.  The plants, patterns and tools were hieroglyphs, symbols.  Look to their root!   A person working such a garden, needs to read the glyph and take the time to plant it inwardly:  to cultivate it during the seasons, so it flowers.   The inner garden, with a rich loam of life and nitrates, has no limit.   It delivers a visualisation, and leads the poets’ way.

I draw a lot of symbols, they are the flowers and seeds in my garden.   If I take the time to contemplate any one of them, the doors to the cosmos open.

So just a tiny bit now:  Because I write so much, it is a “baby adept”, like the Children of the Sun.  I have one foot in the inner and one foot in the outer circle.  I have yet work to do.

Tarot Arcanum 19 - the Sun

Tarot Arcanum 19 – the Sun

..

My previous post, The Chakras on the Tree of Life,  searched through the atlas:  foothills, Kabbalah, Jacobs Ladder, the KAV thread, and Leo Schaya on the tsim tsum.  “Chakra” means “a wheel”.  We can apply Chakra science to the Tree’s centres of consciousness, the rainbow spectrum – a fountain of white light within the colour seed – the pith within the Tree.

Now I will draw some threads together. There is so much material, I divide it into three new posts, to publish together.   I shall include some work (with my friend Actaeon) on the vagus nerve, the parental arch, the granthi knots,  ancestors and the Spirit, the Himalaya Ganga sources through Badrinath (Vishnu), and another glimpse of Kailas (Siva the soul’s pilgrimage).   Part 2 (next post) contains the Himalayan journey in my imagination.

Part 3 is called “A Star in the Field”.  It will include a couple of pages from J.Krishnamurti’s Notebook about his process, an observation by Paul Foster Case, and my “local tsimtrum” one day when walking up to Waitrose (“Oh-I-suppose-it’s-just-a-chakra”).  The tsim-tsum is a cosmic in-out and a chakra is an in-out – a spontaneous breath or prana.  We have little ones, and it is good to know what they really, really are!

Jacob's Ladder, 4 worlds

Jacob’s Ladder, 4 worlds

We don’t have chakras, we have CHAKRA the Great Wheel, the Gilgalem, the whirlings, the milky way.  The beads on our thread are a range of tones.  The 7 chakras are levels of the rainbow.  Each in principle has that tsim tsum feeling, as it clears.

Why was my soul drawn to this father’s seed and this mother’s womb?  What in their negative and positive energy field is crucial for development?  the lessons to be learned in this lifetime?  Soul hovered over them as they made love, and is drawn into the interplay of their DNA.  The Soul Triad locks into their ancestral DNA triad.

The tenfold Tree of Life within each of the ten Sefiroth, is a nut within a shell ad infinitum, a brain within a skull ad infinitum = the embryonic habit of infinite little containers, like the tetrahedron series without end, interiorly or externally …  Inward … out.

In part 2, we shall touch on the three Granthi knots, or levels on the Tree.  My friend Actaeon teaches this method.  It bridges Kabbalah with his study of Yogic Kriyas during the 1970s in an Indian guru-vasati setting.   This means:  living in the guru’s house, with his family.

The first or Brahma Granthi (naval chakra) is on the threshold of Awakening – Hod Netzach.  This is where we let go of negative aspects of ancestral DNA and release the energy which honours father and mother, the living and the dead.  The Fire in the belly lifts into the heart centre, into prana, which is Air.  We purify through consciousness, our Intention.

The Brahma, Vishnu and Siva granthis on the Tree

The Brahma, Vishnu and Siva granthis on the Tree:  persona, soul and spirit

..

The second and third Granthis are:  the heart centre soul triad (Tifareth-Gevurah-Hesed) and the Spirit triad (Tifareth-Binah-Hokhmah – third eye). We undo our attachments to Karmic patterns in previous lives, and to systems of belief which impede our realisation.

A Chakra is a Release Node – a higher vibration of our human potential.  The purification through consciousness, truth, love, of each centre, is therefore AN EMPTYING:  creation of a space inside – a TSIM TSUM …   for God to behold God.

This can be done through breath or chant:  through sound and breath:  life.   In life as a whole, accept the Macrocosm’s scrubbing brush! – the pain and tension of my event horizon when it still encloses me, and is being spring-cleaned.  Even so … I am an archaeological site, buried under winds, cities and dust of time.  And now I am being dug and brushed and revealed, detail by detail – and recorded in a notebook

The mind’s Atlas is the Himalaya of the soul.   The  path of the High Priestess, linking Tifareth and Kether through Daat, lifts heart and head.  “Love and you shall know” – this is the Thread, the KAV, the nut within the kernel.  There is no need to travel the world or go public.  The pulse is transmitted from the cave of the heart in the forest.  It reaches five souls at a time, maybe, which is more than enough to sprout onward through the centuries.

Buddha Chenrezig is a Tibetan embodiment of compassion which specifically does not seek reward, recognition or wealth.   It moves with the heart of the Universe, the river.

How to make a Chakra – on this general principle

stairwalker

stairwalker – play the sprung spiral like an accordian

As we saw in The Chakras and the Tree of Life … the KAV thread through the Tree, through fontanelle, heart, pelvis, soles of feet, may be wound up (spiral) and SPUN, like a spinzip toy:  the vibrational field.  This is Chakra.

Here is one which I made just now, in rather a hurry, to check that it works:

11 Spinzip

It does, very nicely, but the string loop should probably be a thinner one – all I could find immediately, was this garden twine.  Instructions are in my previous post – if you don’t already know how.  At school we coloured them both sides in many ways to see the patterns when it spins.  We also cut zig zag teeth round the edge – a chain-saw!  This device demonstrates planet principles of torque, centrifugue and centripetal rotation.

spinzip diagram

..

The KAV of Jacob’s Ladder has 11 circles. See Previous Post, for picture.  That is 7 chakras + 4:  the 4 is JHVH, the universal tetrahedron law, or “One Reality”.  J H V H is a triad of 3, with 4 (the second H) beginning a new triad from its centre.   This is called Tetragrammaton – the grammar of the Name – a circuit of 3 becomes 4 when produced into three dimensions – a Tetrahedron.  3 and 4 add up to – again – 7!

The Tree of Life combines laws of 7, of 3, and of 10.

In the hub of a wheel, in the black hole that births a star, nothing happens.  There is no time, space or boundary.  It is a full stop point, the pupil of an eye, containing infinite momentum.

Here is an introduction to the Journey to Badrinath in Part 2:

“On the Line of the Spine”  (From my colleague Actaeon’s Introduction to “Homer Rows” 2004)

“How do we go about resolving conflicts both internally and in the world?  How are we brought to a greater understanding of the life journey?  It appears that some religious groupings are in denial of anything to do with the science of sexuality.  A disconnection has in the past been made between the primal physical forces within us and our spiritual potential.  The result of this inability to unite the conventional and the unconventional, is fear and guilt.  If we are made in the divine image, then the nature of love expressed in sexual/spiritual orgasm is part of that Creation.

15 spiral Tree..

“Our sexual expression stimulates the male prostate gland, and the clitoral nerve antennae deep in the vagina.  Orgasm awakes the entire nervous system through the vagus nerve:  an intense physical, spiritual union.  In tantric Yoga this release of energy potential, called the Kundalini, (symbolized by a coiled snake) travels upwards through the body, awakening the senses and the mind;  it opens up our deeper levels of consciousness.  Perhaps one of the causes of prostate cancer in men is that they ignore the anal area, and so separate off a part of their sexuality?

“Historically, organized religion seems to have wanted to keep such knowledge from people, as part of a system of control and suppression.  This is no longer possible; as we have discovered through other cultures and techniques, a different relationship to our bodies and our sexuality.  Perhaps one day the separating of heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual will fall away, and the true nature of our human interrelatedness become realized.

Under the garden

Under the garden

 ..

“Yoga in the Eastern traditions, and Kabbalah in our Western traditions, help us realise our human potential to unite our physical and spiritual being –  no separation!  Yoga means in Sanskrit “to join” – or Union.  Kabbalah in Aramaic means “to receive”.  Through Kabbalah –  “the Tree of Life” –  we learn about the creation of our soul and its descent through the four worlds towards our parents making love.  This gives us an understanding of why we incarnate to those parents;  and the unfolding nature of the father’s seed in the womb of the mother, on the line of the spine.  So we discover the nature of the mind and our creative destiny;  the pattern of our ancestral genetic conditioning.  We come to discover the primal force behind our sexuality, our human relationship to the elementals and life on earth.

“Having made this descent – conception, birth – through the pathways of the Tree, we may discover how to ascend through the body, personality and Soul, and make the return journey to our Source.”

Violet Woman and the Hermit

..

siva crystal 2

I have been touching on the Tarot path of the Star, in my Parvati-Siva posts so far.   On the Tree of Life, this is Netzach to Yesod, Sphere of Venus to the Moon:  the Desire nature’s bond with the automatic consciousness.

Stop and reflect these resonances.   Venus is deep green, Moon a violet crystal.   These colours together are sweet, like my painting Flower the Despair of Painters, of which I could enlarge just the centre !

violet crystal detail

..

Occult practice employs them.  It turns them into oxes to pull and push the desires and beliefs, and to hurry things up a bit.   I don’t have a desire to do that.   I only want to “see that it is very good”.  To push and pull is the fate of illusion.

Arcanum 17 The Star

So she pours just for the sake of pouring.  The star shines just for the sake of shining.  Of the star’s interior are unbelievable forces and eternity.   Tangle the tiny walnut brain with more study?   No.  The structural school is all in position, the home (BETh) is built.   Illumine the bodymind with the star, the precision of being the woman pouring the water nakedly:  the pool, the twilight in the field.

In Tarot, Key 17 is called “the Intelligence of Nature“.  There is a butterfly on the rose.

I read Paul Foster Case’s Lessons, because his every single word as turned, is potent and unwasteful.   He is at the plough, and ropes of red earth upturn, like a river.  Use the senses as tattvas;  frank-incense smell generates a gothic temple.

plough

Tarot Key 17 is quintessentially myself, who sit here doing nothing but pour, pour, near the scarlet ibis in – hey, that’s a frankincense-tree!   The violet cannot help but smell secret and  lovely, the sound of the water to flow, the shine of the Stars to glow down seven chakras:  the staff of life, the subtle connection, the well, cosmos to the ground.

BOTA Tarot Keys 17 & 9

BOTA Tarot Keys 17 & 9

The picture language says it all.

In the background of Key 17 is the distant Violet Mountain. The Hermit standing upon its snows, shines the Lamp in pitch dark.   The Hermit is Yod, the semitic, semantic sperm of the Hebrew alephbeis, script of flame.  The woman of the Star is the medium, fresh as a daisy, contemplative as a brooding witch.   Key 17 joins up ALL THE WRITING in the well.   The little scarlet ibis in the incense-tree is Thoth, scribe of Hermes.

The Hermit is not alone.  He is all-One.  He is often misunderstood.  They think he is sad, but he is full of joy.

The Hermit’s YOD cap is deep blue, the colour of the Priestess’s subconscious ocean:  the ‘feminine’ sense of touch.  He is androgynous.  Key 9 is called “the Intelligence of Coition”.  It also governs alchemically, the assimilation of Solar energy in our food, which passes through chyle in the “black dragon”  (colon) into the blood as red and white “soldiers” – the cells which maintain life in every city of the body.  The cities are the organs.  You can see them in the old, romantic alchemical engravings, and it is called “The Work of the Sun”.  Through the Hermit, spiritual voltage is earthed, and enters the heartbeat:  and under the Hermit and his Priestess cap, sprout festivals of fertility.

There is an immersion in the beauties here.   What discipline permits the archetype to pass through and onward, workably?   The method of knowing the Tree brought me to this point of love.  But the love, though constant, is fluid and fleeting.   To build and refresh daily the astral eternal Temple –  Keep it practical.  Picture the chakras white, violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, red – the white first of all, an unbudding stellar brilliance, sinking through the rainbow strata to earth.

The chakras on the Tree of Life. The root chakra at the base of the spine, is actually our connection with the ground.

The chakras on the Tree of Life. The root chakra at the base of the spine, is our whole connection with the ground.

So much is written of the chakras, their arguable symbolism, their  colour systems and mantras … to confuse poor pilgrims in differing cultures.   None of it matters.   I find for myself, the simplest possible – the rainbow spectrum root to shoot.  Make the seven centres work, and keep it awake: plumbline into earth.   Does each flower, blade of grass, tree and bird, feel and re-member this? – even as Isis with her Osiris?  Nature is red in tooth and claw, but the core of Nature is bliss, the bliss of YHVH’s breath.

..

Alchemy Tree of Life, World of Assiyah, the materialAlchemy Tree of Life, the World of Assiyah, material, the physical Universe.  Note the violet path connecting Yesod (pale violet, the personal foundation) and Netzach (green) and the shadowy path (Netzach Malkuth) of sleep and cellular regeneration.  The Hermit path goes out-of-frame.  It joins Tifareth to Hesed (Grace & Opportunity) and its colour is a gold-shot green:  the musical key of F.

Malkuth Sefira – Earth –  contains the colours of the four elements, slate, citrine, rust and indigo. The oval is akasha-tejas tattva – the Saturn Mars centres.  Their balanced function is a secret Key to Gold:  it earths it.   In this spectrum, gold is Tifareth, the heart, or Sun, and Hod is bright orange, the “messenger” frequency, or bearer of the solar Rays.   Tifareth interweaves the male and feminine triangles in Malkuth and Yesod:  a Seal of Solomon, temple of the Living God.

These became my recipes over time;  but for more information of the Tree in Toledo tradition, visit http://www.kabbalahsociety.org

For Tarot in the Tree, visit http://www.bota.org, who do an excellent correspondence course. They teach the colour scale and its sound-frequencies, like a musical instrument.  They supply the 22 bota Tarot Keys in outline:  the student colours them in.

..

It takes practice, to inform the conditioned bodymind – to let sky-Siva penetrate the sleepy tangle.   For instance, for the third eye – violet – I picture a violet gossamer spinning sphere:  to see spring violets in their deep green leaves, I focus between the eyes.  The violet complementary tone is topaz – an orange crystal point of fire.   Seeing between the eyes quietens the mind, and brings detachment and the proper focus to a life-problem.   The tools and colours in the paintbox are all here:   use them!   Use them for freedom.

Lens

Lens – another violet crystal!

The plumb-line is a meditative state.   In my Aquariel “be-a-log” to companion this, I posted the Root and Shoot of the Priestess.   She belongs to the book of emerging method, and there she is, in the Hermit’s blue cap …   She’s been in the wings for a long while.   She was one of my early breakthroughs:  a method inspired by masonic symbols.

Memo to myself:  follow each initiative with love.
