The Lighthouse Keeper – Part Two

17 July                         PART TWO

I discover some thoughts in blogland which convert the esoteric learning curve and fascination, to Humanness, compassion, right living, mindful presence … which is what they truly are. They are atomic particles from a goldmine – the miners in the mountains, as the alchemists say.   Language slips away, into the hard graft, the Way of Life and love.

And I find another post, on moderation – enrich your life with simplicity, enjoying technology efficiently, but without excess.  The wealth is here and now.

I try to stay near the Hermit, for he is easy to visit across the starry water, and to find, and to cool my mind.  Enoch and the Well – see the post before “the Lighthouse Keeper part One” – was a profound contact.

The Hermit’s cottage is earth lined;  walls are minimally dressed, a plaster wash maybe, stone-flagged floor, and bits of rug.  When I go inside from the sunlight, I can just see an open fireplace for the kettle, and the table which sages and teachers have – the noble grain is scrubbed white.   There’s a bench and possibly a chair or two.   Enter this room at any moment, without even crossing the water:  a brief impression of the lake in my mind.   I am here, within the summer drone of outdoors.

9 hermit - Version 3..

The Hermit is my Tarot Arcanum 9, and sometimes he looks like this.   He doesn’t  reveal too much.  Impression of a person of great delicacy, able hands.   His presence is a sweet altitude in my breath.

When I drew him in my Arcana in 1991, I was giving up smoking.  His is the Tarot of the Will: the deep impenetrable power which picks up life and helps to overcome old addictions, however painful it is to do so.

There is an absence of the sharp smoker in my breath;  an absence of other attachments also, as they wore away.   They become light cloths or rags – the sun burnt holes in them –  they do not matter.  Yet I feel a little bereaved of my romantic intensity. Sometimes there is a “flip-flop” – as Ramesh Balsekar would say – to a momentary surface sceptic, who lost that fuel, and feels tired.

The Hermit is the well:  the well of depth, delicacy, wonder and becoming.   His blue cap is YOD – I need the concentration.   I get scattered easily.

bota key 9 hermit

I cannot see many disciples rowing across the lake with groceries for him, but I suppose he has them.   Each is like myself, and feels uniquely connected.   He is yet Self- sufficient – our sense of “all-oneness” alone.   Between the physical and subtle worlds, he doesn’t need much to eat.  Like Master R, he is fueled by oats, honey and fresh water.   I am sure he keeps hens too.   He keeps bees and makes strong cider from his fruit trees.   He is actually quite busy.  Profoundly Virgoan, he manages to grow and grind enough oats and wheat for his bread.  There is some for visitors.  He is busy! – he is a smallholder.   Yet he has the gift of the Magidim, to increase his present supply – the well never empties.   He handles in this Way, the physical environment, by touch.   I can learn everything from this, bringing it back to accompanying my loved ones.

He is maintained physically through his well fed students.   We give him manifestation.

(There is a high Law in Creation (Beriah), which in the lower astral worlds (Yetzirah), gets perverted to vampirism.   Vampirism is not just the Dracula tales of old. It rampages through relationships, the media and the commercial world in the collective subconscious, and generates imbalances.  Its fuel is ignorance and greed).

But the Law between student/disciple and the Inner-plane being, is the Law of love – a two-way current of regeneration.   As Ramesh Balsekar used to say, there is no Guru until the devotee discovers and makes him so.   Guru manifests in dialogue.  Guru takes shape and eternal fluid form, according to the desire for interior peace.   Guru is not a person.  Guru is a sanskrit word, meaning “dispeller of darkness.”

..

Magid

..

The interior contact established, is Antakharana or pipeline for the Maestri.   It is the conduit whereby an electron orbit of life, jumps to a higher one.  Through Daat – union on the Tree of Life – the quantum leaps.  Profound distress is often the prompt.   Out of the depth we cry to thee, and we leap.

When we find Guru, the dispeller of the dark, we pray together.  That means, there is an interior birdsong, the light of the Holy One … through the sap of each tree in the countless forest.   My Hermit’s eyes are amused; sometimes blue and sometimes brown.

“Find what you are gifted in, which no one else does, or is;  and develop that.”
Peace Mercutio!   and gratitude.

Now I love the Hermit, who is Hermetic mercury.   He combines in his fragrant person, the Cube, the staff of Asclepius (one snake), the caduceus (two snakes) and all those quivers of the quick silver.   The highest region of alchemical mercury is the golden cube Tattva in the Sahasrara lotus “above my head”.   The nectar is collected in the third eye, which bows like a swan through Sushumna, to the heart.   My heart is a Sun with wings.   The staff materializes down through the lower chakras, and meets like a root, snake-entwined – the lovely Kundalini.   It is silent.

..

Kundalini awakening opens inexhaustible secrets of the Universe.  They burst up through my column in a fountain of “write”.   There is no end to the play of the Fountain – the j h v h pulse.    As I grow older, I discover the silence is all the secrets of the Universe, and nearer than my breath.   Access to them – the key – can be turned to love or to self-inflation:  to Life or to live-backwards which is evil.   Of themselves the Mysteries are neutral – they get converted to human feeling and to Old Issues, expediently.   There is no end to Nature’s cosmic abundance – the empress:  wisdom and folly.

..

The Empress, Arcanum 3

The Empress, Arcanum 3

..

The note in my mind just now is A-sharp – violet:  the meditation key.  Though my Hermit contact is so personal, I feel I can and should share him.   Why?  because the inner hermit is Archetypal – a type of home coming..

The lovely Kundalini is a Rod stuck into the ground:  she twirls like a distaff, spinning yarn. We are individually suited to perceive objective Teachers or subjective ones.   I am of the subjective type.  I develop my picture story, as an artist, a maker of windows.  However, their symbols and associations within my field, are an ancient Common land.  It is free for all who have the heart’s entry.  A fluid, shape-shifting firewall is not static.

Being a subjective type, means I co-create:  that my creations when mature, reside on the astral plane for other souls to access.  It gave me a lot of responsibility, to define over the decades, what it entails, and how to edit, and how to sieve the wheat from chaff.   There were and are deep wounds in life.   But the Process is a shining farm-labourer, carrying the sheaves for stacking, in scratched hands.

Wheatsheaf in the shape of letter GIMEL, with labourer in the field

Wheatsheaf in the shape of letter GIMEL, with labourer in the field

..

Sometimes my entire lifetime is joined together, all the impressions as  One.   Fancy admiring farm labourers when I was a child … because they showed me the essence of the Great Work which I would engage in – the Will.   Our soul knows infinitely beyond what we think we know, or are taught.   I have the same knowledge now, extending into the future.   What is it?

bota key 3 Empress - Version 2

What do I know about my Self?  and the farm labourers carrying wheat?   There need be no verbal answer yet, but how does it feel?

Harvest and fertility.  My drawing of the wheat-sheaves stacked together, forms a Gimel.   But Gimel is the potential harvest of the Priestess.   While the Empress is Venus, and pregnant among standing wheat, the Priestess is aligned with Mercury.   The Priestess of the Moon is aligned with Mercury because she keeps the shrine swept, and holds the memory.   The shrine, a cave in the earth, is Virgoan, and thus Mercurial.  Recall and respect the Shrine in my everyday doings.

..

What is my knowledge of the future?   Rather than speculate, which the surface-mercury does haphazardly and with fear, build and sweep the inner shrine each day:  creation – a conscious performance.

Where I am coming to now, is the job of the personal shrine.   This is the one which makes the contact.   Organised shrines administer the contact by committee to belief.

The personal shrine is a holy place.  By whatever means, it enters the wide world, beginning HERE.   In Halevi’s zodiac wheel, the 6h house (Virgo-ruled) is “Operation”.  Virgo as the shrine, and as the cosmic secretary, operates:  “le opere” are the works.   Transmission – as on military ships – is a morse-code operator.

..

My personal shrine suffers a continuing breakdown of shallow pride.   When we accept the job of Lighthouse Keeper, we accept this.   We live in a tower which shines at sea.  By hook or by crook, my dark tower of pride, my cracking seedcase, transforms to a tower of alchemy.

GALLERY – to view, click on any image and wait to upload

..

A tower of alchemy – (and make of it precisely what I can) – shines across the sea like the Hermit’s lamp, and the vessels out there can see it.  The Hermit stands on a mountain guiding souls up the path:  the Lighthouse keeper stands in the sea – Hermes walks in the sea, carrying a globe and Staff –  the same.   I shall get submerged again during the day, but I write this, as always, with the commitment to transmission, here and now.

A note on HARPIES – when passing between Scylla and Charybdis:

When I look at my harpies – the spiteful scolds –  they stop what they are saying.  If I look at them, they cannot speak or screech.   Give it time.  They look horrible and hot and carrion, and they might change colour.   Mine are black like crows, and after a while they turn greyish, they start to fade and get weak and meaningless.   Harpies do not thrive on being held in the air and looked at.  They thrive on swooping – just as I am dozing off – and pushing and stabbing and being heard and believed.

Dawn complaints drift slowly apart, like heavy clouds.  The nectar is a little stream on the hillside, as I touch up my recent Tarot reflection – a visual poem in itself, within Death and the Empress to each side.  I like the way the Priestess and the Hanged Man peep through the firm positions of the Chariot and the Emperor – I love the colour scheme.

..

I am depressed about the human monkey and all its unhealthy persuasion.   Deeply so – I have to wrestle with it all the time.  My small old fashioned sermons to myself are mocked by the disturbing glitter of DNA-meddlesome-technology.

Yet that genetic engineering stuff, the ‘playing god’, is itself ILLUSORY.  I see this now.   It is a trap – a religion even – capturing worshippers, consumers and fearful adherents.   When my Hermit helps me to awaken, I have perspective;   I see a scale of values.   I see the utter seductiveness of the monkey game, which has no understanding of the Great Game of cosmic balances.   The monkey game believes and fears, that we humans are all alone, spearheading the universe and bent on self destruct.   That primitive dark-ages concept prevails.   I feel something other, beyond and behind and inside the box.   Is this too, a daydream, a denial?    Who can say?

The one thing which is sure, is the Good.  The essential human values and friendship.  The right from wrong.   It has an utterly different flavour from anxiety-default-mode – or ambition – which crowds and occupies the race’s big brains.

Parallel worlds touch and mutually thrive.

The hanging man overturns the conventional occupation.  “Go on walking contrary to the way of the world.   Lift a stone and I am there”.   The hanging man upends the nightmare. With my Hermit in the cottage, is the moment smelling of bees;  eternity. Choose eternity!

Bumping into the Light

..

Buddha wheel at Kettles Yard

..

A week ago I had a bad fall from my new bike.  Riding happily down a leafy country lane quite fast, I didn’t see the drift of loose sand and gravel across it until too late;  I crashed from a great height, like Humpty Dumpty and my right leg is still developing the story in fantastic technicolour!   When I got home, I applied arnica, St Johns Wort oil for haemorrhoids (? which I don’t have, thanks God), and ice to the enormous bump and grazes, with good effect.  I cannot resist quoting from this consoling email which arrived soon after, from Uncle Apothecary’s Garden across the pond:

“Ahhh   The drama of life!!   Poor new bike!!  Haha. Yes. Poor you of course!!  I am happy your body wasn’t too badly banged up, and so glad I could help it heal in some way!! Ouch!  Maybe it should be called something instead of hemorrhoid oil? Humpty Dumpty oil? Puts things back the way they were.  Reversing oil?  That St. John’s Wort oil is something isn’t it? PutitbackthewayitwasOil? Even without my help, it seems to make all sorts of repairs on its own.

“A three wheeler for you ?  … Maybe life just thought you needed to get up close and personal with Nature? Too much putting up of feet in a retired person kind of way. No retirement for us, Jane.   D.”

..

Life

..

I was terrified lest my beloved Bike was irreparably damaged by my misadventure …  But it suffered little more than a scratch – basically – and thanks to the marvellous Oil of Life, we are riding around again, just as before.

..

What is the provide-ence?  Why indeed is Humpty Dumpty egg-0 shaped?   And what did I actually bump into?

I haven’t room here to describe the carnival of rugged rocks, revelations, pesterings and personalities that rose and fell during the week;  but I did wonder what underlying current of ‘the teaching‘ I might retrieve.  And each morning I studied, and wrote my diary:

15 June – ON SOUND AND COLOUR

Paul Foster Case writes:  “Blue-violet, A-natural, is the tone-frequency of Saturn:  the power in us which puts on the brakes.   Sacral plexus, base of the spine.  Excretion of waste:  transmission of life/regeneration.   Skin, knees, ankles, kidneys, lumbar spine, vasomotor system (blood?), bones.  Kundalini is the storage-battery.  It is charged with the residual energy left over from the various body functions.”

This is rather a wonderful thing to reflect on!   Having a tough time with the material world, and discussing with my Aries friend how the lungs work (he like most of us, didn’t know they are like seaweed floating up and down in water, the alveoli, the delicate little expanding sacs inviting air, many of which feel crushed by the pain of his cracked rib, and recovery is delayed by smoking.  So now he goes SWIMMING.)

Right now, I sense the miracle of this residual energy from the body functions.   What keeps the body functioning is cosmic;  the physical body in balance is cosmic;  the Kundalini when available, is awesome and eternal.

Serpent of Light – and Ibis – detail from Hermes Trismegistos 2003

..

In my inner eye, I catch sight – as if through a door – of the living, wonderful Snake of Light;  the extraordinary manifestation of what we actually are … and the living mass of trillions of individual cells like stars in water.  In outer space you might travel at 10,000 miles an hour, yet feel you are standing still, because there is no air to resist you.  In the interior body-cosmos, we are 80% water, and this, as made of atoms, is 99% empty space.   Everything I am, flows seamlessly through itself.

And simultaneously I have hard heads, bodies, legs, and a complex of interior organs; and I bump, and I have a great fall, and I get embarrassed, and I have one brittle worry after another to believe fervently in;  and I try to cope with life!   What is Real?  What of all those tossed up egg-shells?

tetrahedral cube 93 copy

In a dome the size of St Peter’s in Rome, if a nucleus were a single grain of salt, the positions of electrons would be a few specks of dust – they whirl through the great chamber of space.  They are not objects but waves enwrapping the salt grain.  Salt crystallizes to the cube, the basic structure of all matter.  The cube’s six points when circumscribed reveal the Seal of Solomon or sphere.  The lines extended from the equilateral tetrahedrons form the web of our world.  Upon this subatomic lattice the electronic paths come into being.

And now I have the Snake of Light.   The Stellar power manifests through my body’s organs, and if they are all using it and working well enough, what is left over is the Serpent.   It bursts the box.   The Serpent spoke to Eve, and she told Adam and said, Taste the fruit!

Adam & Eve detail

..

Imagination beholds the Serpent, as alive as in all the revelations of Alchemy and Yoga.   It is fiery, with gleams of gold and red, and permeated with white light;  and it is a loopy dragon.   It brings no rush to my system, but to see it is peacefully liberating … the deep inner chamber, the realisation that I am the stars.  The realisation itself coils and is the DNA.   The mercury mind abandons any attempt to spell the countless codes.   None of that is necessary when I see Great Hermes in principle.   I see him now as in my painting.   Calm and still, and just perceived;  but luminous.   Clarity of thought.

..

Last week was “one bloody thing after another” as Mr Gurdjieff used to say.  Dealing with non-deliveries and bureacratic fluff, was particularly frustrating.  While battered from crashing my bike – the invisible wall of life – I did a post on Aurobindo’s Savitri, and in the other blog, I did two on Master R.  Light relief !

At the same time, a local  “harassment” issue arose, in which I took an interest:  and a neighbour’s abuse of strong painkillers.  I feel I am shown, not to deny any situation or challenge, but to learn to remain detached enough during it, to receive the bigger picture.  It’s not easy.  Keep practicing!

When I started to write about the Serpent of Light this morning, I remembered the addicted neighbour, and realised our human plight in its extremity:  the abysmal ignorance about our bodies.  Unconsciously, we regard them as punch-bags of perished putty – thus the  cosmetic advertising.  Do I really live in my body?   mostly I daydream along, somewhere outside it.  Unconsciously the body is an enemy, ready to spring cancer and limitation into the movie-go-round.  The neighbour … she is wasted.  She says “I want a high.”

In Kabbalah, Malkuth of the Tree is the Kingdom, the field, the root of Kether:  the embodied Conscious will.  We have the free will simply to remember this, whenever we can:  remember the conscious breath.  In my view, the free will accepts and flows with the Will which is cosmic:  the river in every organ.   When I am awake, my body is the earth … Gaia.

Some souls – like the neighbour – have so deeply self-harmed that they live beyond repair.   Whatever her GP gives her, she abuses and uses up.   Couldn’t he prescribe her an antidote?  But nothing stops the self destruction of the living dead, until they turn and begin to climb out of the pit.   Whatever an outsider may do for the sufferer, is turned to abuse.  It is like a quicksand.

That soul takes responsibility, to become human, to become embodied;  to respect life.   Everything we are is a condensation of what we chose upstream in this or other lifetimes :  and the faculty to make a small but fundamental choice of direction, is an individual one.   It is also in human nature to “hit rock” first.

And I dreamed someone allowed himself to drown without regret in the leaden-grey sea:  was this my Shadow?  Or an opting out – a runaway, a suicide?    The same Life remains, wherever it is left … the same problem to deal with.

Paul Foster Case writes: “The right direction and sublimation of the coiled up serpent power, is the major operation of the work of Yoga.  Its sublimation is the Great Work of western Alchemy.”

I saw, as I began to write of Saturn and the Serpent of Light – the excretion and the transmission of life – the balance and clarity of function and of thought:  the mercury through the body – the Sun-cube through the veins and arteries.  It is called the path of Administration.

PFC writes, “the mental effects of this blue-violet vibration are poise, deliberation and concentration.”

This is the discriminating blade of Saturn in the ZAIN path of the Lovers:   Saturn on the Tree is Binah:  and the path of Binah – Tifareth is the parting and the placing together of things without mixing them wrongly, or blurring them.

..

“An over-active Saturn  – the violet-indigo vibration –  results in fear and in retaining waste, which poisons the body.”   Tension hardens the sphincters by torsion.  “Deficiency of Saturn weakens the bony structure and leads to dreaming without doing, and to eccentricity and rashness.”

If we are destined for a path of Knowledge or genuine Kabbalah, its opening stages can be violently painful, physically or emotionally.    The awakening – coming to grips with the Light – is like Jacob wrestling the Angel.   We cannot yet see what it is, but we are magnetically wedded to it all over.   The Presence in the long years before it begins to dawn and take shape, is a fearsome commodity in relationships, work or whatever is given to tackle.   When I was a baby, I woke crying from the recurrent nightmare of a high, sharp mountain range which screamed.   That Himalayan range, as I grew up into it, became the ancient Self.

images

..

Now, some poetry:

I see in my past, a preparation of the Great Work in “the Rain Check Dream” in the Watershed.   It was like a cauldron in the cellar of the seas, and is accurately described.  I have quoted it in an earlier post, but here it is again:

“There was a feeling, in these sequences of dreams, of the light of the Sun’s fire.   It grows in a cauldron whose substance I cannot quite see.   Time entered and gave it meaning.   Time with it brought feelings and images of something male, unknown and triumphing, a power or vividness which I recognized,  something outside or new to myself, something I welcomed.   The cockbird crowed.   I touched with it, stone in a secret place.    A mosaic of window panes fell away, and I lived now in light between the fragments of an archipelago which danced upon the sea.   Upon the crests of the waves came wild plumed horses to meet me, blow upon my making.   Yet, too acute an occult concentration may mask fear and emotional poverty.

“I put it down,  I left it,  went to have lunch.

“The thing in my absence maintained its steerage, and when I returned to the cellar of the seas,  I purchased with it my vision.   From the dawn a tribe of sea-lions drew chariots of fire and the sun waxed until it filled the whole sky.   I welcomed. And still it was held, this unknown thing, this flame, in the quiet equilibrium of hands.   Upon the potters wheel rises slow my city of Gathertegen, for my children to generate;   the wrong rotation,  the wrong touch, vanity, it crumbles.

“Again and again, between sheets white as snow whose melt is the ocean, the seed was taken, and it grew.   “Let God guide you.”    It widens and is shaped with hands, it is something fiery which glows.”

..

..

I suffer it before I become it easily.   This is clear.   When the human organism is transitioning from the racial form into the ageless form, it crosses a Quantum field – an electron leaping to a higher orbital frequency.

From “I Dreamed on Good Friday Morning”

“To clamber through to the other side was now deliberate ;
to dream an unreal fairground scene of desolation –
phantasm of effort:  for may we not connect, at any time
with or without the surface body?

My inertia could not turn.
I could not walk, but on the cakewalk I
let my awareness open, soften, surrender the vibration itself;
and into a neural chaos drowned,
seeking comfort, smudging circuitry.

For a few seconds only, the cooperation eased;
then wave clusters dense, collided, cancelled, jammed to a screech
braining damage
metallic resonance of Light on high,
a black hole curved to singularity, destruct survive –
cried out.  Woke.”

Poems of Eclipse,  1999

..

..

And this poem which is called “The Beginning of Seeking.”  Ramesh Balsekar spoke of the beginning of seeking, as a dark night of the soul when the ego realises – “Who is this I, i am so concerned about?” – and there is nothing that can be done.   For me the beginning of seeking was in the Karmic minefield of a relationship:

“I call our story “beginning of seeking”
but actually it was the end
when I ambushed you with attitudes
and so called success
of culture and conditioning –
and your Tales from No-mans-land began.

I saw my hands and arms, unstoppably
sew for you unsuitable shirts
of their own accord.

From vulnerable no mans land
sprang a battlefield, twist of swords
helpless to prevent
as a silver birch’s stem to order the leaves that branch –
or forest to restrain the deer.

I saw mercenaries, armed to the teeth
lay siege to a house within the storm
which stays untouched ;
which does not break,
but into which all broke, each plate
and cup of repaired fragility.

The beginning of seeking happens when
an open house is closed,
and swords lay siege

to a grey and starving maiden
locked inside.

Secret Dakini Oracle spread, 15 June 2013

..

Spirituality is the way things work in life.   Last week came a  gleam of light – the Serpent of Light in the archway of the inner life:  Hermes.   The other day, I cast the dakini oracle.   The horses look at one another across it, and the Serpent rises through Mula, the dark Goddess, the root chakra or muladhara.  The first card, “Earth Bound” at the top, is actually Tarot Key 21, The World.   The one in the middle, apex of the pyramid, is the Karmic living goddess:  a higher insight level.   The oracle reflects what I was thinking about. Give it time.

Aries and I went for a walk and discussed why life is so unbelievably hard and painful for some people – the knocks, the battering …  the spiritual path.

It is the way the Light looks and feels, when we are still in training, and bumping into it.

Even a bike crashes on the road to Damascus!

The Chakras with the Tarot Keys

..

41 - Sri Chakra & Vitruvian

This post, concluding my Chakra journey, partners Vishnu, the Covenant and Exodus in my other blog, Aquariel.

(Hence, my new drawing of Vishnu in this one also.)

The Builders of the Adytum Tarot cards are supplied as line drawings, uncoloured.  We  colour them in “by the book”, to take them into our own energy field, as co-creators.  The colour relationships speak louder than words.  In this set of windows into the inner plane,  each colour has its musical tone, Hebrew letter, number and vibration.  Very long ago, when the teaching of the Ageless Wisdom was endangered, it was put into coded picture form, to protect it from abuse and persecution.  Additionally, the subconscious responds to images rather than words:  the pictures as living archetypes were circulated underground, and survived.  In the Middle Ages they surfaced as a deck of playing cards.  In the 19th century, Eliphas Levi and others revived a Kabbalistic Tarot, and re-discovered the key to the Greater Mysteries.

Eliphas Levi (1989)

Eliphas Levi (1989)

Eliphas Levi referred to the Tarot as a divine algebra, and wrote, “A prisoner devoid of books, had he only a Tarot of which he knew how to make use, could in a few years acquire a universal science, and converse with an unequalled doctrine and inexhaustible eloquence.  The oracles of the Tarot give answers as exact as mathematics, and measured as the harmonies of nature.  By the aid of these signs and their infinite combinations, it is possible to arrive at the natural and mathematical revelation of all secrets of nature.

..

The 22 Tarot Keys are a full Alchemical process, a western Yoga method.  Not only does each one have its special path on the Tree of Life:  pictorially they illustrate the Chakras for westerners.  This illustration shows the sequence from left to right – the root chakra being The World, the sacral chakra The Tower, and so on.

Each Chakra has its specific planetary vibration.  Of the 22 Tarot Keys/Hebrew letters, 1,2,3,10,16,19 and 21 are traditionally assigned to the alchemical properties of the planets.   If we want to practice the instrument more deeply, this colour scale is equally related to musical tones and frequencies.   Therefore, when we look at those colours in sequence, or study the Tarot Keys together, their picture language messages those centres in our subconscious.

The Indian Yoga system energizes the subtle/physical centres more subjectively.   This science of the nadis is ideal for a culture where a meditative life style apart from life’s muddle is – or has been – supported.

The Western Alchemy system disapproves of this, because it can overload and imbalance the physical
organs and endocrines.

Our system is based on the mutual information of self
conscious and subconscious.  It therefore views the chakras objectively, as pictures to observe and meditate on.

The Indian emphasis is on purification and immediate deliverance from caste restrictions.  The Western emphasis is on acceptance of life’s rough and tumble, and that things take time to ripen.

So with the Builders of the Adytum, we lay out the Tarot Keys for the seven chakras, and contemplate them one by one, and in relationship.  Each one is designed to “message” or illumine its assigned centre.   There is an elder wisdom of subtle anatomy in this.

My rainbow spectrum for instance (discussed in the last 4 posts), is a view of the chakra principle all in one – the white light fountains up through the colours of the rainbow, as Ruach;  as Kether:  the cleft of the seed.   To go into more detail, we need to adopt a system which suits us.   It doesn’t matter which one, for their destiny is the same.   The Indian system for instance, is very elaborate, with gods, colours and Sanskrit intonations for each one, and I have not studied it.

I think the inclusion of gods and prayers helps to protect and guard the physical centre so transposed and energised.   It does not do to gloss over any esoteric system superficially.   Nobody can play certain kinds of music till they have practiced the notes, the keys, the scales and arpeggios.   Those musicians who are natural and brilliant improvisers, inherit the fruit of previous lifetimes’ practice! – built into the cellular and subtle memory.

So called spirituality is a detailed map of anatomy, physiology and psychology rolled into one.  Coming to us from the ageless wisdom, it not only instructs:  it creatively inspires, and kindles the secret of health, vigour and love.

The proper description of a Chakra is “vibration”.   Without the primal vibratory wave or concentricity, no organ, no physical function can come into being, or operate, or be coherent with the rest.   When we are awake to our chakral centres, we move a little upstream, into their potency.   We reflect on the potency rather than on the visible area or physique.

This is a homeopathic practice.   We move upstream from the molecules to the atoms.   (The atoms clump together in numerical patterns to form binaries and thus the molecular lattice.)

Solar Plexus chakra - bota Key 10, The Wheel

Solar Plexus chakra – Tarot Key 10, The Wheel – Jupiter

As mind and body are interwoven through the organic capillary of Daat, the Tarot Keys as archetypal pictures of each centre, bring clarity to the way we think and live.

The Tarot Keys are codes.  They are cylinder locks, whose numbers open the inner room.

It is a waste of time and energy to try to resolve the different Chakra systems and “prove” their different colour notations together.  It is best to work with whichever one you respond to best, and to respect the way other systems – according to culture – teach the Word, with a different spelling.

“Churning”

He displaced his passionate mind.
His quest into the nadis churned
from nadir’s night, the nectar; then turned
to embrace undying spark, refined.

Reversing dark to light, the dross to burn,
he suffered his painful insistence.
In Self, the Self is all existence
consuming resistance:  in Atma born.

Within and without, the same lamp shines.
He saw as One the world,
so broke the nexus, knot of nadis furled.

In my dwelling, light enshrines
my bond of body, Self empearled:
the churning is the Sun itself, pure gold.

Notes from a Group Discussion, 21 April 2013

In Key 14 Temperance or Probation,  the Archangel appears like a white Fountain, shining through the rainbow spectrum and the worlds.

Key 7 the Chariot, is a stepped-down voltage of Key 1 the Magician:  to form an enclosure or vessel for the seed of light.

bota key 7 The Chariot

bota key 14 Temperance

..

NOTES ON KEY 14:  Why are the sky, crown and seven point star coloured gold?   To prove the Work of the Sun.  Yellow, and thus also gold, are the Eagle’s beak (speech) and feet (walkers of the Path) and the lion’s eyes (sight). Eagle and Lion are otherwise earth-brown, the mixture of the primary colours as solid clod.   Gold gleams through life’s clouds, like it does through Earth’s mineral veins.  Gold within our bodies and within the planet, is “petrified sunlight”.

The path just visible behind the lion, is also gold.   In the distance, this golden path reaches the twin peaks Binah and Hokhmah.  Above and between them shines the Crown of the Sun – Kether on the Tree.

Clearly, we can study each Tarot Key from Malkuth subjectively, as a map of the Tree looking upward into the living Sefiroth.

The Archangel who pours the fire which flows and the water which burns, is clad in shining white. Over him is a rainbow corona.  The whiteness fountains up through the apparent rainbow spectrum.  The Archangel’s wings are designated red, but I have coloured this redness to contain the shine of the rainbow itself, through it.   Light plays and dances this way, everywhere.

The seven point Star on the Archangel’s breast cannot be exactly measured by our earthly geometry.  7 does not divide exactly into 360 degrees.  Each angle of arc from centre to two points of the star, is just over 51 degrees.   This is the same angle of inclination in the Great Pyramid.  The correct figure can be found by tying knots in a druid’s string.

(9) Seven Branch Star

..

In other words, the attempts to measure things exactly by our geometry, do not adequately reflect the Cosmic pattern.  If we force the issue, the result is discordant.   If piano keys are tuned logically, each at an exact interval from its neighbours, the result is discord – it clangs.   A piano tuner works concentrically from centre or middle C, adjusting the relationships of octaves, intervals and chords till they “chime”.   Each key has three strings:  the adjustment of the resonance, to ring.   Every occult and esoteric system through our history is based on the triad – the primary circuit of electric power.

The tetrahedron is a circuitry – with its new cycle emerging from the “produced” fourth point, whichever way it turns.

Tuning a part in relation to all its surroundings is a way of Mandala – the way a keyboard tuner checks the chords around and fore and aft, to harmonise.   Such are our individual lives in relation to all the other parts being played.  It is the Sri Chakra web, constantly being tuned.

How do we tread the path?   Start walking into Nature’s mirror!   What is the Great Work?  We keep plodding.  Our subconscious and selfconscious learn to converse, rather than to collide.

..

Yehudi Menuhin was born with an old Talent or passion.   As a child, he played without practice, and could perform anything.  It was all embedded in his cellular subconscious.  As a teenager, he became self-conscious and the faculty disintegrated.   He became a notoriously unreliable musician, because his tutelary subconscious was not yet working consciously.  The levels were in disharmony.  He played wrong notes, he fell out of rhythm, he was Out of Tune!   So he had to re-tune.  Yehudi’s autobiography about his re-tooling process, is very moving.   Falling off the adult pedestal of Prodigy, he had to learn like a child, the scales, fingering and arpeggios.  Gradually, the fully in-formed musician emerged.  Kabbalistically, we have to balance the right and left pillars in our Ground.

This calamity and the dark valley it took him through, led him to study Yoga and be a messenger for Iyengar in the west.   Similarly – like Barenboim – Yehudi became an ambassador for Israeli cultural consciousness, and the healing of the holocaust.   He took world citizenship;  he spoke out about ecology;  he expanded his musical horizon to India and to jazz;  he experimented and played his fiddle with Ravi Shankar and with Grapelli – not very well, some think:  how could he keep up with these Masters?  His enthusiasm was contagious.

Galactic Core and 2012

Key 14 – the Arcanum of Probation, the testing of the spirit – is assigned to Sagittarius.  Viewed from Earth, the Sagittarian constellation is superimposed on Galactic centre.   Sagittarius is called Mula in Indian astrology.   “Mula” means the root, and Muladhara (root hari …) is the name of the base chakra in the Indian system.

“Mula” is likewise darkness and death, according to our projection – the unseen black hole of an Unimaginable Light behind billions and billions of stars and years of light.   Great sages perceive, in the core of our galaxy, the root of the multitude whirlings (gilgalem),  a Sun so vast our physical eyes cannot see it.   The American seer, Robert Adams spoke often of it.

robert sketch empty

Now, at the end of the Mayan calendar, 21 December 2012, our Sun transitted this degree of Mula forming an exact alignment with it.   At all other times – as the galaxy is not a disk but three-dimensional and moving as a spiral – this transit rocked above or below the point.

This time, on that day, there was a kind of eclipse, rather like in our microcosmic scale, the biannual alignment of earth, sun and moon.

We all were aware subconsciously, of the gathering moment of the dark crossing, and each culture projected its own tensions upon it:  there was a concerted belief, deeper than usual -(due to the transit and to long projections onto the telescoping of time) – in the Worlds’ End.

This tension had built up over several decades, and is now released in the way tidal waves travel through the cosmos as unseen ripples.   Only with many decades’ hindsight will we be able to discern the effect.   We are still inside its “eye”.   We are affirmed to drop some of our bundles which bind, and look through a window to a simpler way of life.   It is as if what bothered us so much before, gets unknotted and drops away.   What we seem to agree on, is a new and multi-dimensioned perception of Time.  Time is not a line, but a sphere – a flower of spheres.

..

The shift is timeless, but in our terms it doesn’t happen overnight.   More likely, we enter a process of facing each of our restrictions and working through them: conflict resolution.

On the whole, and in planetary fashion, there is a reduction of general tension, a slowing of the breath.  We passed through the centre of the hourglass.

Netzach Hod Temperance

Netzach Hod Temperance

Key 14, Temperance, illustrates the fact that “the Sun, the Crown is coming to find you.”: “equilibrium is the royal road to gnosis”.  To the left is the cool current (water on lion) – inhale;  to the right, the warm current (fire on eagle) – exhale.

The teaching advises:  if we want to achieve something, try focusing on its complementary or polar opposite, to allow it to grow.  Our wishes often overload and incapacitate the desired object.   Cushion the billiard shot!   Most esoteric methods are cunning billiard shots.   The cue hits the ball into the pocket by bouncing another one to it, from off the edge.

The Great Work is:

the way of an Eagle in the air,
the way of a Serpent on a rock,
the way of a Ship on the sea,
the way of a Man with a maid.

As all the medieval Alchemists agreed:  when our eyes are open to the Inner Gold, or work of the Sun – unbrokenly aligned to the whole galaxy –  we shall never more know poverty of means or spirit.

This fact, engendering awe, love, freedom and reverence – the sacred Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh –  is Brahman, the Tathagata, the Buddha Nature, Yeshua, the Arc of the Covenant.

As the Age of Aquarius matures, the Arc is delivered from priesthoods, into our hearts’ response-ability;  into these feet which do walk the Road, into these hands which touch, this heart which speaks openly.   Thus, there are more born on Earth at present, than ever before;  containing by homeopathic proportion, a larger number of the Awakened incarnates.

We who awake traverse a valley of great shadow where the Sun is rising over the mountains.  We sow glow-worms in the abyss …  seeds of gold.

Tarot Empress: Arcanum Three

Here are some more writings and sketches of Angels, from my workbook on Tarot Arcanum Three.  Starting this topic in my previous post, I realised it is rather a large one – so this is Part Two!

Jacobs Ladder - Archangels & Names of God - 1992

Jacobs Ladder – Archangels & Names of God – 1992

(1) YOD … The extended Tree of Life, or Jacobs Ladder, shows the interlocking Four Worlds of Ezekiel’s vision: physical (nature and chakras), psychological (planets), Creational (angels) and the Absolute (names of HASHEM the Holy One).

The Angels as Instruments of Law

In Yetzirah – the World of Formation’s upper regions – overlapping Beriah/Creation, and particularly around Daat of Yetzirah/Yesod of Beriah – increments of the Fourth dimension step through into consciousness.   It is a passage of transformation between the worlds – a dark mirror – the whispering of a stranger from behind my neck .   Some features of the world collapse.   In this region, are other beings.   They have a different temporal substance.   They exist without cause and effect.   Yet they are forms – the multiple facets of a philosophic crystal – of awareness.

O Angel - 1988

O Angel – 1988

They have multifarious duties.  Some take an interest in and guide mundane affairs as spiritus directores.   Others are messengers from energy fields which are not human, but were shaped in a concurrent frame of consciousness.   Some are called angels.   The angel, a sub-atomic conduit of force, or cosmic ray, rules regions corresponding to inter-stellar space.   Earth is showered every day with highly charged particles – the butterfly wings through cosmos.

Angels exist outside time.   Some persons see them in human or archetypal form, for some of them descend into the world of images through the Daat window and are apparent in this way.   SANDALPHON is the Archangel of planet Earth, and MAHAEL is the Archangel of the Sun;  there is an Angel of the Solar system, and innumerable angelic hierarchies upon Jacob’s Ladder.   There are devas of the trees and woodland glades, and angelic atmospheres ruling towns and even street corners.   Mountains have their devas, as do geologic strata, resins and plant elixirs. They do their jobs outside Chronos – the circle of time.  But humans can develop a sensitive interface with them.

Time, as we live and know it, is a section across the Angel.   It is difficult for them to manifest three-dimensionally.  They do so only with human cooperation.  The Archangel of Yesod in Beriah, through whom other angelic  beings come and go, is GAVRIEL who “announced” the coming of an Anointed One to the mother.  GAVRIEL brought the dreams to Joseph, for the management of the Egyptian granary.   Cows and sheep are intuitive, but do not develop celestial vision.   Angels cannot materialize into the plane of sight.   The creatures who have the ability and the gift of destiny, to travel in and unify both worlds, are ourselves.

The Angel is the way a door opens into “seeing clearly”.  When the door is closed, we see through a glass darkly.

Archangel MAHAEL

Archangel MAHAEL

..

As our Spirit condenses, as it gravitates through the halls of upper Yetzirah into physical embodiment, we are clairvoyant to all that we are, have been and are to do, and why.   The Karma drawing us into earth’s gravity is still at this point, an undifferentiated “I” of all Eye, and probably curious, but not as yet emotionally identified.   Around the time of physical birth, the field of vision is abruptly restricted;  the soul becoming individualized, lodges into the body whose contour her various deeds and intentions created.  An aeroplane descends from the brightness into thick white cloud, and lands in a field by a toy town, dim and grey.  The child cries as the musical chord is cut.   Perhaps.

All languages of adepts contain activities or presences invisible to the layman, but in which we are supposed to believe!

In the Hermetic language they are called genii.
In Kabbalah they are called angels.
In Hindu and Egyptian languages they are called gods.
Theosophists call them Masters.
Lucretius of Rome called them atoms.
In the 20th century language of maths and physics, they are called particles.

Why do I find black holes so interesting?

The black hole is an archetypal dragon which guards enlightenment:  traverse its coil with great care and caution.   Very extreme things happen … temptations are offered … when one gets near the scent.  There is a growing attunement to the power of the Self – the Universe – and it is very easy to channel this mistakenly into the personal ego – into the unreclaimed wilderness which sets itself up to teach, influence and lead.   So one has to be watchful.

Strangely however, the black hole as conceived by materialists, is the great Light of Reality in metaphysics.  The black hole “shrinks” into that expansion, and becomes the birth of a star … through the veil’s other side.  This is a rather intuitive hunch, against the conventional grain.  The idea of black holes is frightening, tearing unwary astronauts apart, but only if materiality is the only frame of reference.   If it is not, then black holes open a very different prospect … of stars in the night sky at birth, creating Kalpas – the breaths of time and space.  The principle stands for eternity, society, astrophysics and the inner life.

..

Returning briefly to the angels on Jacob’s Ladder:  the creatures who have the ability and the gift of choice to travel in and unify the worlds, are human.

The human psyche is a walking transformer of “force” into materiality.   Through the psyche, levels of frequency – vibrational waves which might be “angels” – interface the mobile field of height, breadth and depth.   The things we do, speak and think, create concentric ripples in this field, and in the field beyond our sight.

We may choose to coast along blindly with a fateful pattern – the inertia of circumstance – or to open our eyes within the circumstance to see what it is up to.   In the latter case, we consider the circumstance in its relation to the environment, and the other wheels which turn.   If my soul is alert here, and beginning to apply steerage, I have no mob mentality.   We are co-workers in all manner of things.   This act is “awakening”.

(2) HEH … Some Further Thoughts – Venus (green) and Mars (red) on the Tree

The following colour complementaries are from my Tarot & Kabbalah studies with the Builders of the Adytum:

venus sun mars - colour correspondences

venus sun mars – colour correspondences

bota key 3 Empress

In the “queen’s scale” colour coding, Mars is red and Venus is green. On Jacob’s Ladder, Awakening’s red path – Netzach-to-Hod in Beriah the world of Creation – converts to the green Hokhmah-to-Binah path in Yetzirah the world of Formation – uniting masculine and feminine poles across the Tree, as well as vertically. (This can be seen in the diagram of Jacobs Ladder, above).  In Tarot, the green path is Venusian – the path of the Empress. She is pregnant;  she bridges Hokhmah to Binah – the Hebrew “Wisdom and Understanding”.

Tarot key 8, Strength

The triadic plane of Tifareth, Gevurah, Hesed –  the Sun with Mars and Jupiter  – is yellow-gold.  Tifareth is the Beauty of the Tree – its consciousness.   The path bridging Hesed/Jupiter (Grace) to Gevurah/Mars (Severity) over Tifareth, is yellow – Tarot Key 8, Strength:  the woman who tames the red lion.

bota key 16 tower

The  Netzach Hod level is ruled by Mars – the path of the Tower and of Awakening.   So, Key 3 The Empress (Venus) gestates the fertile seed.  Key 16 The Tower (Mars) cracks the seedcase open.  (See my previous post. – a note at the end, re the House of God)
On Jacobs Ladder of the interpenetrating Trees of Life, these two paths overlay each other.

All resonances on the Tree of Life are potential meditations:  an opener of doors – the Angel.  The Tree is full of angelic powers, as we awake to them with our sight, hearing and heart.

(4) SECOND HEH … And touching on the soul, and how we evolve in relation to each other …

angel by Raphael - copy

angel by Raphael – copy

Angels lead inevitably into platonic solids – the crystallized forms of the soul’s cosmic interface are our root elixirs.  Two tetrahedrons interpenetrating, create Solomon’s Seal:  a third-eye laser beam.

tetatrahedrons marry

Cultivate in my imagination the Tetrahedron:  the crystal of the Soul, to whose surfaces a third, extended centre point gives depth, volume and perspective … (“the height, the depth and breadth …”)

It trains the mind to overcome problems of the flat-earth polarity.

soul tetrahedrons

A Soul tetrahedron’s inner points touch the centre of each outer surface …

Sometimes it is like this:  I am the base, performing the first two – the polarity.  The plane of the Archangels is the raised apex, or depth;  and they perform the rest.    Hence the idea of surrender, and letting go – we come as far as we can, unaided:  then hand it over.

No spiritual or creative task is done in isolation, but in dialogue.  When They take over, I  stray and struggle to collect up my bits, and think about it.

Hear this:  every Angel in a wing, a mountain, a leaf or a person, is the One.

I have earth’s deep yearning for the sky to fill me.  One lens is as good as any, when polished.  They come to meet, as in the Masters’ limestone occulus:

Drawn up into a dark cave whose glory drop by drop
the rain through aeons carved,
as stalagmite to stalactite my soul evolves,
from floor to point of meeting.

Let us draw time,
draw together this space.

My flame drinks wick;  in watered rock my mirrored twin appears –
mineral kingdom interpolates, vesica pisces, droplet rock
to drop deposit.

Not by earthly measure large, this chamber –
by a candle illumined:  a single drop, a sea.
In limestone cave the work through ages dark
as organs of our inner body, gleams.

Hollowing this Gothic sphere, I am the ages’ hourglass –
an instant yes, awakens sight:  the hallowing fire.

Finally:  here is a sketch of a dream I had in 1969, of “a vulnerable angel”:

a vulnerable angel

He (in green) felt something grow behind his shoulders – tender wings.  He is embarassed, and tries to hide this condition from the other people in the room.   Leo Tolstoy’s short story about an Angel who fell to earth – “What Men Live By” – made a deep, early impression on me.

To conclude, here is the Angel of cosmic regulation – the Tarot Temperance:

On Angels and Providence

..

Archangel Gavriel of the Western waters

Archangel Gavriel of the Western waters

This is a formative essay from about 1992, which for some time, I planned to edit and blog.  It belongs with the series of other older and updated writings:  How to draw the Sri Chakra Yantra — Alchemy & Self Enquiry — Speed of Light: Tsim tsum & Self Enquiry — the Field of the Dead.

I was discussing with a friend the other day, the practices which enlist the help of Angels’ magick – and some of the unpredictable results – doubtful of commissioning the Angels to our own small desires and interests.  Ten years ago, I learnt about some of the methods, but lost interest …  or perhaps it just didn’t work for me.

I do like to remind myself of the Archangels Mahael, Rafael, Gavriel, Uriel – the guardians of the compass points and of the elements Fire, Air, Water, Earth – and their Sefiroth on the Tree of Life: Beauty, Intelligence, Nature and the North.

Self knowledge is crucial:  else there is mere projection.  A mystic is a natural scientist.  The root of science is knowledge through enquiry and verification.

angels diagram

Where “Above” meets “Below”, is a point of unifying awareness, the Now.  As this area expands, as the eye widens and deepens … in a creative act or moment of contemplation … the compass of my mind opens.  The dimension is embraced in the heightened awareness of a moment, or of a lifetime.   As provincial intellect dissolves, I awaken from sleep.  In my sleep I dreamed I am an island separate, clever and enclosed, surrounded by an ocean.  When I wake, I AM the ocean.

To live and work where the worlds meet, is to wake and sleep where they come to each other.  Is my “Above” unawake to what is “Below”?   If “Above” and “Below” cohabit in a random violence, they cannot align into the texture of living.

The work is to integrate the six sides of the Star:  to keep the interpenetrating Triangles’ place of meeting, open.  The one descends into the other ascending.  Balanced work aligns the mystic faculty to the senses, to manifest the ‘Angel’ on Earth … exercised in each day’s encounters and relationships, as in the solitude.  The only way to navigate the allure of hidden rocks – excessive reaction in any direction – is to develop a steady inward vision.   The sailor trims the vessel.  Excess of wind or current can capsize it:  the penalty of a moment’s blindness.   When I am blind with the weight of personal opinion, judgement or outrage, how can I see what is provided?  the provisions for the voyage?

If “Above” and “Below” are separate – blind to each other in the psyche – they violate each other.  In the mirror is a personal ego which cannot contain their confrontation, and fears both.   If the personal vessel is driven by sub and supra-conscious forces seeking possession but unintegrated, that hue and cry will manifest in her earthly environment.  Everything happening around the vessel, arises from the mind’s state of “trim” or ballast.  This condition assembles a perception of the world.

Watch and see my dwelling’s colour, and its walls.   Learn the cause of certain repetitions;  what is provided.  It is Providence.   These are KA BALLISTIC observations.

Emblem 8 – angel sieves wheat from chaff

To define an Angel?  The word symbolises – in the earth bound perception – a region in the spiritual psyche which is asleep until called upon.   So it appears, as a reflection in these waters below.   Yet regarded as a whole, the Angel is a higher archetype, a prototype or series – conduits of quintessence – in the collective pool of consciousness;  the power to influence our navigation.  If we are blind to archetypal weather patterns, they are our dictators of good or adverse fortune.  Perhaps to wake, to call upon the Angel, allows us to see the pattern as a whole, rather than the mould.

There are in humanity, innumerable archetypal resonances.   They reside not “out there”, but in the depths of you and me.  In the deep ocean uniting us, where no holds are barred, they are winged movements of the Self.   Given awareness in the human fabric – the “I” – they are my article of evolution, from the skins of animals, through tribes and individuals, to Consciousness and beyond our imagination.   Consciousness is a garden:  to the Self be true.   This in-tention develops precision in the dialogue.

Angels gossip - 1956

Angels gossip – 1956

..

My concept is:  that an Angel – those which translate to winged messengers – is a conduit of force.  An Angel is an emanation, an elemental “strand” or filament of interactions.  The Angel in the sub atomic universe arises in a myriad pathways, from the colloquial “big bang” exhalation of Genesis, and is eternally present, in the formation of space-time.

The unseen fibre of Creation dwells in the pulse of all Formation, through mineral to the Divine source.   One angelic force drives a geometric interplay of planetary orbits – a tide of human destiny.  Another is the intimate silent song which shapes a woodland glade or flower.  Another rules a neighbourhood, an element, a star, or a deluge of cosmic particles.

All Angels emanate from the heart of cosmic expansion – from Genesis, from the moment before time and space began.  Thus they are not of our time and space.  In Kabbalah it is written that the Primordial One “brought about a contraction and made room (a void) in himself where the worlds could be created.”   For God to behold God, for the I to look into the I, that which emanates is Creation, Formation, Materiality.   But that from which it emanates, is a measureless unity.

The breadth, height and depth of our physical and sensory universe is yet a “flat-earth theory”.  The truth is outside time and space and yet here in the heart of the matter as it ever is, closer than breathing.

Emblem 3 – Angel at the door

Angels are the multiplicity of the Holy Oneness in his-her aspect of Creation, along subatomic “routes” – a galactic universe which, to our senses, still expands, and yet is ever Present.   Angelic is the homeopathic potency to reverse a dis-ease.  The molecular web’s dilution back into the “atom before Creation”, overcomes the symptom.

Angels singly, or blending their infinite dance of Numbers, are natural Law.  They are functions.  They cannot alter themselves, because only time and space can alter.   There are Angels of positive current and Angels of negative current in the cosmic circuitry:  the hierarchic colour tones and frequencies.  Intelligent life is not a mere passenger, but cooperates with the Angels.   Intelligent sensitivity is a discerning hand in the fabric.  Angels were the great early gods and powers who emanated from the One.  Every cosmology ancient and modern has a host of expansive deities – their tapestry of Self reproduction. But the Holy Oneness in the core of each and every one of these, evades description.  Genesis, a parable of a Kalpa’s origin or exhaled Divine breath, is a coded script for the indescribable.

I cannot “see” an Angel.  But an Angel is the feeling when a chamber of my mind opens.  An altered energy state flows through, unimpeded by gross actions – though these obscure it.  I try throughout life, not to capture it into an ego-centric craft, but to let it resonate delicately as a water lily on dark water.

The personal ego is a navigational instrument.  When allied to cosmic Self, she is a vessel of choice – to welcome energies selectively.  Excess in any direction gives birth to excess in the other.

The relationship of “Above” and “Below” is not a marionette theatre.  The higher interior consciousness corresponds with its inverse reflection in the material, sensory world.  Our brain inverts light and darkness which, entering the lens, form an image on the retina.  Right-side brain rules the body’s left side.  If I look down into a pool, my reflected face with the sky behind it, is dark.  Matter inter-relates with, and makes visible, the unseen.  It is the outline.

To be conscious is a going concern – a verb – among the Changes of active and passive states.  An infinity of conscious strands is woven through the universe of this life:  not as a fixed predictive engine, but as multiple probable worlds.  The subatomic interactions without time, yet fall into the order of molecular adherence, or time.  The marmons or nodes – where three lines intersect – in the Sri Chakra Yantra, are interactions:

Sri Chakra - Version 2

..

..

Consciousness is not rigid, but infinitely flexible.  A watcher of Providence observes the shape of daily life in the greater or lesser context, and what comes to it – a visible manifest of the underlying cause.   The more I watch, the more I see the meaningful.  The pitfall is when I confine the meaningful to a local – thus incomplete – interpretation.   In a symphonic musical score, are layer upon layer of tones of Providence.  Focusing  on one line only, I lose the hearing of the whole score.  An over excited thought stream enacts and re-enacts an excited environ – a primitive exaltation of short-waves.  Every beginner in early civilization does this for a time.    Eventually tiring of the agitation, mind becoming more disciplined, seeks a tranquil centre.  A longer wave comes.   It hasn’t the one incessant melody:  the polyphonic progressions of a sacred chorale are heard.   The hearing is non-verbal – a devotion.   Underlying the chimera of cause and effect, the life-stories, is a greater Sound in the silence … the garden of Eden.

Sri Chakra colour-sound vibration

Sri Chakra colour-sound vibration (from “Yantra” by Madhu Khanna)

..

Sensing also a greater palette under the chimera of cause and effect, I become a painter, and mixing the colours, I call the awakening land a Choral Garden.  It is a song of all the lifetimes.  The repeated resonance of their hues within the score, is like the harmonic of a bell.   This is the pargod, the tapestry or veil of God.   Occasionally in my dreams, I hear music, all along the horizon, which I never wrote.

What is allowed to happen?  What can be developed and remain true?  What is being continued?  Is it time to change – having exhausted – the theme?  Who desires this theme? and which other colour in the symphony does it support?

In Buddhist teaching, Karma – the cyclic shapes of life – is likened to firewood.  As long as there is fuel, the flame will burn it – ashes to earth.  The inner journey towards perfecting, is the oeuvre of existing.  The alchemical tools are acceptance of pain and joy, energy and fatigue, as self-teachers.   There is reflected in the ever changing life-element, a particle or being of the Holy Oneness.

The stars are reflected in the raven’s wing.

Underlying the filaments of all the lifetimes, is ever present the Source:  ever elusive to be.

..

An article of faith is a religious commitment – adhered to, but not understood.  An article of Self knowledge is experience tried and tested … which is not infallible.  The evolving gnosis of life re-writes it each day.   Constantly, the “knowledge” in the abyss is un-known, and rediscovered.

Emblem praenesis: ship anchor

Emblem praenesis: ship anchor:  “This shows the way”.

..

So what is Providence?

Provisions for life’s journey, provisional to Godliness, are provided for …  to exercise the destiny.  Providence coming from other lifetimes of that destination, is to a great extent self-provided:  do as you would be done by;  be done by as you did.   We try that terrain again and again until we realise:  the do-do is obsolete, it loses energy.

Why disqualify human beings from reincarnation?  Are we other than the tree which grows the same but different leaves, for hundreds of seasons?   or the Sun, giver of life, whose seed is captured in Earth’s molten core?

“Above” is a definition of my soul’s viewpoint and ethics.  “Below” is what is realised through expanding and contracting it into the living body by breath.  “Consciousness” speaks and acts consciously, in whatever the situation.  An “infalllible” personage is one that cannot be reached.  Nor, I suppose, can an “infallible” Angel.  “Infallible” is an impenetrable fortress, built on shifting sand.

Providence is a highly subjective encounter.  In the superficial terrain of cause and effect, one’s meat is poison to another.   “She” might perceive a providential chaos – or nothing provided at all.  “He” might hear everywhere, a harmony.  Both, beholding the same landscape, experience Reality.

Each “I” sees out of one window or facet of the whole crystal which is “I”.   Whole societies or tribes look out upon the world from one, or very similar windows.

Deeper polyphonies of Providence transcend the province and await a re-tuned ear.  Each tree grows in a chord of everymans’ earth, to capacity.

Today …

Angels express the depth of our emotions – or our feelings and states of mind call forth the angel, light and dark.   My thinking about angels today, reaches towards … a renewal of … commitment :  let “Above” and  “Below” come forth, from the in-between.

The angels have not the three lower chakras.  The animal kingdom has not the three higher.  Who has the octave and its potential for the meeting of all the worlds? … humanity.

Respect for the Great Beings doesn’t try to fit them into our toys.  The respect recognises their beauty and their immensity.  It is the quantum path of awe.  At the same time, I translate Angels into my visual field, as graceful beings with big feathery wings, and love them thus.  In fact the Angels look through Daat on the Tree into our Yesod interface, and cast those big winged shadows.

The Angels are like Tolkien’s Elves.  They are undying essences, timeless, caught sometimes in the conduits of time and space.  Then they appear to be warriors and creators.  Angels carry out the Holy One’s thoughts.  Angels are the Holy One’s intergalactic wings.  Angels are of the supra-galactic being.  Angels are the ELOHIM.  The House of God is BETH HA-ELOHIM.

Each Hebrew letter is an angelic being.  According to Paul Foster Case, BETH HA-ELOHIM’s numerical value (gematria) is 503, the same as Hebrew words meaning “to expel, to put forth fruit.”

GERESH tarot keys 2,19,21

“To put forth fruit” is GeReSh:  gimel, resh, shin.  It also means “a fruit, product of the earth, produce.”  In Tarot’s spelling of this word, Gimel is the High Priestess, Resh is the Sun and Shin is the Judgement (from right to left.  The Tarot Keys are numbered one behind their Hebrew letters, because Tarot begins with Key Zero The Fool, whose letter is Aleph, number 1).

The three pictures say it all:  the splitting of the seed, the awakening shoot.  The Priestess’s pomegranates become Archangel Gavriel’s great red wings, in fourth dimension.  Insight strikes, and mind is still.  The pomegranates pass through sunflowers around the naked children, to the Archangel’s wings.  (I typo’d poem-granates !)  The pillars of the Temple, Jakin and Boaz, are the seed case.  In SHIN the Judgement, the call to earth, they are parents of the child.  The Priestess is virgin, which means ripe.  The purity is ripe.

These three Tarot Keys with their letters, are the Moon, the Sun and Fire.  “A product of the earth is that most precious fruit, the Stone of the Wise, compounded from the elements.” (Paul Foster Case).

Every fruit has its Stone, or pip.

Rohit’s Notes – October 2002

I’m sending you an article and a somewhat unusual depiction of Surya in the chariot with a seven faced horse, rather than seven horses.  If you choose to depict Surya as you have done before, then that would be fine with me too.  If he is shown standing, then he should be clearly depicted as wearing knee length boots and, curious detail, copper gloves!  Don’t ask me why, but that is always the case in the classical sculptures.

I would prefer a depiction of a Sun Chariot moving in outer space and illumining it, rather than the typical pastoral landscape version of most tarot packs.

Rohit’s Article:  Surya – the Eye of the World

“Give me the splendid silent sun with all his beams full-dazzling!”

Walt Whitman

Worship of the sun is one of mankind’s oldest beliefs, and perhaps in many ways one of the most sensible.  For the sun is the literal source of life.

All energy conversions – whether in plants, animal or in fuel sources – are after all, utilizing the rays of the sun at a few removes.  Life would come to an end without photosynthesis, and what is that but drawing nourishment for the world from the sun?  400 million years from now, we are slated to fall back into the decaying star that our planet burst out of aeons ago, though by then mankind will have to learn to find another source of life, perhaps under other stars.  Till now, the sun is indispensable, and has been instinctively reverenced as such.  The Pueblo Hopi Indians have a daily ritual which they claim nourishes the sun and keeps it, and by implication, the world alive.  Anthropologists have indulgently regarded it as a charming oddity, instead of the intrinsically wise awareness that it manifests.  They know where Life comes from only too well;  they merely focus on a preliminary stage in its unfolding sequence.

Sun wheel

In India the Sun is still worshipped on a daily basis by at least tens of millions of people, and that would be a conservative estimate.  The chanting of mantras to greet the dawn is one of the really genuine ancient living traditions of the world.

The sun god, called Surya, has risen and fallen in prominence over the centuries, but his worship has not dwindled even though his stature has.  From Vedic times onwards, Surya has always been worshipped.  In the Vedas he is the chief source of light and warmth and wisdom, though he is often co-mingled with Aditya and Savitri in a manner that does not resolve itself until many centuries later.  As mythology developed, the great Vedic gods were declared to be sons of Aditi, wife of Kasyapa, and they were collectively known as the Adityas.  It is a name that is applied almost exclusively to Surya today, and is a very popular name for males.  Savitri has now become an exclusively female name, though in the Vedas it originally meant the invisible, hence spiritual aspect of the sun.  This is analogous to the concept of Helios, the invisible sun in Greek myth.  Others say Savitri is the sun at full blaze and Surya the sun which rises and sets.  Clearly, this interpretation has fallen out of favour.

(Jane comments:  I am reminded of the Osiris Isis cycle/relationship in elder Egypt.  The cultures have their distinct stories, but arise from humanity’s common root:  the worship of the Risen.)

keren-su detail

The most sacred mantra in all Hinduism, the GAYATRI, is addressed to the Sun, Vivifier, “the One who enlightens and stimulates the Understanding.”

There is no great body of myth as such, associated with the sun.  It is almost as if Surya is such a visible and even hotly tangible presence, that there is no need to nourish the imagination with word pictures and long tales.  The Vedic Hymns are full of descriptions of his appearance, but they are more enthusiastic exclamations at the brilliant beauty of the sun, than anything else.  It is as though they were not blinded but drunk on light, bedazzled with illumination.

"The All seeing Eye, revealed by his beams
gleaming like brilliant flames, to nation after nation,
with speed beyond mortal understanding, O Savitr,
you create the light, and with it you illumine
the entire universe."

Konark Temple

The sun is golden haired, golden limbed and, interesting touch, golden tongued.  His eyes are golden orbs through which he regards the world and gives him his name – Loka-chakshuh, the Eye of the World.  If these names sound like titles from a Robert Jordan fantasy epic, that cannot be helped.  The mythical imagination always runs in predictable grooves, no matter if it is 2000BC or 2000AD.

This is the ref. Jane used for the next two drawings of Surya Graha Jyotish in 1998

..

Surya rides across the sky in a golden chariot drawn by seven white horses, personifications of the days of the week.  The solar chariot is the oldest hypothesis to explain the apparent movement of the sun across the sky.  The wheels of his chariot naturally have twelve spokes for the obvious reasons.  His charioteer is an interesting personage called Aruna.  This worthy is translucent, and is an undifferentiated mass of flesh under the waist;  sitting down on the job is about all he can do, but that is perfect for his task.

When the dawn breaks, personified as a beautiful woman called Ushas (see Sacred India Tarot Archive, the Creation of the Star) Surya is supposed to give chase to her.   His light shines through the translucent body of Aruna and that is why we have the Red Sun, Rohita, visible in the morning.

The rays of the sun are described as the many arms of Surya reaching out to bless every corner of the universe and infusing the realms of the gods with energy.

Surya Graha Jyotish 1

In later mythology, Surya is demoted somewhat.  He is now a still powerful god, but less than the Trinity.  This by the way, was not reflected in popular belief.  The cult of Surya grew steadily until it had rivaled any of the gods, and it reached a magnificent peak between the ninth and thirteenth centuries.  The most beautiful temples in India were built for his worship, a roll call of spectacular workmanship – the jewel like wonder at Modhera, the awesome Konark, the totally ruined temple of Martand, the little one at Osian and perhaps many more lost forever to iconoclastic fervour.

It is as though the creative energies of India had a high in northern India with Sun temples, and then sank in exhaustion.  Strangely enough, the Suryavanshi Rajput warrior clans of Rajasthan, claiming descent from the sun, never built a single temple for him.  They worshipped other gods, even though they were very proud of such noble descent.  Go figure!

Surya-Sun at Konark

Iconographic representation of Surya too, reached pretty high standards.  Three eyes, four hands holding water lilies, supposed to be the flower that longs for the dawn, are standard.  The sun is supposed to rise from, indeed be born of, the cosmic waters;  so the lilies are convenient symbolic shorthand.  He is the only Indian god known to be always wearing knee length boots and in some cases distinct metal (copper) gloves.  The boots are an invariable rule in his sculpture as is the atibhanga posture, the immobile erect stance of perfection, the god who is the cosmic pillar and support of the universe.

Surya graha jyotish 2

It is therefore an appalling development that somewhere from the 14th century onwards, a superstition developed that to make Surya ikons, is to invite the curse of leprosy!  In such ways do traditions turn upon themselves when they become decrepit.  Surya was actually once the LORD OF HEALING, a function the Solar gods, the Ashwinis, took over from him, and he ended up feared, as a bringer of disease.  There are no more active temples of Surya left either, except as an adjunct to some more popular deity.

The Ashwins, the Solar healing twins – a very rare representation.  See Pages of Staves, later in the Minor Arcana

..

One of the widely diffused later myths, seemingly crafted to explain his decline while the other gods rose in favour, has Surya married to Sanjana, daughter of the Cosmic craftsman Vishvakarma.  The marriage is very happy, but Sanjana cannot bear her husband when he shines in full glory.  One day she makes the mistake of closing her eyes and averting her head from this intolerable illumination and the normally gentle Surya almost becomes a supernova.

He curses his wife to bear the god of death, Yama, for having averted her gaze from the giver of life, and for being variable and inconstant in her opinions, to bear a twin girl Yamuna, a river that never maintains its limits – constantly shifting itself.   Fortunately they already have a brilliant son, Manu, who is to become the proto-Adam of the next cycle of creation; and he helps them to reconcile later.  Sanjana is too hurt by his behaviour to easily reconcile, so she leaves her husband in possession of her Shadow, a simulacrum called Chaaya, while she goes to the forest to perform penance and bring Surya’s blaze down. She hides in the form of a Solar Mare.  When Surya finds out, he joins her as a stallion or Ashwa.  The results of this equestrian wooing are supposed to be the Ashwini Kumara, from Ashwa or horse.

(This is a later attempt to bring all the solar gods into one coherent narrative, but the Ashwinis were independent gods in the Vedas.  See our article on them, later in this series.)

Vishvakarma decides to help his daughter, and puts Surya on his great lathe and cuts away an eighth of his effulgence.  This fiery power was redistributed among the other gods, primarily as weapons.  Vishnu got a discus, Siva his trident, Skanda his spear, and so on.  The shifting power structures amongst the gods, and their collectively assimilating the Surya cult, are clearly visible here.  Also notable is the remarkable symbolism of death being the son of the giver of life.  No sooner does life come into being, than death has marked it down.

Sacred India Tarot 13:  Yama

The fiery power was distributed to other gods as weapons

In later myths, Surya sinks even further into insignificance.  In the Ramayana he is the father of Sugriva, the Monkey prince, and can do nothing to prevent his persecution at the hands of his brother.  In the Mahabharatha he is the father of the tragic figure Karna, and again can do nothing to ease the harsh destiny of his son.  It’s a long way down for the god described in the Vedas as the Great All-Knowing Lord.

The many names of Surya somehow still pulsate with power when the panegyrics to the other gods fade into staleness.

He is Dinakara, Day-maker;  Vivasat the Radiant One;  Karma-shakshi, witness of the deeds of men;  Mihira, He who waters the earth (by drawing up moisture so that clouds may form);  Savitri the Nourisher of gods and men;  and best of all, Savitr, the Impeller towards the good Light.

One cannot help feeling that somehow India lost more than beautiful temples when his worship collapsed;  an entire subculture of great vitality and creative energy went with it.  It was, by the evidence available till now, about the only faith in India that did not go emotionally overboard or assimilate so many bizarre aspects of behaviour and belief that make modern sensibilities squeamish.  The Light was sufficient unto itself, and there was no evil thereof.

It is a belief that would be reiterated in another time and place by an artist from another culture.  Many centuries later, as England’s great painter, Turner, lay dying after a lifetime of painting the light, he stated his life’s discovery and faith in four words:

“The sun is God.”

Jane’s Notes, August 2012

Our emails and images for this card seem to have got lost.  My October 2002 journal is busy with Kabbalist/alchemical practice and imagery.  I was learning to build a ‘body of light’.

However, I find again some paragraphs of interest, from the time I was drawing SURYA.  My reason for including my recorded meditations in this series, is: not only are they part of the creative process:  they ANCHORED the art-work of the card, energetically.   They arose spontaneously; they are in its future.   It is an opportunity to reveal this strata of the work.  A visual thinker may follow and make associations.  A verbal thinker will naturally relate more to the teaching, mythology and ideas associated with the card.

Jane’s Notes, 30 October –   2002

"If I'd thought about it, I never would have done it,
I guess I would have let it slide.
If I'd lived my life by what others were thinkin',
the heart inside me would have died.
But I was just too stubborn
to ever be governed by enforced insanity -
someone had to reach for the risin' star, I guess it was up to me."

Bob Dylan

..“…on the Tuesday I drew a seal.  The thoughtform during Michaelmas was the Seal of the Soul, and what I had learned with the seals in my sunbody immersed in moonwater on the Coastal Path.   (See SITA Archive, Creation of the Star, Ushas) …

“… Before getting up this morning, I saw in the deep water under my ship, the anchor chain let down and resting in coils on the sand.  It was golden.  Everything was golden around the galleon on the bottom.  I could not make out objects other than seed-like forms or coin-like forms; but it had this sense of goldenness and clarity.

“If the anchor chain is loose, it means there is further to descend.  I recognized this, when visualizing the place like an inner Sun to sink down into.

“Let there be a well of sunlight.  Let the anchor softly drop down through the well (there is a sunflower), to the end of its chain through the strata of darkness.  Don’t expect to see things, for this is very deep;  but there is a hint of rainbow tints or precious stones – the metals of the wise.  Where is this sensed, physically?  Behind the neck, between upper shoulders:  the Path of Awe and deliverance of my teacher.  I am under the sand and in my teacher’s living loving quiet.  I slipped down the stem and into my teacher.  Where am I in his subtle body? – in the stomach – he tastes me, I am his food of the world.  The inner organs which are hidden from sight, are of glorious and startling colours.

“Our vision must go through the colours, it must come from behind their prism, as the pure light of their Source: Self-enquiry.  In Jacobs Ladder, Heaven and Earth interface through Consciousness.  The place of meeting is embodied.

“How is the anchor chain now?  Does it hang straight, in whatever element?  Straight it hangs, with the anchor at the end, golden like a pendulum.  The art of dowsing is in space;  to eradicate any tendency to dis-ease;  the penetration into ‘living with ease in oneself’ which is spirituality.

“Harmony here in the stomach is where tensions dissolve.  Here too, the fountain breath works the diaphragm – the alchemic bellows.  Last night, an acid attack (from drinking orange juice) woke me, bolting up into windpipe, foul fiery taste, ate 3 alkaline pills and it gradually dispersed.  Nearly every night there is a surface break of shadow from the deep, in some form of small shock.

“As we’re busy in this region, the ship isn’t sailing anywhere at present;  a time for those on board to make and mend.  The anchor is in bedrock, but because the Sun took it down, it may by Sunlight as easily be raised.

“A spontaneous visualization is a combined operation – my teacher’s, as much as my own.  We ascend and descend into each other, both, and in it is my teacher’s own agenda, beyond my sight.  Light, like an egg, has a natural tendency to nest in the dark.  It is a vast egg, a pearl.  If planted into the stomach, light naturally passes into the ‘black dragon’ where the transformation happens in ‘chyle’ (the Royal Art of Alchemy.)   So they had to blast up a bit of bile first, out of the way!

sunflower photo

“Sunflower.  My lunar face is dark, and around it are the corona petals of my teacher.  His light is too bright to see, so mine is placed before it.  Admitting my darkness, I see around it the Fire of His Beauty, his lions’ mane.  Find ways of looking in an inward mirror, and being still.  See through a glass darkly, without talk.  He is there, all around.  What does he whisper to me?  A kind of vibration like “Or…..”, a word told me, 12 years ago in Troy’s psychic reading.

Or … arose because of an ancient insight of the esoteric O and A sounds – the long, open vowels.   I hear it deeply sung, like Troy sang it to me, deep voice like a chant.  Or … , sunflower, crown, sword-and-scales.

This old man in grassy field with dark-brown beret, is the shining of the face from behind the dark-brown Sunflower centre.  He says jo napot kivanok – “have a good day”/Hungarian.  Look at those a’s and o’s!   The best way to check out Or … is to say it, vibrate it, and see if anything happens.  Like the sunflower growing by B’s house, it feels like one of those small cosmic prompts which so amuse the angelics, and take decades to catch on;  but then catch a moment.  It needs only to move the light just a little.

“Or … is of course a French word for gold, and an Italian word for Now, and the hour.  It is also the ores of the wisdom metals and in earth.  In Hungarian it means just a row of something – row of chairs etc.

“Or … is a Druidic northern Europe sound, and a golden vibration.  My inner eye saw a little pyramid of amber, and Troy (psychic) was led at once to underground trees and the carboniferous golden river of their sap.  He resonated it for me.  In that realm is sunlight, like under the sea, like Archangel Michael, like in the golden web of the water Peter and I looked into.

“Troy said, about sound:  ‘Sound is the pulsation of each planet at their vibratory level – direct connection of those qualities pulses through the law of sounds/science.  Certain sounds can, by the law of attraction, create the alternative reality on the other side, which is equal in sound and measure, to come back into your life.  Thus, we make a sound, we create it to be pulled and drawn into our lives to come.

‘’Does pain necessarily have to be the doorway to further joy, or could joy be the quality of manifestation that creates yet further joy to be magnetized at this point of functioning, where quality will attract life?  (We need not be now) so much at the point of our beginnings, where pain attracted the opposite.  We swing in the opposites often, at the beginning of our life.’”

**

This is, in western terms, a mantra yoga, and it is interesting to find it linked here to the Solar vibration:  to Surya, and to the Gayatri mantra which Rohit led off with.

Contrasts also are highlighted:  the light and the dark:  the equilibrium which is maturity, the full expression of our solar self.

I also noted, at another time:  Serenity, simplicity, radiance in all directions, the power of the child-like.  In India, the Sun can be also a scorching destructive force, and some jyotish astrologers see him as a malefic.  The seven horses are the days of the week.  Note the chariot wheel and the Yantra on his heart.  He needs no weapons.

Waite and BOTA

In the Waite tarot deck, the Sun is depicted as a child leading a horse.  The resonance with the Vedic equine symbolism is of interest here.

In the BOTA deck the Sun shines down on a pair of children – baby adepts – within a protective stone wall, with sunflowers.  This is the alchemical process beginning to ripen and evolve, and it is called “The Collecting Intelligence.”  Alchemy abounds with the symbolism of cooking, slow ovens and hatching, like under the hens’ breast.  The mysterious work of the Sun is from within, changing everything. The Sun card is benevolent in every direction.

A Poem in "Sharing Expressions", 2005

SUN
benevolent source of light
life giver
well-spring of comfort and warmth,
healers of aches, of pain of soul,
silver lining of dark clouds
today we give thanks
for your great blessings
for your bright shining
which colours and illuminates our world
for the bird's song
that mirrors your glory
and for your gentle radiance
rising from the depth of the night
each new morning
unfolding nature and humans
to their full splendour
today
we give thanks for the sun.
